A voice of knowledge and reason

Updated: This mornings interview on NZ National Radio

In the following interview Dr. Ramzy Baroud, a Palestinian journalist and author who was born and raised in a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip speaks with George Galloway, a British broadcaster and politician with intimate knowledge of the Palestinian condition.

Baroud speaks about the Palestinian condition in an insightful and reasoned way; one that we can all probably appreciate. He attributes Palestinian survival to their universal commitment to Resistance.

At the conclusion of the 25 minute interview he reminds us that after the Spanish crusade of the 15th century, the Jews who found refuge (first in North Africa and eventually in Palestine) co-existed with Palestinians for 500 years. He says, “historically it is clear that we are capable of co-existing, but we just can’t exist with zionism and racism.”

There’s much of interest in this interview, and I believe Baroud is someone whose manner and wisdom has the potential to be restorative, if the other side would just listen.

He will be interviewed by Kim Hill on NZ National Radio tomorrow morning. I’m sure it will be interesting, and I will update this post with that interview.

Paletianians ended up with leadership that so few seem to like. Couldn't help but think, welcome to the club. Humans tend to do that.

Usually Congress passes some kind of act 320-1 supporting Israel. Waiting for that.
That's why I try not to say "we" anymore when talking about our government's actions and agenda. It's not we, it's they or them. The U.S. government does not represent you or me. Like Haley or Trump saying "the United States unequivocally supports Israel". Well, not me, they don't speak for me. I don't support Israel, those controlling the government of Israel are just as evil as our own controllers, many of whom intersect and overlap.
Perhaps representative government just doesn't work.

I woke up this morning determined to drink less, eat right, and exercise.
But that was four hours ago when I was younger and full of hope.

@Big Al but it is certainly warped into its opposite by neoliberal capitalism. Once individuals are able to accumulate large amounts of money, they influence the government to further enrich themselves. The cycle repeats and it is a positive feedback loop that continues until government only represents the wealthy.

Thank you! Over at TOP, I caught hell frequently for pointing this fact out. I kept getting the standard BS about "we are the government", etc.

The fact remains: "Government of the people, by the people, for the people" has perished from our Earth!

It's simple, really. All that needs to happen is 1) all remaining Palestinians in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank need to move out, and 2) all people in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt need to move out. Once those two simple things happen, Israel will be happy for 10 or 20 years. Until they need more land for settlements or a bigger buffer zone.

I know how to solve the I/P problem. It's simple, really. Sounds like Lebensraum to me........

I was ignorant about the whole Palestinian thing until I had a Palestinian middle school student in the late 90s. He showed me pictures and told me about his family. I was horrified.
