[Updated] Fer Sure

I keep running across this line in pretty much every article in the MSM about Trump's impeachment:

There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Joe or Hunter Biden.

Source: Pelosi says Barr has 'gone rogue' -- CNN

The first time I read it, about an hour ago, I went "hmnm". The quote above is the 4th time in the past hour on 4 different MSM outlets that the same, word-for-word, statement appeared.

I guess there is collusion after all. By the MSM. They're desperately trying to protect Joe, their anointed 2020 candidate. Especially now that Elizabeth Warren is surging into the lead.

[Update] We've now gone beyond the mere claim that there is no evidence. According to CNN, Trump:

Asked Zelensky to investigate debunked allegations of corrupt activity by Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, in Ukraine

Source: Donald Trump made a HUGE mistake releasing the Ukraine transcript -- CNN

An interesting progression, wouldn't you agree? From "no evidence" to "debunked". Much like how Trump's dumb joke about Russia finding Hillary's missing emails rapidly morphed into indisputable proof that Trump asked Putin to help him win the election.

The msm are definitely getting their talking points from somewhere. There are also blatant lies in the msm in addition to their standard fare of omissions and half truth. This smells like a CIA/Red Team fascist attempted coup. For the record, Trump did not accuse either Biden of wrongdoing. Quoting from the memo:

"The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it. It sounds horrible to me."

Here is the video of Biden bragging about withholding loan guarantees until the Ukrainian government fired the prosecutor that was investigating the company that was paying Hunter Biden

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXA--dj2-CY]

Biden's comments seem horrible to me as well. So Trump's unpardonable sin was to ask Volodymyr Zelensky to cooperate with the US Attorney General after Joe Biden bragged about bullying the government of Ukraine into firing a prosecutor that was investigating the company that was paying Hunter Biden. Trump has done so much harm and this is what they go after him for.

It's like when Trump said the "whistleblower" is like a spy and in the old days we knew how to handle them. He didn't actually say the words "we should kill that guy". We, however, know how to understand what people mean.

I don't know what you could get out of that quote about Biden other than an accusation.

Anyway, about this Biden thing. It's a separate matter from Trump. They're both crooks. Whatever Hunter Biden did and whatever Joe Biden did are irrelevant to what Trump is. Excusing one because of the other is how we got here.

@Shahryar

You wrote "Excusing one because of the other is how we got here." Not exactly.

Here is where we are: We forgave Obama's record level of deportations while condemning Trump's lower level. We ignored the Clinton's dealings with Russia but have a special prosecutor investigate Trump. We're absolving Biden of his Ukrainian misadventures ("no evidence"; "debunked allegations") while trying to impeach Trump for his.

The law and the rules should apply to everybody equally, not just those we dislike. Democrats are trying to have their cake and eat it, too. We progressives cede the moral high ground when we don't hold both parties feet to the fire.

and "trying to influence the 2020 election".
Trump says seeking cooperation in a criminal investigation.
I hate to say it but the evidence points to Trump being correct and Biden being a criminal.

And isn't every candidate trying to influence the 2020 election?

Just keep repeating the lie over and over again as truth and eventually, the American voter will believe it. And hey, never mind that they all do it, it is only the Orange Beast who is corrupt I tell ya! Once he is gone the USA will fer sure be that great shining beacon of law and order that it was before he came along! USA, USA, USA!!!

probably didn't break any laws but that's not the issue.
He was paid $50k/month to do a job for which he had no obvious qualifications.
That is the issue. Debunk that, if you can.
I don't presume to speak for all Americans but I can assure you that there are millions of ordinary people in this country who would love to make $50 thousand per year !
What were these a-holes thinking when they decided to bring all this up ?

@Azazello

That Nancy Pelosi thought this was a good way to distract attention from Democratic presidential candidates that are pushing progressive ideas like free college and Medicare For All. Joe Biden is considered acceptable collateral damage.

It's also the case that a lot of young progressives in the House, AOC for example, have been demanding impeachment.
Still, how tone-deaf can they be ?

@Azazello

the Ukrainian government was going to come up eventually because clearly the Trump administration was going to investigate it and make an issue of it.

AG Barr's current investigation is about the premise for the FBI investigation of Trump four years ago. Biden's behavior in Ukraine may very well be part of that because Biden's video bragging was already out there and it reflects the Obama administration's illegal and corrupt dealings in Ukraine, which have a lot to do with Crowdstrike, with creating anti-Russian hysteria, and with supporting Nazi paramilitary forces with U.S. tax dollars. It's not just about Biden, but Biden's behavior, making a public statement about his strong-arming Ukraine at a time when his party thought they had the 2016 election in the bag, is evidence of the Democratic administration's illegal regime change and war making in Ukraine.

The Obama admin financed a coup in Ukraine when it's leader decided to get lower interest rate loans from Russia instead of more expensive loans from the EU and ensnarement by the IMF.

By using his position for his son's benefit by withholding funds to influence a foreign investigation about his son. Doesn't matter if his son was innocent. He used his OFFICIAL power for private gain. That's influence peddling.

Same as if he withheld the FBI appropriation to quash an investigation of his son.

Criminal. Proof? Joe Biden's own words on video tape.

Trump asking a foreign state for help in the CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. Not the same as "seeking dirt".
Did the FBI seek dirt on El Chapo? Was Eliot Ness "seeking dirt"?

What law did he break, what statute and in what jurisdiction ?
Remember, these people are lawyers.
Yes, they are unethical, crooked and corrupt but you can bet it's all legal.

Someone at Moon of Alabama said Extortion.

However, I'm positive that if as aGS-12, I held up appropriated funds to a contractor on say condition that he hire my family member, I would have been prosecuted and sacked for some statute.
Even worse, if I held up funds to say the State of Illinois unless they fired an ADA who was investigating my son.
What statute? I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure there is one.
