Top 5 Russia-conspiracy fails of Rachel ‘highest-ratings-ever’ Maddow

Why do people listen to this obnoxious critter hyperventilate and exaggerate? I could never stand watching her.

Top 5 Russia-conspiracy fails of Rachel ‘highest-ratings-ever’ Maddow

Maddow has made a name for herself as one of the most prolific conspiracy theorists in US mainstream news when it comes to all things Russia-related. Her laser-focus on Russia has even become the stuff of news reporting itself, with The Intercept, The Nation and Paste magazine all publishing pieces questioning Maddow’s single-minded obsession and her “all roads lead to Moscow” approach to journalism.

*

1. Exposed: Russia and North Korea share a border!

In a true journalism scoop by any standards, Maddow revealed in June (after much Google Maps research, no doubt) that Russia shares a border with North Korea. After a three-minute-long build up, packed with serious implications that she was about to impart some hugely significant piece of information to her viewers, Maddow revealed the geographical fact, which anyone with access to a map could have discovered on their own – and which most geographically-aware humans hopefully already knew.

It was all part of an 18-minute-long attempt to prove that the person who benefits most from good relations between the US and North Korea is actually Vladimir Putin – and that he secretly controlled the whole Singapore summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, no less.

*

5. ‘We’ve got Trump’s tax returns!’ (or not)
Possibly Maddow’s biggest Trump/Russia fail ever was the bombshell she claimed she had regarding Trump’s personal tax returns. One March day last year, Maddow tweeted a serious teaser for her audience. It was a clear statement of fact: “We've got Trump tax returns,” she wrote, imploring viewers to tune in later that night and even adding “(seriously)” in brackets to really drive home what a big deal this show was going to be.

This is what passes for journalism today in the USofA. BS and propaganda are what they’re pushing, all they’re pushing. Oddly, they don’t have much shelf life though. The big stories of last week are nowhere to be found today. Take for instance the one in the NYT

I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-r...

Heard any more on that? Hell no. It’s not as important as the size and shape if Trump’s penis. That’s pretty much how disgusting the ‘left’ is now. All their stories revolve around sex, rape, hookers wetting the bed, and somebody’s junk.

Stormy Daniels' tell-all book on Trump: salacious detail and claims of cheating

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/sep/18/stormy-daniels-tell-all-...

There are some people with some really loosely-goosey morals running Al From/Bill Clinton’s Koch-Brothers-financed, Turd Way, Neo-liberal ‘New’ Democratic Party. But that seems very fitting since the man who fronted for it all launched it right after a sex scandal of his own.

where the Resistance can get their nightly fear and loathing fix.

Rachel's better ratings are more of a sign that courting Dem Enders with Russiagate conspiracy theories has suicided the competition and so now the remaining holdouts are coalescing around the one true Hillbot left:

CNN ranked No. 6 across basic cable in total prime time viewers, and No. 5 in total day this past week. Despite the top 10 finishes, the network was -36 percent in prime time viewers, and -41 percent in total day viewers vs. the same week last year.

Call it Peak Rachel.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

an “insider” can do no wrong. President Trump, on the other hand, is, and always will be, an “outsider.”

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/27/business/from-outside-or-inside-the-d...

After dinner, “Larry leaned back in his chair and offered me some advice,” Ms. Warren writes. “I had a choice. I could be an insider or I could be an outsider. Outsiders can say whatever they want. But people on the inside don’t listen to them. Insiders, however, get lots of access and a chance to push their ideas. People — powerful people — listen to what they have to say. But insiders also understand one unbreakable rule: They don’t criticize other insiders.

“I had been warned,” Ms. Warren concluded.

..I also agree with Jimmy Dore, who loathes her, with good reason. But I - who never watched a single news show in my life (OK, we all watch hurricanes and car chases), started watching her the day Comey got fired. This is serious shit to many of us, and we deserve to get to the bottom of it.

So now I'm hooked, sure. It's the only TV show I watch daily. That and the first five minutes of @lawrence, because he keeps her on and they share insights.

And what is happening to America is real. We just aren't sure what it is. We are hoping the actual Americans in charge of finding out wtf happened wrspt Russia and the election and all the bullshit do their job, as they are, and help us right this ship.

Signed, a fan.

PS, she's got a great sense of humor, too! Smile

of what’s actually going on. Not everyone involved in government is lining their pockets, doing whatever it takes, legal or not, to rake in the big bucks, at least this is my hope. It actually involve only a small handful of miscreants, but it’s almost certainly going to involve some higher ups in both parties.

Partisans on both sides are going to advance both evidence and innuendo that besmirches the other party in order to buff their electoral prospects. These narratives are decidedly not about revealing the unvarnished truth, but are all the MSM is rewarded to broadcast to us.

We have a much better chance of being misdirected than than we do of being well informed when we turn on our TVs.

And other media "personalities" lie through their teeth about what was really going on during the Democratic primary in 2016, I now see cable news functioning much in the way the Borg did in Star Trek: The Next Generation. A reference that seems more fitting each time I find myself speaking with anyone consuming the "news".

circulating about the Russia connection and one seems more compelling than the other.
The President ordered the declassification of the FISA application documents and Strzok/Page emails; this should clarify a few things.
There might be resistance by the DOJ and FBI to do what their boss tells them to do using the excuse, the docs are part of an on-going investigation, so, it might take a minute until we get to read them.
There’s nothing about the docs that threaten national security, according to the congressmen who’ve seen them.
We the people, want transparency, the docs will eventually be released.
The bottom seems pretty deep and we will get there.
When they do get released, TRMS will be focusing on some unrelated, obscure, non-event; just like when the IG report came out and the MSM presented wall to wall coverage of the practice of not sending the children to jail with their parents when they crossed the border illegally.
We can get the real scoop right here. I have a feeling Amanda Matthews will be writing about it when the truth comes out.

@gulfgal98 @ovals49 Yes, if the MSM is the only thing you listen to. I also come here, listen to many podcasts, and invite the other side (my brother most often) to make their case. It's why I am keen on Jordan Peterson; I suspect I don't agree with some of his paternalism deep down, but he has taken the time to justify his positions.

The media is all we have to protect us from those monsters, don't you agree? I mean, they aren't perfect, aren't going to gt it right every time, but to the extent they are Constitutionally free from influences, they are invaluable. We bloggers keep em honest. Denigrate them to the point where you are sure they are lying to you (see Dore) and you lose them as a potential ally. Yeah, America is wayy too partisan and political today. This seems to me to be a direct consequence of the discovery that negative reporting stirs much more emotion than positive. Behavioral science did that.

The media and the "personalities" whose job it is to whip audiences into a partisan frenzy are no more going to protect you and I from the powerful psychopaths who are actually running this country then they are giving up their million dollar paychecks.

But I will remain acutely "cynical" about how the power brokers use the media while others delude themselves into thinking that it is not functioning as the propaganda arm of the actual monsters running this country.

@Deja Ow I'm so intimidated by your criticism that I think I'll abdicate my First Amendment Rights. I thought the piece was was dumb and bad journalism, and slanted, and a lil yella..

So I called it out. Piece of shit writing. I stand by that. I'm tired of sifting through jerkoff articles pretending to mean something. Is all.

Bernie is a win-win.

for two basic reasons..... she took so long to get to the point talking in circles to build up the drama. It was so annoying. Second, she always asked her guests if she "got it right" and they of course would sing the praises of her accuracy. The flattery digging was so obvious.

Since then, from what I've read, she's become a hysterical headline chaser. A real shame.
