Time for a new peace movement
Especially if Hillary wins.
That movement helped propel Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential primaries, as Hillary Clinton well remembers. The organizers demanded that goals and timetables be set for American withdrawal, forcing the return home of 90 percent of US troops—until the resurgence of Sunni-Shia sectarianism helped the rise of ISIS and forced the United States down the path of drone warfare, redeployment of Special Forces, and even some ground troops. Another escalation is the present danger. Until the balance either on the ground or in American politics shifts again, we could sink into a new Dark Age.
Because everybody has lots of spare time on their hands.

We do need a new peace movement.
The democrats are a morally bankrupt party and peace will most certainly not be a concern with Hillary. Frankly, there is no voice for peace from either of the two major parties.
A peace movement to fight Democrats makes far less sense than a peace movement that supports Greens. So Tom Hayden, you wanted Hillary and you got her. Maybe you should reconsider your Democratic loyalist position if you are truly for a new peace movement ?

I think that was one of the reasons Obama was selected
To win the presidency. He hinted at not being a war president by saying all the right things, but then expanded the war in Afghanistan, tried to stay in Iraq after the deadline and then started using drones in countries that had nothing to do with 9/11 or actually had terrorists in them. Yet.
And even when he destroyed Libya, people on the left didn't say anything. In fact, they believed the government propaganda that Gaddafi was killing his peop.
There were some people who tried to warn us, but I know I didn't listen to them.
His job was to shut down the anti war movement. And it worked.
The US overthrew Ukraine's government, but people blamed Putin for the fighting in Ukraine.
We were called Putin lovers. The new 'you're either with us or against us' routine.
And now he and NATO have surrounded Russia because of Putin's aggression. And is playing with the Chinese in their own waters.

Obama put the left to sleep. Then he wasn't quite bad enough to stir up enough passion to physically protest. And he won The Nobel Peace prize!
In his second term he went full 1%.

Used to be against everything Obama and Hillary has done when it was Bush and Cheney doing them.
Hillary has said that she will obliterate Iran if they attack Israel or if they start their nuclear program again. Not Iran's military and its leaders, but all of Iran.
And some people wonder why we are hated? Or why 9/11 happened.

Will be up to the Europeans to stop the wars
I believe any US peace movement will be put down by the Democratic establishment the same way OWS was put down. Plus most party loyalists/activists will support Hillary's war making. The gop will support the wars but not the Dems running them. They want gopers to run them.
I believe Hillary means to go after the Russians and Iranians, which will spill over into Europe and involve NATO. The Europeans will have to ask themselves if they want a repeat of WWII, only with nukes. Actually it has already spilled over into Europe with the Syrian war refugees and ISIS attacks.
It seems to me only the European masses can halt the wars as America will be in the same war mode as we were in the early stages of the Bus administration, but with the Dems in charge instead.
Russia is a huge concern of mine
Obama and Hillary are both dead set on forcing Putin to the brink of nuclear confrontation.
To see who blinks first? Is that as sophisticated as U.S. foreign policy gets? A grade school stare down?

As a little girl I feared WW3
I had nightmares about nuclear war. But I had this notion that we would be the "good guys". As if.
Now I know that America will be and always have been the bad guys. If there is a WW3 we will be the bad guys.
My only hope is Bernie or that some other country/countries LIBERATE us.
My country is too dangerous to the planet, to decency, to our children and grandchilden to continue on like this.
Things are going to become very dark regardless which bastard gets "elected". Trump/Hillary both are going to tear this country to shreds. So we MUST keep Peace in our daily lives, we MUST continue to try to live with Peace in all that we do. While we rage against the evil, we can and must find some balance and peace.
It's hard to do. I sometimes feel so hopeless and so enraged. But we can't give up. But we can continue with Peace.

Tom Hayden certainly seems optimistic about the future
of the Democratic Party. And yet I am still hearing, "Hillary doesn't need to do anything anyone else asks! She is winning and she shouldn't change a thing!"
I don't have real high hopes that the Berners can hold her to peace after the election.
