Sorry for the shabby presentation. I just spent the last three days coaxing, cajoling, and conning my notebook into installing Photoshop 7. This is my first foray back into the visual arts in over ten years. I'm still a little rusty.

I actually never saw a Burma Shave Sign in RL
Closest I ever got was the "Mystery Spot" signs for Santa Cruz, CA.
And I'm kinda broke right now. I'm going to have to continue just volunteering for local stuff and writing.![Smile](https://caucus99percent.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I remember Burma Shave.
Out west, some tourist dump put up billboards telling of its existence for miles and miles. When you finally got to it, it was so disappointing that even as a six year old, I had to laugh.
My favorite road signs as a kid
were the ones for Jackalopes in NM. Later, I liked the Mystery House ones that can found all over during a CA to WA trip. I had a lot of trouble resisting those. = )

MY fav road sign was RED APPLE REST STOP AHEAD
Anyone who grew up in NYC but made the trip upstate during the summer knows this sign very well... It meant you were not only almost to your destination but you could finally go to the bathroom and EAT.![Smile](https://caucus99percent.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)

Thanks for the reminder AB...
Per your request, I hit the donate button and made it monthly, so I won't have to be reminded again. This is relatively easy for me to do, but I very much appreciate that it is not for everyone, alas.
Kudos and thanks to Johnny the Conquerer and all for the outstanding and tireless work to keep C99P up and running!
The spirit of party serves to enfeeble the Public Administration,
agitates with Jealousies and false alarms, and opens the door to corruption,
which finds access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.

I only remember one penultimate sign
Ben-Anna split. Har-har for an 8 yr old.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
My sister and I used to laugh at countdown signage
for a Stuckey's, near Indianapolis, home of their famous pecan log roll. We never got to stop there. Snicker in the back seat of the Mercedes Benz. Once, in Indianapolis, my father rear-ended someone, and the newly installed lap belts held us in the back seat, while the back seat cushion shot forward. Daddy cursed. He did that alot. We didn't snicker then.

Who can ever forget WALL DRUG?
Coming back from SF on I-80 the signs began about 500 miles out (IIRC) and as you got closer, each one said XXX miles to Wall Drug, then eventually XX miles, then X miles. It seemed like the only way to know that the vast nothingness of driving east wasn't really a gigantic hamster wheel.
