Ted Rall - 2 excellent videos

Ted is mostly known for his political cartoons.

He became a event on dailykos when he posted cartoons for free but his drawings of PRESIDENT Obama were taken to be a hit on Obama because he looked like a monkey to them. You can find him on dailykos and his Good By Cruel World diary described the dailykos allegiance to DLC/DNC and how they attack people who are not in line.

The two videos are from his talks in Seattle WA. Both were made by I think was a one person effort to produce PirateTV which are posted once per week on Free Speech TV. I don't watch much TV and get Free Speech TV on Dish NW, and saw an incredible presentation by Bill McKibben about the rising resistance to climate destroying efforts like KXL and how many of the fights are being one and the view on the climate is changing. He says that it might not be possible to save the climate, but it is worth fighting for. (I could say a lot more about this, but this post is about Ted)

I had never seen Ted Rall before in a video. He sure doesn't look like the demon that he was portrayed to be on dailykos. The first video from 2013 is on his graphic novel biography of Edward Snowden and the second was from Feb 2015 on his graphic novel of Bernie Sanders.

His publisher approached him to do the book on Snowden to do something positive. The book sold better than expected, so his publisher asked him to do a follow up book on Bernie.

I have watched the first video almost 2 times. He is extremely articulate and one thing new I learned was that when Edward was in the air from Hong Kong to Russia, Scty State Hillary voided his passport which left him stranded in the airport. Ted points out how dumb it was to strand him in Russia. I did get the book from the library and it is very well done and for almost all Americans who don't know his story, it is important.

One more thing. This link is to a youtube posting. It has been seen by something over 140 people. Are those counts accurate? And I was able to say that I liked the videos without having to connect to facebook or other hurdles and i liked both of them and the like count for the first is now up to 3 and the second one is now up to 14. Anyone know about how those counters work?

Both of the videos are around an hour so you might want to put them on in the background but in any case well worth watching. I have only watched the first part of his Bernie video but he clearly lays out what is at stake ...

And, he's traveled to Afghanistan and other places made hostile by US policy to write books. I admire the guy.

I can see why he wasn't a good fit at twerpville: Rall is very far away from being a neoliberal. You know, he brought unwelcome truths that were not appreciated.

I remember the Ted Rall lynching. Wasn't the first and certainly hasn't been the last. Hope you visit more often.

But at the same time he's much more cynical than I am.

So, IMHO, he's worth reading and listening to for some perspective at least.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Part of his persona

As I continued to listen to the second video I am struck about how well informed he is.

I suppose after publishing something like 18 books, making a living as a political cartoonists, and being outspoken politically, maybe I shouldn't be surprised at how well informed he is

And what a contrast to the corporate news

The second video from this Feb is good on his sense of the Bernie movement

We went, twice I think, to central Asia unaccompanied to gather information for his books. In a time with embedded journalists, this is praiseworthy.
