Team Trump are Bringing the Violence
This provides an interesting insight. I had assumed that the Trump supporters arrived at Trump's rallies already filled with hate and looking for an outlet. Apparently that may not be the case:
The other striking aspect of these rallies is how affable the crowd is — until the Trump campaign cranks up the intolerance. Waiting hours for their candidate to arrive, supporters snapped photos of one another, chatted and cooed at babies in their parents’ arms. But when Mr. Trump and his warm-up crew, led Sunday by an aide, Stephen Miller, had the stage, a different undercurrent could be felt. There was an onstage tribute to people “murdered by illegal immigrants.” As a few protesters were ejected, Mr. Miller ranted into the mike: “You just heard a mother whose child was murdered and you want to sow chaos? What kind of person are you?”
If the NYT piece is accurate a couple of conclusions can be drawn:
The violence and hatred comes from the stage - it is a very deliberate stoking of the fires by Trump and his team as opposed to focusing a hatred from the crowd. This is chilling.
The crowd are not going to the rallies to initiate violence. (I would love to know how they feel a few days after the fact) are they energized by the violence or does buyers remorse set in?
Anyway this is all very tentative with many shades of gray but I thought the comment about the affability of the crowd before the show started was worth noting.
Also it is good to see the NYT editorial board at least paying the violence at thre Trump rallies some attention - and, it was a relief to see that they are not attempting a 'both sides to it' slant by mentioning Sanders, BLM etc.

I have hope.
The world turns. What is, is not necessarily what will be.
The fact that there is at least a little empathy there is good, but Trump turns it foul by tapping into that primal fear of "The Other." What's the saddest part is that it's all for the ambition of one fool.
So, I'll try to be positive instead, because I can.

Interesting because
this is related to tomorrow's OT topic.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
Looking forward to reading it.
Any discussion on the dynamics of what is happening is a good thing, anything that sheds light.

Toomorrow will be part 1
of a two part essay with the second part the following Wed. It is more an analysis of how and why.

Your BP Gulf Coast roundups
