Swamp update: R(h)inos, Dinos and Alligator races--news from Florida

Hmmm. Safe? Better look around. Gotta be careful these days.

Yep. Things are lookin' good.

With great circumcision circumspection and deep cogitation (from the swamp bottom), it has been apparent to me that c99 needs a dose of thinking outside the box. Oh, my bad. Very few Demonrats here. So most of us are already in a political twilight zone. Let me recommence this assault essay in the usual fashion:

Fellow swampers and those who prefer to remain dry:

The October surprise (aka welcome relief) for many of you has been freeing you (or, as they say in Florida, y'all) from the merciless pounding of my intensely-felt reptilian psyche's assault on the political sensibilities which some of you may possess. It is a difficult position in which to be, politically neither fish nor fowl, although I will dine on either. In my sabbatical from rationality (which some here severely doubt has ever existed), I have explored the intertubez sampling "thought" from various sources. If one were to believe the majority of caca de vaca spewed on YouTube, there is no coherence in describing our community's political position as a whole, whether viewed from "right of center" or "left of center".

Most of us were Berniecrats once upon a time. We saw through the veil of obfuscation and lying so proficiently supplied by establishment Demonrats, and of course the Repugnants also. If I may, speaking for most of us, we occupy a political no-man's land (or, no-woman's land--or insert any of the other 17 recognized genders to suit your preferences). Even those to the right center, including those only slightly off the political midline, consider such antiquated XXs as Nancy "We're all capitalists" Pelosi as "socialists". This would be humorous were it not so blindly and ridiculously incorrect. NP is an establishment tool. Chuckles is too. Those of Clintonian persuasion view us as "far leftists", equating what used to be called Progressivism with Antifa. Antifa is a far-leftist neo-Nazi organization with destructive tactics and no corrective plan. I equate Antifa with the establishment Dims as being driven solely by hatred, offering no corrective measures other than "resist". Of course Waters and company would deny all this, while propagating actual coercion of Repugnants and other non-believers. Is "impeach 45" a valid plan? Even if Pence were not a theocrat, would the country be in better shape without El Trumpo?

Resist what?

Shock! Horror! We could be doing much worse under Neocon-Theocrat Pence than under the relatively less bellicose Trump. Damning by faint praise, are the alternatives to 4-10-20 any better on either side of the aisle? No, no and no. Rubio? Cruz? One a Neocon and the other a Theocrat. Who also lurks in the political background for team red? Kasich?

But....how about Bernie? When Bernie metamorphosed from a real Progressive into a flea-ridden sheepdog, he effectively discarded 40 years of fighting the good fight and in his dotage went for the gold instead of the goal. So whom else do we have on the so-called Left on which to base our hopes for equitable, fair opportunity and support for those who cannot compete in the open market (whatever that may be). On the Right, this empathetic support of those unable to compete economically is derided as giving "free stuff" to those who don't deserve it. Libertarians are just as hard-hearted when considering social support.

The Neocons can pull $88 B out of the air for useless weaponry (unless one considers being the world's biggest bully) as necessary, yet decry $ 88 B (more or less less) for social support, such as M4A and social security--which they could also manufacture out of thin air and green ink thanks to a fiat currency.

Now on to Florida

Yours truly spent much time observing and also judging the all-Florida Alligator races during my tour up and down both coasts. It is truly amazing how many Reptiles have positions in governance in the Sunshine State. Perhaps all the politicos have moderate to advanced heat stroke.

Senator Bill Nelson: One source says Silent Bill supports Big Biz almost 50% of the time. And in true Demonratic fashion loves them high taxes, even if he likes the MIC quite a bit. Many of his votes are agreeable, liberal (in the old sense of the word), as revealed here. Much of his proposed legislation is laudable. What the summaries don't mention is Senator Nelson's attendance at sessions of the complete Senate, as opposed to committee meetings. Committee attendance can relate to the boring, administrative type to pointed political debate--of which the current election cycle has seen precious little emanating from either side of the duopoly.

Governor Snott, who famously forbade State employee's from using the words climate and change in the same sentence, has criticizedNelson as a do-nothing. Unsurprisingly, this, as cited above is grossly incorrect. But then again, does any sane person expect better from Governor Snott?

Nelson said he favored comprehensive immigration reform and pointed out that he voted for the bipartisan Senate immigration legislation that died in 2013 in the House, where the GOP majority refused to even hear the bill. Nelson said the bill’s failure, coupled with President Donald Trump’s family separation policy at the borders, have led to horrific results

This, of course, mis-states the fact that Hussein first caged and separated undocumenteds from their families. I can forgive this purely partisan claim in view of past voting--even if Nelson supported the Hildebeast in 2016. Nelson is one of the few Dims I could support if I lived in Florida.

Without further citation, it is only needed to say the Gov. Scott's venality lies barely beneath the surface of his shaven skull. All of his crony deals (well, maybe not all) are public knowledge in the Sunshine State, where unfortunately the beneficial sanitizing effect of solar radiation has been blocked by a steady fog of propaganda.

Governor Nasal Discharge has been implicated in the following:

1. perversion of a "blind trust".

Gov. Rick Scott’s purportedly “blind” trust isn’t supposed to tell him or anyone else what it does with his money. He’s not allowed to direct where it goes. But somehow Scott’s trust and his wife both invested in the parent company of a high-speed passenger rail firm whose projects the governor publicly supports.

Both also invested in a Michigan plastics firm that has made parts for the passenger train. The sale of that company yielded $550 million in windfalls to the Scotts.

And both invested, although separately, in a total of two dozen hedge funds registered in the Cayman Islands, a place often linked to tax avoidance.

The governor, who’s running for the U.S. Senate, wants voters to believe his “blind” trust and Ann Scott made these investments by coincidence. But that’s a heap of coincidence.

2. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"

Back in January 2012, Scott was an investor in the private equity firm that owned 21st Century Oncology, the high-flying cancer-care company Dosoretz founded and ran until shortly before it crash-landed last year in federal bankruptcy court after paying millions to settle allegations of Medicare and Medicaid fraud. (21st Century emerged from bankruptcy protection in February 2018 with a new leadership team.)

Also in January 2012, Scott appointees on the board of taxpayer-supported Broward Health voted to award Fort Myers-based 21st Century an unprecedented, 25-year no-bid contract to supply millions of dollars in radiation oncology services to the hospital district’s patients.

It wasn’t long before 21st Century began contributing big to Scott’s re-election campaign. Between May 2012 and January 2014, 21st Century contributed more than $360,000 to the governor’s Let’s Get to Work Political Action Committee. A few months later, Gov. Scott held a press conference at 21st Century’s headquarters. After Scott won re-election, 21st Century gave an additional $30,000 to Scott’s PAC, for a total of $390,000, state records show.

Scott started what was first Columbia in 1987, purchasing two El Paso, Texas, hospitals. Over the next decade he would add hundreds of hospitals, surgery centers and home health locations. In 1994, Scott’s Columbia purchased Tennessee-headquartered HCA and its 100 hospitals, and merged the companies.

In 1997, federal agents went public with an investigation into the company, first seizing records from four El Paso-area hospitals and then expanding across the country. The investigation focused on whether Columbia/HCA had committed Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

Scott resigned as CEO in July 1997, less than four months after the inquiry became public. Company executives said had Scott remained CEO, the entire chain could have been in jeopardy.

Unfortunately, the charges, although valid, were voiced by the peoples' friends in the DSCC (which stands for Deceive, Steal, Coerce, Confuse). Thus in true shoot-the-messenger style, these charges were viewed by Repugnant-leaning voters with same credulity of HRC's undergoing sniper fire in Bosnia.

Surprisingly, in this Peninsular campaign, this is the ONLY Florida race in which I give preference to Clintonite Nelson, a Demonrat. The rest of the choices are really about TGOTE (the greater of two evils). Swimming around the state, watching the Alligator races up close, the rest of the contests in the headlines are odious, to say the least.

Next on the list of infamy is the contest between Neocon Trumpite DeSantis and lying SOS Gillum. Should I waste time on DeSantis? If you're okay with giving up "free stuff" like Medicare (let alone M4A) or social security, etc, then Ronnie is your guy. Sounds like a clear shot at the Governorship for Gillum, right? Wrong.

DeSantis votes for things inimicable to a just society (which does in no way include a snowflake society of crybabies, who have never lived a life of deprivation compared to the majority of the known world). But Gillum is a work of art, a real POS lying SOB. Amongst the Democrats, except for DWS, Gillum is an obvious outright fraud. His primary campaign touted M4A. One day after winning the primary receiving less than half the vote, this POS switched to "affordable care". Bernie supported him in the primary but apparently does not discuss Gillum now--even if Bernie did still support Gillum, I could care less. Sadly, Bernie currently is no more progressive than last month's newspaper. Here's why Gillum would be a disaster.

Regardless of the very telling videos by Project Veritas showing Omar Smith honestly informing the covert investigator that the biggest fable in American Society does not begin with "Once upon a time"; instead it begins with "When I get elected".

There's more about this in print, including the usually left-leaning Slate: What we know about the FBI's corruption investigation in Tallahassee.

According to the Tallahassee newspaper, three undercover FBI agents showed up in Tallahassee back in 2015, posing as out-of-town developers interested in pursuing opportunities in the state capital. The agents then spent the next year hobnobbing with local business leaders and cozying up to local officials before disappearing in early 2017. That summer, the FBI delivered subpoenas to the city government requesting thousands of pages of documents dating back to 2012. More subpoenas soon followed, as did the apparently accidental unsealing of a search warrant targeting a city commissioner and his long-time business associate. While it’s impossible to say how far along the investigation is today, judging by the number of local businessmen spotted last month going in and out of a local federal courtroom with their white-collar attorneys in tow, indictments could be on the horizon.

See the date of the investigation's origination--2015. This was under the Hussein administration, not Trump's. This guy has got to be really corrupt for corruptocrats like Lynch and Comey to investigate him. Really, does this fellow have any sense or is he just another arrogant DNC puppet? My choice is the latter.

While DeSantis is a typical Repugnant, he doesn't lie about it. We know where he stands (or slithers, depending upon your viewpoint). Gillum who had at best a 3 point lead two weeks ago is very likely to tank.

No Florida essay should be considered complete without reference to Duplicitous Washerwoman Schultz. An avid supporter of Imran Awan, mother hen of Awangate (spygate) and vote thief, DWS makes an open mockery of everything good governance is supposed to represent.

Florida is an exemplar of two-tiered justice. Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi is not pursuing any charges against Democrat Broward County board of election chief who destroyed paper ballots prematurely in 2016's race between DWS and Tim Canova, violating both FL state law (requiring 17 months ballot retention) and Federal law (requiring 22 months ballot retention).

The question now becomes not how corrupt Florida's governance is, but will the Blue Team dominate or will Team Red dominate? Swirl them around a few times and see what you get.

Fearless prediction based upon extensive study:

Gillum loses. DWS wins. Nelson/Snott too close to call.

Thus, red and blue mixed and swirled (like a good martini) Florida shall remain a purple haze.

Had no idea gators could hold their breath so long. So elephant / donkey sausage is a thing now? Smells like ripe head cheese to me. Yukk. Guess anything is better boiled in dishonest dollars.

@QMS
Canova will win,but it isn't likely. Tomorrow should be interesting.
Good call on Antifa. Their rioting is less than helpful, even though they seem to have some rooters here--much to my sorrow.

no time to read, but then...i don't give a rat's ass about voting for duopoly candidates in any event. i take that back: i voted for one nominal D for county commissioner. she's a peach. ; ) ballot issues? yeah, they can matter.

Canova barely beats DWS. By a couple thousand votes. DWS becomes a consultant or becomes a pundit on MSNBC or regains a position in the DNC. Because neoliberals never go away.

Gillum beats DeSantis. Barely. The combined geriatric forces of the Villages and Fort Myers in tandem with the Panhandle won't be enough to get DeSentis the win. But DeSantis might win because of the cantankerous abuelo y abuela vote.

Bill Nelson is dragged across the finish line by Gillum because honestly Rick Scott just needs to go the hell away and defraud some more in the private sector.

Stephanie Murphy loses to Mike Miller. This is Florida, after all.

My take is a little different. I hate all the intrigue around Gillum, but the FBI has repeatedly said he is not the subject of their investigation. However, City Commissioner Scott Maddox, who was in the past a friend and mentor to Gillum, is. So take it for what you want. I worked with Gillum and knew him from his early days as a City COmmissioner in Tallahassee and I really liked him a lot when he was on the Commission. For that reason, it pains me to see him change positions. When I knew Gillum, he was very progressive, so I wonder if the Democratic party machine has not gotten to him. Or perhaps it is his political ambitions.

Gillum is probably the best campaigner I have ever seen. He is extremely bright, quick on his feet as evidenced by his performance in the debates, and has the potential to bring out large numbers of voters. I think the Florida governor's race is too close to call, but if Gillum wins, he may help Nelson beat Scott. If Gillum loses, Nelson will lose IMHO. I have real problems with Nelson and his huge support of the MIC.

I have read that a recent poll showed that Tim Canova has a real chance of beating DWS. I would hope so.

@snoopydawg a friend worked with her and my friend's assessment of DWS back then was that she was not very smart. I hope Tim Canova can pull this one out.
