Support for Single Payer Grows, But Uncle Sam Needs You
Just read Steven's excellent essay sharing his family recent healthcare experiences.
As usual when I read this type of news I am motivated to stave off depression by going to my favorite antidote, the website or twitter stream of PHNP .
@PNHP
Single payer, national health insurance advocacy organization with more than 20,000 physician members. #MedicareForAll #SinglePayer
I was just reminded by jakkalbessie that I need to get ready for yoga and that I don't really have time for a post. Still, I feel I must share this and advocate that all good progressives please take a few minutes each day to join the action to educate about single payer.
Here is a good one, by the youngs, to share if you are so motivated:
SNaHP
@snahp_nationalStudents for a National Health Program (SNaHP) is comprised of medical students from 40+ U.S. medical campuses who advocate for single payer health reform.
The supporters are growing for @PNHP's #SinglePayer proposal. Will you be next? To share your voice, endorse here: https://t.co/bNwFwQgHN2 pic.twitter.com/mVHhjAhC73

If you drill down in PNHP website to their Articles of Interest feature you find an article by a doc about where SP stands after rejections of Bernie and in Colorado, etc, and the ascendancy of the Repugs in Congress and Pres.
They have not given up, just point to the reality that much more grunt work must be done to educate about the benefits of Medicare for All and Single Payer.
Dr. @edweisbart decries the political divisions degrading our health care debate, but believes unity is possible. https://t.co/5zCVIAq02l

Unemployment might pick up a bit, if physicians could cut half
the staff they pay to deal with the various insurance companies, who are doing this all, while whining, for profit. Not care.
I am currently waiting for over a week on preapprovals for tests from two different specialties. I have been a drag on profits this year, individually. Tough beans. Shit happens. And I still need preapproval for an undo surgery to remove the titanium from my arm. The screw heads are uncomfortable, and I developed neuropathies after the implant. Almost to the day, I will attest.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Best to you while youheal! Interestg point about staff.
Our current GP did that, only takes medicare.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
No. They always try to get us to worry about unemployment,
but it's not true in the long run. Cut out the insurance middlemen, eliminate the need for all that paperwork, make healthcare less expensive, not only do we have better care but we end up with more money in our pockets.
So we spend on dinners out or vacations or gym memberships or whatever we would rather spend money on. Or if it's government money, infrastructure. And new jobs are created.
Money doesn't disappear (as long as you keep it away from the pockets of the wealthy), it just gets redirected. Job loss there causes job gain over here.

Per Gallop 58% of Americans want National Health
Majority in US Support Idea of Fed-funded Healthcare system
This is something the American people already want and as more are educated, that number can only increase. The only people who don't want it and say it is an Impossible Dream are the vested interests in a for-profit system and the politicians they have bought off.
Let's be clear about this. When our politicians tell you that people are against government healthcare they are LYING. We have government healthcare already with Medicare, Medicaid and Veteran's health. All can be improved and expanded but NO ONE wants them to go the route of privatization with vouchers except for those who are paid to say so.
