Eustache Le Sueur
Eustache Le Sueur may have been some degree of ancestor of Lucille Fay Le Sueur, better known as the actress Joan Crawford.
Eustache's brother, Francois Le Sueur, was a Huguenot (French Calvinist Protestant) who was part of the Huguenot diaspora after Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes and proceeded to torture and otherwise persecute the Protestants, then ordered them to leave the country.
(This turned out to be a self-destructive move on the part of the French state, since the Huguenots were highly educated and included many of the intellectuals and trained professionals of that time.)
After roaming around Europe and England for a while, Francois Le Sueur, along with many of his fellow Huguenots, ended up emigrating to North America in the late 1600s.
Another one of the Huguenot refugees to the New World was my ancestor, Dr. Pierre Chastain, who arrived in Virginia around the year 1700. Dr. Pierre and his descendants proved to be quite prolific breeders, and 99% of the many thousands of Chastains, Chesteens, etc. in the US are descended from Dr. Pierre and his wives.
The religious "bent" continued in subsequent generations, as some of Dr. Pierre's descendants were among the founders of the Southern Baptist religious denomination.
At any rate, one of Dr. Pierre Chastain's daughters, Elizabeth, married another Huguenot, David Le Sueur. Elizabeth and David were the several-times-great-grandparents of Lucille Le Sueur.
Since Francois Le Sueur arrived on American soil in New York, while the Chastains came in at Virginia, the relationship between David and Francois is not clear. It's on my to-do list for research at Ancestry.com to figure out.

Howling winds (again), snow to the North of me and next precip glop (a weather term) is in the Western Finger Lakes bringing snow. We are supposed to get about an inch of white on top of the clear stuff.
Speaking of stuff, now that I have been under treatment for ulcers for more than a week, I try to eat multiple times/day. Many potato forms in my diet, thinking mashed with cheese might be good for lunch. I am on the lookout for sock deliveries, time to restock in warm + colored instead of black.

Weather is incorrigible, can't fix it so it is pointless to curse it, but I do sometimes anyway. We just had a run of rainy when I needed to be outside. Now that I pretty much must be inside, poof, clear and dry.
Sorry about the ulcers, good luck with them. I too should eat multiple small meals, but it degenerates into the traditional 3 plus snacking. Multiple potato meals sounds doable - I love spuds. Mashed with cheese sounds really good.

Yeah, when you look at Lomonsov it is surprising that he isn't better known. I think it is indeed RUSSIA!, 3 ways.
Russia was considered backward and ignorant by the western world under the Czars. Partly true, no doubt, since Peter the Great agreed.
Lysenko forever tainted Russia's reputation with regard to science since it was presumed that science would be overriden by ideology.
The post WWII anti-Russia madness that still pervades the US, and, to a lesser degree, the west, today.

Women's entropeneurship....I've always wanted to be self-employed. Trying to start a business but getting no response. Nobody wants to pay for any of the things I'm interested in. For now we're helping my mom with the farm, but that won't last forever either. Sigh.
