Photo of a puppy asleep at the beach
'cause I miss riverlover, wah. She went on May Day, I read in the comments on the dkos diary by janis b. International Workers Day, right on. Thanks.
Ssh don't wake the puppy, don't move. Nice warm blue sky. Be still and listen. Okay, now go on. Smile.
peace
you made me go over to dailykos to read janis b tribute
to riverlover's life passed away. I never went there to lurk after the time I left there.
It was quite emotional an experience to see and remember many names I had forgotten over the last years coming back to me in the comments.
It is such a shame that both communities only get together when some of their friends and comrades or favorite writers and authors dies and you remember them all. I would have recommended many comments and janis b tribute over there, if I still could log in. But helas, they couldn't get rid of me fast enough back then and I am stuck. Not logged in and not logged out. kinda weird.
PS @enhydra lutris
I liked your description of Sigmund Freud, "quack, profoundly ignorant of Occam's Razor". Made me laugh. Thank you for your Open Thread. I should read it more carefully in the future and take more time to listen to your musical offerings. I had no idea Marlene Dietrich lived that long. Sigh. I don't find my way around in Berlin anymore. The places look so different from what I remember from the seventies. I almost don't want to go there for real to walk my old neighborhoods from back then. I imagine I will find it a waste. Everything is gone.
Peace.

Happy Sunday
Good morning, mimi, happy to have provided a small chuckle.
We all need all the laughter, giggles and chuckles we can get these days.

And peace to you too, eyo. Thanks for posting that.

Good morning...
No diet day sounds good to me!
Good morning, O'Linda - good to see you. Whoever invented
"no diet day" deserves a medal. I am, sadly, about to have to change certain aspects of my diet and find it terribly incongruous for me. I used to always contend that dieting was a safety risk because folks on lunch break got so wrapped up in their points, calories and carbs that they lost track of reality and were likely to step in front of a bus. Diets really have become something of a fetish in this country, and everybody needs a day off now and then.
Thanks for reading.

Good morning el and all
No diet day....does that mean it is a fasting day? From the look of your pizza, I guess the answer is no ... it is over eating day.

We've been eating lots of salads because the lettuce is coming on quickly, and there is no easy way to put up the excess. Mid summer (when it is too hot) and mid Winter (when it is too cold) are the only time we don't have fresh lettuce.
Here's hoping you all eat well and have good foods to eat!

Good morning, Lookout. Yeah, we eat too much and too well
But, a chacon son gout, or some such. Have a great one.

Atkins
On the Atkins diet (and others of that ilk such as Drinking Man's and South Beach), your salad would be perfectly acceptable as a meal. In fact, the veggies are almost mandatory as an all protein and fat diet is too constipating otherwise.
And our Essayist is right: everybody needs a day off from the diet here and there.

Good day, el. Up, then back to bed, but the mirror
shows no benefit for doing so. Eyo's puppy photo makes me want to rush out and get one.
Some oregano and pepper sprouts showing.
Thanks for the OT and have a good one.
Good morning, Smiley7. How's the wing? My two perpetual
spinach chard plants have finally sprouted.Got to get started with something else now.

Hey el, long time no see.
Thank you for all of the great OTS.
I saw the pizza in your post and this huge sigh came out of me. Pizza is one of my favorite foods, and I haven't had any for almost a year. About 18 months ago, I started waking a couple of miles every day on my treadmill and began to count and budget calories to myself as if they were gold. I've lost 30 pounds, and did I tell you I haven't had a pizza in almost a year? My favorite pizzeria is going to open another location in my neck of the woods. I'm waiting. As soon as they open, I figure I'm due a treat.
Good to see you, and thank you again for all you share.

Heya, dk. Long time indeed. I can sympathize with the pizza
sigh. No pizza for a year would be pretty much unthinkable here - I used to make it about every other week and we would still go our for pizza now and then. Good for you on the treadmill and weight loss. I've got my average daily mileage, actual walking, up to 3.96 miles per day with no noticeable improvement in my health or weight, but ah well.
Thanks for dropping by and have a good one.

It's the calories....
You have to eat less than you burn. With the 250 calories I burn from my walk, I get 1150 calories a day to lose about a pound every one or two weeks. My husband walks and does count his calories even though he watches what he eats. He doesn't lose weight. My 20 something grandsons laugh because they eat a 1,000 calories a meal.
Take care...

Yeah, my intent was never to lose weight, though it now appears
that doing so will also be on the table so to speak. The original goal ws simplyactivity/"exercise".
