Sunday Album Open Thread: Drums of Passion by Babatunde Olatunji

Some Albums really stood out for one reason or another, but never seemed to get the recognition they deserved. There are others that I just like to play every once in a while.

Bob Dylan's "I Shall be Free" published in "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" in 1963 included the line

What I want to know, Mr. Football Man, is
What do you do about Willy Mays, Martin Luther King, Olatunji?

At that time and to this day far too few are hip to the man who brought Yoruba drumming to the US, and his first album, even though Santana and several others cover one of the songs on that album: Drums of Passion. Track 4, "Jin-Go-Lo-Ba", a duet between the mother drum and the baby drum, if nothing else, should be familiar.

Drums of Passion was recorded in 1959 and released in 1960

Naturally, this is an open thread too.

Special bonus, live, with Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Carlos Santana, Hamza el-Din & Bobby Vega (Fire on The Mountain starts at 53:41)
