STOP Act, Live on C-SPAN, 9 a.m. Central time, May 16, 2016

i.e., 8 a.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Mountain, 11 a.m. Pacific

I know many here are annoyed with the "dialing for dollars" culture in DC, so you may also find this interesting. Rick Nolan was in Congress for two terms many years ago when he lived in another district in MN. He then quit, had a business, retired, and ran for office from my district a few years ago. In a preview for this he said it was completely different when he got back to Congress. Apparently he dislikes the "dialing for dollars" culture as much as we do.

I got this from my Rep, Rick Nolan, in an email yesterday:

Republican Congressman David Jolly and I will hold a press conference on Monday to discuss how we can limit Congress' “telemarketing” fundraising culture. Members of Congress need to go to Washington and go to work. They shouldn’t go to Washington and become mid-level telemarketers – spending 30 hours a week “dialing for dollars” in a call center.

You can watch our press conference LIVE on Monday May 16th at 9:00am CST on CSPAN-1.

I can't get past the screen that says "Choose your television provider, Sign In and begin viewing." I click that screen closed with multiple logos (and a scroll to choose other providers) and get the message: "You must log in with your television provider in order to view the C-SPAN Live streams."

I do not HAVE a "television provider." I view all TV shows online. I can get free TV viewing of live webcasts from Europe, fer pete's sake, which makes that the far better option for TV watching!!! I turned off my TV a couple of years ago, never had cable anyway because TV with rabbit ears had too many irritating commercials and too many sports shows and it doesn't seem paying for cable got anything better, and I damn sure was NOT going to pay a cable fee for NOT watching those fucking sports channels I couldn't opt out of if I had decided to get cable. No, thank you.

So, now what? Wait until the show is over and hope I can see a re-run online?

I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute ..., where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference. — President John F. Kennedy, Houston, TX, 12 September 1960
