Standing Rock: Every Day of December Is a Day of Action

Here's a minute of inspiration for you.

Don't wonder what you can do. Make a phone call, sign a petition, talk to your friends, send money, send supplies, organize a community action where you live. Move your money. Please. I believe we must act together, in larger and larger numbers.

Murdoch Belcourt offers these and other free images for banners or signs. And there's stuff you can buy to support them, as they support us.

George Joseph and CityLab have produced some amazing graphics of oil "incidents" across the United States for thirty years. Some of them are gifs, and the blooming of the death and destruction across the country is visually powerful -- and enraging. It's worth spending some time at that link, and be sure to scroll down. Here's one paragraph:

As the time lapse shows, significant pipeline-related incidents have picked up in recent years in certain states. In Texas, for example, the effects of the state’s drilling boom may be seen in its increased accident rate: since 2009 the state has had 497 incidents, over a hundred more than in the seven years before.

We are allowing the greed and disdain of the wealthiest among us to destroy the physical fabric of this land. I want a completely different paradigm. I want all of these pipelines stopped. I want these extractive industries shut down or transformed into something sustainable. I'm done with fossil fuels.

Here's an 8-minute update from Kelsey (sp?) of the Lakota People's Law Project. [video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4nAyFTlF0M]She talks about a petition, construction of barracks at camp for the veterans arriving, and other updates, and you can see folks sledding in the background. She wants us to know that though there has been a lot of panic on social media about the evacuation orders and other threats

The atmosphere at camp is still high energy and positive

That is the impression I get every time I listen to the indigenous leadership. They need all of us, but they got this. They are clear, they are determined, they are not worried about the weather or the governor, and they don't hate the cops.

Here are some canoes arriving on December 1 (1:30 mins) [video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d__Oik4M1dc&feature=youtu.be]

Did you know that Dalrymple will no longer be the governor of ND after December 15? Suddenly, yesterday, there was a flurry of tweets, though it was not really "news." He had decided not to run this year, and Doug Burgum, a new Republican governor, will take over in 2 weeks. His website looks way conservative, but he's not Dalrymple -- and I read a quote from someone who knew him saying he "has no idea what Burgum will do as governor." I'm gonna be hopeful.

Here's some financial stuff that I don't really understand, so I can't interpret, but maybe someone else here will take a look at it and give us some insight. "High-Risk Financing Behind DAPL."

Here's a more easy to understand -- but less objective -- look at the finances of the DAPL.

And today I can prepare a box to send with metal mesh gloves. 2 pairs, different sizes IIRC. I am completely behind this, I understand their idea of power. Much like Bernie's, but in a full-stress situation. This must stop here, and also elsewhere that new pipeline is being laid. We all live under the cloud, and water is life.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

I quoted the whole poem, because far too many people only know snippets. When the Elites killed poetry in the mass media, they killed all the canaries in the literary coalmine.

Of course, those at the top have a nasty habit of shooting messengers.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

From my first college English class. What powerful images come to mind when a few words on a page are put together in just the right way.

Keep it coming. I send what I can. It's not much but I feel very strongly about making this cause.

where the rest of the morally bankrupt Dems are is a mystery. Probably out whoring for the Oil Cos.
Thanks Tulsi!!

Good to hear the Vets are assembling in big numbers. Maybe the optics of Fascist Pigs tear gassing Vets will be what wakes up the Assholes in washington. That will make a nice christmas card image to send to the members of congress and obama.

Edit: One can only wonder why Tear Gassing Prayer Circles Of Peaceful Native Americans (men, women and children) was not sufficiently bad optics. But of course we're dealing with politicians who don't know what morality means.
