The sparrow on Good Friday with Bernie

Bernie Sanders had an omen of significance as a humble sparrow landed in front of Bernie on his podium while addressing a Portland, Oregon audience on Good Friday, 25 March, the last of the 3 holy days before Easter this year 2016.bernie and sparrow1.jpeg

Sparrows may have some symbolism, I don't know for sure, perhaps it means a triumph after a period of suffering.

Certainly Bernie has been attacked on many fronts, even from within the Hillary camp itself, with its strategic use of moles and phony volunteers in his campaign most recently.

One usually associated with the people and home. Often associated with god/goddesses of home and hearth.

Yes, the symbolism is freaking perfect, especially when Bernie followed it up with a call for no more wars.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

I don't think a lot of people know that. I think we should let EVERYONE know that. Spread the word about sparrow symbolism. People are superstitious. Seriously, does a sign have to hit people in the head to be called a sign? I think not. I can very well see this event being discussed in Christian circles. Real Christians, not faux Christians who've been led astray by false teachers.
This sparrow will cause many spiritually minded people to take notice. I feel certain of this.

Some symbolic meaning of sparrows include: creativity, simplicity, joy, protection, friendliness, community, productivity.

Sparrows derive power from their numbers. Always in a clan, they move in clusters, eat in clusters, and are always content as such. This can be quite intimidating to some would-be predators. Safety in numbers is a lesson the sparrow has to share with us.

The sparrow is vigilant in her goals. She is always bustling for her food, foraging for her nests, and gathering for her young. Fastidious and productive, the sparrow is a reminder that idle hands (and idle minds) should be avoided in order to live a full, healthy life.

She is a master of flight, and camouflage, and as such the sparrow teaches us to use our creativity to get around in life – think outside the box, and be creative in solving our problems.

As an air animal totem, the sparrow speaks of higher thoughts and ideals. She beckons us to keep our burdens as light as we can in order to avoid a heavy heart.

the symbolism is wonderful and I've think it's pointing out something really deep and heavy to ponder. And when it gets to the level of a sychronocity, what is that,

not merely a coincidence / god's way of remaining anonymous. Einstein, I think. It starts to give me the heebie-jeebies, chills, goose-bumbs, ect. spooky but in an awesome way. I think we're getting into something big now. Got to be time for Bernie when the tide starts turning.

With all that noise, it is truly amazing that the bird remained very calm.

Thanks so much for the video. I am going to consider that my birthday present. = )

Edit to add: There are now a whole bunch of videos from a lot of different sources and views being posted on YouTube right now. Given the panic over a bird in the comments from HRC and Trump supporters, they are also seeing some symbolism in it. Hopefully, these videos will go viral...several of them. = )

Happy birthday, and happy Good Friday to you.

And seriously...how amazing that this golden sparrow not only remained so calm but actually responded to Bernie's call and came to the podium. I'm a firm believer in "there are no coincidences".

that would be the famous 8 Jan 1959 speech by Fidel Castro, his very first televised address, upon the triumphant arrival of the 1959 Revolution into Havana proper. And the fabled white dove which perched on the commander's shoulder in the course of his speech. I don't think that was staged, it could have been, but I personally think it was a random event, that's one of Carl Jung's synchronicities -- like the the Police album of same name.

Culturally, from my basic ill-informed information, Santería which is practiced on the island, a white dove represents the divinity of an orisha named Obatalá, but it is generally associated with a symbol of peace outside of that.

I never much cared for my Cuban wife's worship of that Afro-Cuban syncretic faith, you get all those weird black voodoo-like dolls which hide in strategic dark corners of my house. Staring at you into infinity. But, unlike Trump and those repugs, I do respect all religions, unconditionally. I kinda got hooked on the Christian methodist angle from my Mom, bless her good soul. Hard to really convert Vilma away from her gods, but it's all good. Live and let live.

the sparrow is a keynote totem in that it represents awakening and the triumph of common nobility. It's a symbol of triumph after long suffering. If a sparrow shows up, it's supposed to reflect a productive and prolific time - awakening energy and vitality. For a person with the sparrow as a totem animal, that person has no fear of anyone or anything and is a survivor no matter what. That person has courage and humility and this positively affects those in proximity.

Yeah, I know this sounds odd, but it sure seems to tie in with Bernie's energy and strengths.

i read about pet cobras, not legal i think, but you can buy de-fanged tarantulas, and i've even seen west african scorpions in pet stores - big black ugly things. you really don't want predators like a pet sharks or alligators, small ones should be okay for an aquarium, but what does that really say about the person's sense of concern of nature.

better to demonstrate a public record of preservation of our natural lands for wildlife habitats for eagles, as one example, instead of promoting fracking, strip mining, keystone xl and oil drilling off coastal areas of our country.

The small but proud sparrow is one of the most common birds. However, it is often overlooked, its power taken for granted. Although it is small, the sparrow animal totem is both powerful and productive. It’s persistence and integrity shows us that we do not have to be big to make a difference. We also do not need to have the biggest and best things in order for our voices to be heard.

Sparrows are bird totems that had long-standing symbolic value in the past. In ancient Britain, for example, sparrows symbolized the friendly spirits of the household. As time progressed on, though, the sparrow became a symbol of peasants and the lower classes. This is quite strange when you think of how the Greeks believed that this little bird was the pet of Aphrodite, the goddess of love.

IOW, the working class.
