So Much to Say

I know this is really just preaching to the choir but I just need to share this because I can say here what I cannot say at GOS or FB.

I will never vote for Hillary. No one could pay me enough to do it. There is no carrot that she and her crew could possibly hold out that would get me to follow and no stick painful enough to goad me into it.

It amazes me how people can willingly overlook the cheating and lies because of whatever. At one point I believed that if the superdelegates and the DNC were truly interested in winning against Trump, they would have backed Bernie. Now I think differently. I think that they believe they have this in the bag, barring a major upset.

Consider this. What if Trump truly is just a plant? If that is the case, expect him to throw it for Hillary. The debates seem to indicate that he is trying to do this. Now what if Trump is actually serious? In that scenario, Hillary will have the full backing of the neocon vote stealing machinations.

Either way, we end up with Hillary.

Now that I have expressed my gloom and doom, here is my hope.

Years ago in the run up to Obama's first term, many were concerned about the possibility of McCain winning because the election would be stolen, just like in 2000 and 2004. The main solution I heard was that we had to vote in such large numbers that it wouldn't even be close. If it isn't close, then they can't steal it because they would have to flip too many votes. It would be too obvious.

My feeling has always been that this is not the best way to overcome a broken election system but, at this point in time, that may be the only option we have. The trouble is, we would have to get enough people voting for Jill to affect the outcome in November.

Voting for Jill in massive numbers might not cause her to win but it could very well cause Hillary to lose. I believe that Hillary losing is the only way that we can move forward. This movement has to grow or else we are screwed.

Now consider what Bernie did. I think that if he had decided to run third party, the movement ultimately would have run out of steam. If he ran and won, too many would probably do the same thing we did when Obama won in 2008; sit back and trust that we were on our way to better government. Perhaps Bernie would not have forgotten us if he won but a truly progressive movement needs more than one leader to grow. When movements are too dependent on a leader, they inevitably fade when the leader is no longer there.

I want to believe that by doing what he did, he understood that his supporters anger would be what is needed to grow the movement for real. He basically fell on his sword to allow us to feel the true burn.

We have been cheated, lied to and they are now attempting to misdirect us. We can't fall for it.

A few months ago, I heard Jill Stein say that there are enough millenials to make a difference in the outcome of the election in November if we can just get them out to vote. I believe that is true. Add in all the non-millenials who are "mad as hell' and not willing to take it anymore, and you have the possibility of a major upset.

Finally, now that Wikileaks is releasing the emails it seems that the early DNC leak was to give them a chance to show their true colors. Mr. Assange is not an American but I think the Democratic party was being given a chance to give Bernie the nod. If they had turned to support Bernie after the DNC leak, the rest of the emails would probably not come out until after Trump was defeated. Note what I said. I believe the current release of emails was going to happen regardless; it was just a matter of timing.

Of course Democratic insider hubris wouldn't let them do the right thing so now the next leaks may very well be the ones that ruin Hillary. Each new release is more damaging than the last one. With the latest release showing that Obama knew about Hillary's server when he claimed he didn't, I think this is building up to a finale that will change the Democratic party forever.

You can just smell their desperation with each release. The attempts to obscure the truth and misdirect us are amazing. Every time they come up with a new excuse, I laugh. The one thing they haven't really done is deny that the emails are true. There have been some half-assed attempts to say they have been altered but when everyone is not hewing to that message, it becomes obvious that the reason for this is that the emails are true and unaltered.

I hope we are able to take advantage of these releases and support Jill Stein and all down ballot true progressives vigorously! At the very least, we need to do whatever we can to ensure that Hillary loses.

We can survive four years of Trump. I sincerely doubt the same can be said of four years of Billary 3.0.

This has been the most vocal I have been ever. It's all because I don't feel like I am going to be jumped on and ridiculed here. I always felt that at GOS which resulted in me not publishing many diaries. I will probably be quiet for a while now but it is nice to know that I have a place to share my voice.

do to the country but I agree with you when you say that we'd stand a better chance with Trump.

Like many here, I can't in good conscience vote for either & if Stein were a candidate of either the Dems or Reps she'd probably be an easy victor. She's not so I'll have to write her name in and hope the Greens get to 5%.

You must be living in one of the benighted few. (There are three where you can't even legally write her in! Shok ) Edit: struggling with emojis - NEVER put one next to a parenthesis! )

I voted "absentee" (Virginia's version of early voting - they have enough loopholes that almost anyone can take advantage of it) yesterday - for Jill, whose electors were right there on the ballot. And I found out that my area had junked the electronic machines and gone over to optically scanned paper ballots (no paper trail yet though), so I have some hope it was really counted.

I have heard that the absentee ballots aren't counted till after election day but they are counted. We need every vote if we are going to at least get Jill to 5%.

As to the optical scanners, my state uses them. They replaced the old machines where you flipped a lever next to your choice and then pulled the handle to register your vote.

We mark the ballot and insert it into the machine to be scanned. Unless the machine is shredding the ballot afterwards, that means the physical ballots can be checked afterward; in other words - paper trail.

So far, I haven't heard any strange grinding noises when I submit my ballot. Biggrin

But they are counted after the polls close so that the election judges can check if the voter voted in person which invalidates the absentee ballot. Despit rumors to the contray you can't legally vote twice but the Dems are working on it.

It is so clear and so sickening. From Naked Capitalism today:

"the entire Clinton campaign looks to me like it’s laying the groundwork for war; not only Clinton’s known hawkishness and propensity for fomenting war (Iraq, Libya, Honduras), but demonizing Putin, and framing opponents as traitors as a prelude to suppressing any domestic opposition.

“Washington’s foreign policy elite breaks with Obama over Syrian bloodshed” [WaPo]. “The Republicans and Democrats who make up the foreign policy elite are laying the groundwork for a more assertive American foreign policy, via a flurry of reports shaped by officials who are likely to play senior roles in a potential Clinton White House.” The headline is a little ambiguous, but I take it to mean that the elite wants more bloodshed."

http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2016/10/200pm-water-cooler-10212016.html

Not only demonizing Putin, but framing opponents as traitors. And what is our media focusing on? Trump might contest the election - outrageous! An election that has too often been clearly corrupt so far... Bernie should be supporting him on that, not campaigning for Hillary.

Prepare to be suppressed, and stock up.

Indies are the largest voting group in America; if people voted Jill for survival, she'd have the votes and cheating would be as obvious as it was during the Dem nominations - but the American people could protest en masse, refuse to accept the cheat and have that cheat not recognized as 'leader' internationally. I've read a reference to a mechanism where this can be done, and therefore forestall the deadly situation created by the other 3 candidates who will support the TPP; Jill is the only Presidential candidate now running who does not feel that democracy and domestic law should be willingly surrendered to ruthless hostiles so that they can enrich themselves with 'it all', while mindlessly destroying the results of billions of years of evolution - life forming the life support system of Earth.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

It became obvious (though it was long suspected) that Kos is working for Hillary. DailyKos was used to try and start a smear (pedophilia) against Assange, but some good people here and elsewhere followed the money and found the origin was Larry Summers super pac. A simple google on "Assange superpac" took me to Jackpine Radicals site, which lays it all out well.

"Later, some other time."
"But everytime we want to change things you say it isn't the time. Will the time ever come?"

If Hillary wins the election, the DNC will fall ever farther to the right. The Democratic party will become the pro-war party as soon as she starts a conflict. The business interests will continue to burrow themselves deeply into every action in DC. In four years we will be told now is not the time to upset the cart. In eight years we will be told that the apple cart is fine right now and we mustn't topple it. If not now when?

Oy. If Hillary is unacceptable, in what world is Tim Kaine any better? And that assumes that Kaine would somehow end up as president because something happens to Hillary or that he will have some magical influence on her to perhaps reign her in.

'Course that can't happen since Tim Kaine is pretty much the same as Hillary.

The thing about Trump is he would be incompetent in a crisis, wants "law and order", wants to screw our economy by giving even bigger tax breaks to the richest, and might make disastrous Supreme Court picks. The perfect opponent for Hillary. We're going to have to fight hard for our democracy when this is over. Jill needs the support of disgusted Trump supporters too, if there are any.

up

Beware the bullshit factories.

He would be incompetent but he also wouldn't be able to get a lot of his policies and picks through. There would actually be Democratic opposition.

Hillary on the other hand, would have the support of the Dem pols in whatever hair-brained idea she came up with. We will be at war before the first 100 days are done.

She also would be able to screw over SS with the blessing of the Repubs; something Obama couldn't do simply because they were determined to make him fail.

Hey Repubs, news flash. Obama was able to fail all by himself! See drone strikes, etc.

I try to talk to anyone willing to listen and point out that if all the people dissatisfied with Trump and Hillary voted for Stein, she would do better than anyone expected!

I feel as though I'm living in an alternate universe. Why are we not taking this to the streets and protesting that this election was not an election at all? Why are so many people just going along with this farce? Geez, Jon Oliver, Shaun King, Stephen Colbert, Amy Schumer, SamanthaB, Sara Silverman, all the newscasters, etc. What am I not getting, here?
Are we afraid of the violence?
Someone, on here, I believe, made the comment that Bernie was not only threatened personally, but that the convention in PA could have been worse than Chicago 1968. I believe that could be the case.
I don't want to incite violence, but I cannot fall in line with Hillary.
Can't do it, won't do it. I don't honor corruption in any sense.
I got my ballot yesterday, voted for Jill Stein. I'm in Colorado.
Also voted for Lily Tang Williams (Libertarian) against Michael Bennet and Darryl Glenn. I haven't finished my ballot but hope to get it in the mail today.
It is just unfuckingbelievable to me that we are allowing this to happen. It is sickening.

In life, as in dance, grace glides on blistered feet. ~Alice Abrams

The feeling, that started off at the turn of the century with the selection of W, that it doesn't matter what we say or do, we can't win.

Each time this happens, it gets harder and harder to fight back. There are so many just trying to get their next paycheck, me included, that it leaves no time to do much more than vent to each other.

TPTB are not going to listen to us even though they actually are afraid of us because they have removed any real stability that we had. A population that has enough leisure time to think and has financial security is dangerous. Likewise a population that has nothing left to lose is equally dangerous.

What they have done is sought to entrench us solidly into that middle ground between the two and keep us there. This is easy when most people not only don't have stability, but also don't have the ability for even simple critical thinking. Instead, most people in America think with their emotions and whatever meme is currently important to them (or being sold to them via MSM as important).

When people did take to the streets (Occupy Wall Street) they were broken up and then the movement was co-opted. We talk of third parties but before we can have a successful third party, we have to have a critical mass of people who understand the need for one; why it is needed and what the core values of that party will be.

As long as a majority of the American people are unable to think critically and are more interested in whatever reality show is on as opposed to the reality they actually live in, we are doomed to just exist with no real enjoyment of life. That might not be so bad for all those who are unaware but if you have taken the red pill, you can't undo it and the "boot stamping on a human face - forever" becomes more and more of a reality.

Reference from "1984" George Orwell
