A Request to all Lifeboaters Still Posting at GOS
Background: davidincleveland used to be one of my favorite people at DKos. He was in our original lifeboat group. Then, one day, he disappeared not only from the group, but from DKos, from FB--pretty much everywhere I could find. Knowing he had some health problems, I was worried about him. When I couldn't find him, after many months, I concluded (sadly) that he had probably either become incapacitatingly ill, or had died.
Imagine how thrilled I was to see him posting at DKos! Understand, I've made a point of not going there at all for over a year now, so it wasn't until some links to diaries there were posted here that I decided to give Markos my eyeballs (briefly). And there was davidincleveland!
Grimacing to myself, because I hate having anything to do with Markos' site, I logged in so I could message him.
I got an error message.
I don't know why this is. But what I'd like to ask of those of you still active over there:
Please invite davidincleveland to stop by. I'd love to "see" him again.
I hope you guys don't mind me asking this favor. B/c apparently Markos' site has an allergy to me. And I'll go to Trix at the help desk when hell freezes over.

I'm truly moved by your concern. It was touch and go for a while, but I'm lucky enough to be still around for the political fight I've been waiting for since I was 13, and I turned 74 yesterday. It is great to be here, and I'm pretty sure I won't last much past the Sixteenth ['official' new name of 3/16/2016] at DK, so I expect to be here a lot.

about the history of this site, and that will very much include the story of the Lifeboat.

It's just so damn good to see friendly handles and icons. To feel free to speak my mind and read free speech from others. No flames, no cowardly little flags. I still read and sometimes comment at the GOS (hard to imagine a morning without BNR), but I'm tapering and spending more time at the reddit subthread Mahakali Overdrive threw up so fast, bless her. Will try to equalize time there and here.

When I tried to invite people via DK message
I also got an error message. YOu can message them, but I think providing links is a trigger for an error message. I left 2 weeks ago and wandered over to invite 2 people. I messaged them, but when I had a link in the message I got an error message. W/o a link, it went fine. So there's that.

That happens to me all the time...
with KosMail. After I type out the message I always highlight and copy the text to my browser because it will generally throw an error at least once, copying to the browser makes it easy to paste it right back in when that happens. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries before it finally sends, but if you're persistent it will eventually do it. DK5 is borked.
DK5 messages work in my laptop but
not on my tablet. Some days they don't work at all.
I try to Copy before I hit send with both message & comments.

I was getting the error message too. A workaround which seems to often work, is to post it as a preview, THEN send it.
But it isn't the link which is prompting the error message - I get it even with no links. Try to post as preview, then send.

Have a feeling you are a mere whippersnaper to me, Caerus. I'm 69. Must say, the gang over at /r/KossacksforSanders is super helpful to us reddit newcomers, and offer tons of tips. Within a few days, you will be quite comfortable in the reddit universe. I find the reddit sub excellent for shorter, activity-related posts and links; and C99% wonderful for more reflective analysis. (And amazingly great music! The photo of Victoria Spivey in the Evening Blues masthead says it all.) Seems they are nice companions. Good you are linking to both on GOS.
I've been ambivalent about commenting there (have never posted a diary), because I'd prefer to not support Kos in any way, even clicks counting toward his ad rates. But have followed links appearing here and at /r/KfS, which sometimes call for support over there, and for things like LeiparDestin's excellent live coverage of the debates and townhalls. As you know, he is also cross-posting, and has a BNR website as well, so we can continue to follow him. OPOL, too, appears to be posting at both new sites.
I sound like a broken record but must repeat that we can't thank the folks enough who created this website. The look/feel/tone here and at /r/KossacksforSanders is welcoming, intelligent, funny, artistic, and straightforward. By design, and by the nature of the folks who started the two venues.

Laugh when my friends say I "shouldn't" say my age, the hell with that, I'm grateful to be on the right side of the grass! 9 year breast cancer "thriver" - don't like the "s" word, here.
Tho what's going on at GOS ( led by KOS) makes me almost as sick as chemotherapy did, but at least that served a purpose.
BTW - hope everyone rec'd the heck out of LL's diary on GOS! Great one.

I logged back in to mention that kosmail just errors a lot. Just keep trying. It usually works for me on the 2nd try. A link in the message has nothing to do with it. It's just glitchy. I see others have already commented on this, but since I logged back in, I'm saying it too.
Do you know that Trix is working the help desk? Did you see a comment to that effect? There is a user called "DK Staff" so you don't know who it is. It could be more than one staff person using that login. I have wondered who it is. (Trix is not staff however.)
I thought Trix used to work the help desk.

I sure don't think he is, but like said above, there are anonymous helpers posting under the DK Staff name. I hate that, too. I like to know who I am talking to, even if it is not a real name.
