The Rediculous Smear of Bernie Sanders for Daring to Give SOTU Rebuttal
Bernie is racist and sexist, doncha know? Why? Because he's daring to speak on the very same day as a black woman.
Yep, that's all it takes to be "racist and sexist" these days.
Tuesday night, Bernie Sanders will be responding to Donald Trump’s State of the Union on his digital platforms—Facebook, Twitter, YouTube. A couple things to note:1. This will be his third straight year giving a response.
2. His speech, as usual, will come after the Democratic response, which will be delivered this year by Georgia’s Stacey Abrams, a black woman.
3. It’s not on TV, so you have to opt in and actually seek it out.
The bad faith actors are legion (see this), but here's a small taste.

"We already have to listen to one old white male traitor advance the Kremlin's interests, we don't need two," she wrote.Mensch, of course, does not speak for sane Democrats. But a more respected voice, MSNBC's Chris Hayes, predicted Sanders' commitment to doing the rebuttal—again, something he does every year—"will grate/alienate." It appears he was right: Many on social media dragged Sanders for daring to speak out of turn.
"Why is he talking over the black woman our party chose to speak for us?" asked the feminist author Amy Siskind. (Again, Sanders is not talking over anyone.) "This is disrespecting black women, the most important and reliable part of our base. He can speak another night. This is Stacey Abrams' night. She was the one the party chose. Nope. This is not his night!"
If this is "racist and sexist", then what does running against Kamala Harris do?

that the veal pen could not get any smaller, the Democratic party shrinks it even more. Every time I read the attacks upon liberals who refuse to toe the very narrow line that the neoliberals in the Democratic party have set for us, I become even more disgusted with the Democratic party.
The Democratic party has no real ideas or policies and has relied for years upon identity politics to carry it through elections. Now they are doubling down and using age, race and gender shaming to coerce us into supporting their very narrow and warped view of what we should adhere to. However, I'm willing to set my politics aside occasionally and enjoy the show. I don't think that the dancing and singing Cockneys Pamela Travers, or perhaps Disney, came up with, are what has stopped a Marxist revolution, so I feel fine about "stepping in time"

This non-controversy kinda pissed me off today. Had to call Benjamin Dixon (who certainly should have known better) out on it on Twitter after it looked like he fell into the bullshit. So did a lot of his followers. The ratio was not kind. But he's always had a fetish for punching to the left for no reason on his old podcast, so I shouldn't have been surprised.
2016 never ended for a lot of people. It made people really stupid. And so, here we are, fighting a fight that should have been resolved ages ago. The anti-Sanders presence IRL is pretty small, but they're fantastically and annoyingly loud.

Following a TPW link to a @subir post "Why-we-still-need-Bernie-to-run-in-2020" since I appreciate his opinion.
I didn't do any page interactions, but read the post and scanned through the comments. I saw a great many with the BS that Senator Sanders was deliberately stepping-on Stacy Abram's rebuttal by scheduling his at the same time. There were sporadic defenses along the lines "he has been doing this every year" and "last year X, Y, and Z" also made rebuttals after the SOTU.
What I didn't see was anyone correcting the misapprehension that the two rebuttals were simultaneous. I guess that correction does not exist in their world since it is so effective stirring-up so much outrage against Sen. Sanders.
