Sit-a-while
on swinging porch

from hand dug wells.
Good morning good people!
Trying to grind a way out of a damn depression brought on from the outside this week and a sadness of seeing truer colors change from previously trusted sources; always a big downer, but it is fall and leaves dropping open unexpected views.
Then add the news, whew!
It's Saturday and, thankfully, spirit resides in friends.
Much of life, professionally, asked questions written by playwrights, delivered by companies of artists focused in the moment, satisfied often with meager returns; giving, they were in ensemble; using breathes and dancing muscles, refined emotional responses when a whisper was heard on back rows, dedicated.
Seems long ago and this moment is missing, missing in day-today, critically challenging sinews of being, whole, painfully human, decent and kind, expectations longed by generations of great and simple minds forsaken, exchanged for....for....for....
Bullshit.
Enough
out damn spot
spoiling and foiling on media air
daring as if no one cares
in this dew mistaken for you
king
crews row boats with no rudders
lost in Russian furs
wrapped around white pearly necks
choking wolves in cold
story is gold
birds
in time, sing the tune
i-phones and androids
and the lady in cars
spout lyrics, deciphering stars
as children smile, once again
that's what children do.

Another beautiful day in the pacific northwest. Nothing like a little liquid sunshine to get you going. As they say, that's why it's so green here. I used to live up near the Olympic rain forest in northwest Washington state, now I'm down in the southwest part of the state. I was born in the Northeast part, Spokane, and many relatives lived in the southeast part. Got it covered I guess.
Thinking about fleshing out that referendum idea this weekend. Might be worth my time.

I do recall that on a clear day in Seattle, one can see forever, a landscape worth retaining in memory. Wishing i was there and your sharing thoughts almost make it so.

Good Early Morning from the jungle part of Hawaii
... still wake up at four to five o'clock in the morning, heavy rain outside in the dark, just waiting for the daylight peaking through the thickness of green shrubery and huge trees canopees covering them. My inner clock still can't adapt.
Your Morning Art picture takes my breath away, amazing image, and your music selection is always emotionally thought provoking .
The Meena cycle I couldn't listen to through the end. It's outstanding and goes so much under my skin together with the visual, I had to leave it, I don't want to get depressed. It scared me and I had the urge to run away from it. Is that normal?
Oh well, me simpleton. I feel lost, trapped and helpless here in HI and here among you. It's a strange thing to be attracted to the beauty of both, the jungle and the conversations here.

Heading to my daughter's place soon. I had agreed to take chicken pot pie to work for a potluck, bought all the ingredients, and then I got fired. There's no way I could eat two pot pies all by myself, plus it irks me I bought it all for work; however, my kids have loved my pot pie since they were little. So, I'm spending the night with my eldest, and making her favorite. We'll cook, talk, laugh, eat, maybe watch a movie, just be together.
I'm excited! I so love my baby girl.

Wish I could share pot pie with you. I haven't had a homemade one in a long time and I am highly unlikely to try my hand at making any.

While I've made them from scratch (except I used cream of chicken soup), I haven't done that in probably 20 years.
I just boil some chicken, let it cool, shred it with my fingers, and mix it with a can of cream of celery soup (learned in a pinch it was better than cream of chicken), some thyme, and a large can (or 2 small cans) drained veg-all. Then I pour it into a deep dish frozen pie crust that I pre cooked while doing the other stuff, and top it with another thawed, crust, poking vent holes in the form of a big smiley face. Bake at about 350 til the top is golden brown.
Lots easier than doing it from scratch, and good enough for the kids to demand seconds. Works great with holiday turkey leftovers too.

Giving away my ignorance: I've never tried a frozen pie crust. I'll check them out. This is the first I am learning of the existence of Veg-All! I've never seen it while food shopping. I'll check that out as well. If I don't find it, I'll use another brand of mixed vegetables.
I appreciate this info. The first recipe for chicken pot pie that I ever saw said I had to make Chicken A La King first, plus make a certain kind of pie crust and then do some other things. I thought, "Too many time-consuming steps," and never looked into it any further. My bad.

Hugh Morton was a great photographer and i had the pleasure of knowing him and working on a few projects with him. One of my few prized possessions is a signed print of the buck photo, hangs across the wall from the bed.
Hugh once called George Bush and told him that he was wrong about pollution and he told him to come down to Grandfather Mountain so he could show the president the dying trees.
