Open Thread WE 12 OCT 22 ~ shaping sand
Top of the day 99'ers. Hope this finds you well or ambitious or something moderately good.
Over the weekend we had a sand sculpture display on the beach near CT. It was fun, with
music, food, artisans and sculptures. Many people must be starved for culture, as this was a premiere event and well attended. Managed well, open and airy, with beautiful weather.
The theme of the event was called Atlantis Rising.
We were each given a bean to vote for the peoples favorite. This was mine ..

This was called Loss which was probably not the best theme for an anniversary
celebration, but I did like the way the eyes were focused on the ring.
This was also interesting with the hands on the woman with a rough finish.
Being an ancient mariner, this caught my eye. Called Winds of Change

The desire here is for you to post whatever you find interesting.
Does not need to be castles in the sand. We know where that goes ..

Those are great...
The gulf sands won't pack and sculpt like that in CT. I've seen some nice sand sculptures. Here's one from the Mexican Riviera.
We're getting some color down here. Bet y'all are at peak.
Thanks for the cool sand features and OT!

Some of the maples are turning red and gold
The peak leaf peeping is further north. We did see some color on our bike trip in the forests
west of here.
This one is called So Close
Cheers!
Good morning QMS, looks like a fun time was had.
For reasons unknown, your open thread tag isn't doing it's job, perhaps there is a character before it, or maybe the period after it.
Sand sculpture takes a lot of patience for something ephemereal, and there is a message there, I think. The very name and words, sand sculpture conjures up a universe of assorted thoughts and, at some point, conjures up Ozymandius, appropriate to this day and age.

Thanks EL. T'was but a misplaced period
Cranky darn thing. Hope you enjoy the plethora of chorish activities.
Baking cookies just now ...
Thanks for the interesting sculptures.
It would be nice to see if there is a video of how they were created as they are beyond what I was able to accomplish at the beach when I was a youngin.
Yeah, they had demonstrations later in the day
to show the tricks of sculpting sand, but we didn't hang around for that. Found an oceanside
restaurant down the way and relished the local brews, fresh seafood and compared notes
on the deeper meanings of life, sand sculpture and the multiverse.

Slowly the crackdown begins to stifle dissent in Europe.
Got to keep the peasants in line.
Wouldn't surprise me if the general populations
of the various EU nations begin to fight back in earnest.
Kinda puts the respective governments in a bind. The
repercussions will not be easily disappeared. Forcing

BTW who actually created the shutdown?
This made me chuckle even though I don't if it is accurate.
What a wonderful day you two had!
Thanks so much for the beautiful pictures. I would have had a tough time picking out the best.
Well, I spent the day interviewing clients, both new and existing ones.
Work, although very often stressful, nevertheless keeps me from raging about the state of the economy, the little issue of nuclear annihilation, and so on and so forth.
It is good to see the union not back down to Brandon.
It is good to see France is getting sick of Macron.
I hope anti-war protests start to sprout here. Protesting may be a bit more effective than voting, ya think?
