Come Fairies, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame!
- William Butler Yeats -

What a glorious week! The humidity cleared out and the daily highs are only reaching the low eighties. Thank you Mother Nature.

Wednesday morning, I saddled up and headed for the mountains of western NC. The plan is to ride The Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway and Moonshiner 28.

I am looking forward to ignoring the news cycle. The confounding amalgamation of pop culture, politics and Orwellian sheeple herding is maddening.

While I am out riding mountain roads, y'all can fill in my content free place holder.

Have a great weekend! The thread is OPEN.

Hope you are enjoying the earth with little distraction. There's nothing like being with nature, 24/7. Unfortunately for us, the forests are closed due to drought conditions. Water is life. We are struggling on that front at this time.

Have a beautiful day and weekend, everyone! Pleasantry

@Raggedy Ann We had a week with rain every day. I wish we could transfer some. Everything is vivid green. I rode The Blue Ridge Parkway, from Cherokee to Asheville, this morning. It was glorious and the temps were in the 60s until I descended into Asheville.

Have a great ride Tim! As you said beautiful weather for it this week.

I've regraded my roads and been mowing ...dealing with the aftermath of all the rain. No news here either. Just enjoying the elements.

Wishing you all the best....

@Lookout I passed through Vanore, Madisonville and Tellico Plains making my way to The Cherohala Skyway. I thought Cherohala was much nicer than Deal’s Gap/Tail of the Dragon.

LOL I guess George was streaming this yesterday as I was busy reformatting Louis Gohmert's Congressional testimony, so I could read the part where he rants about Imran Awan making a plea deal with DOJ and getting his job back?. The FBI is all like, "there is no evidence other than bank fraud". wtf

c-span sucks but at least they posted a SHOUTING copy of the robot-created captions. I'll pasta the eight paragraphs here if anyone wants to see it in sentence case rather than the solid block of CAPS over there.

potential asset? Hell, we've forgiven far worse. Besides, it wasn't that much money anyway. The credit union can be reimbursed out of one of the petty cash slush funds or by one of the many patriotic donors, or, whatthehell, fuck 'em.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris Gohmert talked for over an hour or something? I don't know but it took me a long time to parse just this Awan ending, he talks so weird. lol I shouldn't talk myself. Maybe George Webb and Luke Rosiak are scammers extraordinaire, Putin props planted to seed doubt in the minds of the electorate, follow the mass mindf*ck why not? Q Q Q! lol if nothing, it is entertaining. I'm just trying to feel good myself. I'd feel better if none of it ever happened. Never ever ever.

Louie Gohmert Jr.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
[... blah blah blah...]

We had an I.T. Worker named Imran Awan, who worked for between 40 and 50 of my democratic colleagues. Now, he sent apparently over $100,000 back to Pakistan where he still has family and he got that from a loan here in the U.S. and he's charged with making a false statement to get the loan. And yet that is a fraction of what we find from -- I mean, just the reporting of Luke Rosiak of "The Daily Caller," this article from October 3, 2017. Unfortunately, the only thing they've indicted Mr. Awan for is for making, basically making a false statement to get a loan, things related to that.

But there are dozens and dozens of felonies in which he's implicated from his work here on Capitol Hill. This article says now indicted I.T. aide to various house Democrats was sending money and gifts to government officials in Pakistan, received protection from the Pakistani police, multiple relatives claim. Democratic aide Imran Awan also said he could have someone tortured in Pakistan. Awan's lawyer said he was spending money to the police department but that there was a good explanation.

They were also sending equipment such as iPhones in the same period during which fraudulent purchase orders -- by the way, from what we've seen, there were clearly dozens of fraudulent purchase orders -- say, for example, if an iPad cost $799, and Awan puts down it's $499, as a cost, maybe $300 for an insurance policy. But $499, that means it's under the $500 limit for things that do not have to be kept in inventory. So as long as Awan kept prices on these invoices below $500, he didn't have to have a listing of all the equipment. So he could keep buying iPads, iPhones, all these kinds of things for different members of congress' office and there's no record kept of where those items are, they don't record the serial numbers, anything, as long as they're $499. Every time he put $499 on one invoice for something that cost $799, it's a federal felony. And he's implicated in dozens of these. And the evidence abounds.

Yet some of us had an informal hearing and heard testimony about this matter and he was bragging to people about all the iPhones and iPads he was sending to Pakistan, to the police there, to intelligence friends there. These kinds of things. And because he listed them at $499, they're not an inventory, so they don't have to be written off when they disappear, that's pretty handy.

But, the F.B.I. has had opportunities to have those invoices presented to them. And each time they have instructed, don't bring any of those documents, we don't want to see any of that, we just want to talk to you. And as I understand, even this week they continued to report, the F.B.I. investigating, that, yeah, we still found no evidence of anything other than this false statement on a loan. Why? Because they have instructed, we don't want to see the documents that prove those cases. They're readily available for anybody, any federal officer who wants to see them. But they don't want to see them.

So they can keep reporting to the new U.S. Attorney that there's no evidence. No evidence, no, there's just nothing there. They can tell the attorney general, yeah, we've looked into it. There's nothing there. And yet we hear from the reporter, he continues to talk to the witnesses, and it was 80% of the witnesses that have personal information about the crimes the cartel, crime family, whatever you want to call it, have committed, 70%, between 70% and 80% of those witnesses have never been interviewed by the F.B.I. That way they can still report to the new U.S. Attorney, to the attorney general we looked into it. There's nothing there. There's no evidence. Yeah. Because you don't want to look at it. It abounds.

And then when we hear that Mr. Awan is spreading the word among his friends from Pakistan, that I just got to get this deal done, and work out a plea where I don't get jail time, and I'm already assured, I will be able to work back on the Hill. I was staggered to find out, when we took testimony, that actually about three to nine months of every year for the last 13, 14 years, that Mr. Awan has been doing work as a computer technician for folks here on the Hill, he's never had a background check. But three to nine months out of each year he was in Pakistan. And he was using the Pakistani internet to work on three, four dozen members of congress' computer systems.

We also learned that at one point they put over 40 members of congress' data on one server so that anybody that Awan wanted to could access the server and get information on all these other people. And what happened? Well, that server, with that serial number, has disappeared. But the F.B.I. has no interest whatsoever, at least so far, in investigating what happened to the server on which Awan put 40-plus members of congress' data.

One, we do know that -- we know some of the files that existed. We don't know what were in the files. But Awan had actually organized files that had members of congress' email in them. Well, gee, why would Awan want to take members of congress' emails and put them in one file? That sure would make it easy, if you were going to transfer somebody's emails to somebody else, you just put them all in a file. Put them on one server that lots of people have access to. It is phenomenal the kind of breach that has occurred on the Hill.

And there are two kinds of justices. And it breaks my heart. There's the Hillary Clinton kind of investigation and there's the Donald trump investigation. This is really tragic. So, taxpayers are paying for Awan's lawyer, because he says he's destitute, yet he sent $100,000 or more over to Pakistan in one transaction. And we know that he has property listed in his bankruptcy. We know that he got -- was in business, took a loan from a guy from Pakistan who has known ties to Hezbollah. And they owed him money. And we can't seem to get the F.B.I. interested in that.

There are too many holdovers apparently from Mueller's day and Comey's day. We need to know what was compromised. And i don't care who the person works for, congressional computers should not be serviced from Pakistan. From information and belief, folks who should know, they tell me Pakistan would be one of the last places you would want somebody getting into congressional computer systems. He said, well, what difference does it make? Just emails, calendars. Well. There are people that pay a lot of money to have all the emails from a member of congress. We just need the F.B.I. more interested.

And again, I understand. Last guy saw making charges, talking about F.B.I.'s lack of duty, he ended up being defeated by the F.B.I., raid on his office, his daughter's office, two weeks before the election. I understand. But somebody has got to stand up and say, right is right, wrong is wrong, and there are so many F.B.I. Agents that have given their lives day after day , not making the kind of money they could elsewhere, but enforcing the law. And to have people like Mueller and Comey come along and put a blot on the reputation they poured their lives into is a travesty and the only way to remove the blots is to call out those and make them responsible for the damage they've done. And it's not happening.

Anyway. Realize I'm running out of time. Luke Rosiak has great information here. He's done so much more investigation than the F.B.I. have. I know there are a lot of F.B.I. agents that i know personally that could take this case, I mean, just not listing a piece of property in your forms here that you have to file, the financial disclosure cab crime. If you do it intentionally -- can be a crime. If you do it intentionally. Sometimes you forget, but he didn't forget when he filed bankruptcy. He's got property. He's got all kinds of things that he's never listed. And those are the kind of things that are important when people are servicing congressional computers, people need to know.

And we need people that will be honest enough not to lie to the U.S. Attorney and not to lie to the attorney general, deputy attorney general. For other people who are honest and trying to follow and enforce the law, and the constitution as their oath requires. Need a second special counsel. Need investigator Rosenstein, Mueller, Comey, it Weissmann -- Comey, Weissmann, and we need somebody assigned to the Awan case that will protect congress from further breaches and from the Awan crime family for the future.

Sounds like they're trying to do just what Awan has been bragging that he's going to get a deal, it's not going to say anything about all the breaches of security, all of the felonies committed in the forms that he filed. None of that. And so he's telling people, at least he's assured he can come right back and start servicing dozens of members' computers on the Hill again. For heaven's sake. We need somebody in the F.B.I. to step up and do their job. I yield back.

@orlbucfan Great ride and great weather. This weekend is “small bore” at The Dragon . It was buzzing with little motorcycles. They would come by in little packs, like a swarm of bees. I got through The Dragon before the crashes started. I was having a burger, on th TN side, when the ambulances rolled. I saw police zooming with lights flashing a few times. I also saw too many squids, to count. Including a guy riding in crocs, shorts and a tank top.

glorious ride Tim, free from the noise that is our culture and the corrupt malignancy that is our political system, yes, do. However, please don't begrudge us that same freedom from that ugly shit ourselves should we desire such freedom. I'm sure that there's plenty of content somewhere should we choose to look. Maybe after coffee, or coffee and breakfast, or make that coffee, breakfast and chores.

@enhydra lutris I made a point of getting to Asheville in time to go to 12 Bones, for lunch. They are only open M-F, 11-4. The blueberry chipotle ribs were yummy. When I got to the hotel, I found out this weekend is Veganfest. I think I will catch a little nap before The New Mastersounds show tonight. Back to the Piedmont heat tomorrow

I did something incredibly stupid and drank Energy Drinks.

Led directly to a gout flare up. Never fun. So last night, I ended up doing half of Judo class balanced on one foot. Apparently nobody knew until I apologized for being slow.

And then I remembered that I got really good at pretending not to be in pain for 5 years...

So, yeah, hurts, but less than last night. Up and about, feeling very good about writing, and hydrating like crazy. Yeah, I could go in to the VA and try to get this recognized for Combat related again, but last thing I need right now is to try to get my disability increased with Generalissimo Bonespurs at the wheel.

@detroitmechworks ... and vitamin B. The cherry juice is an anti-inflammatory and the vitamin B helps purge uric acid. Watch you red meat and beer consumption. I have not noticed energy drinks being a trigger. The drinks typically are loaded with B vitamins. On the other hand, prime rib and one too many beers, ouch.

@NCTim But the red meat is a problem. (Made some incredible lamb last week...)

Sticking with greens for now, and I'll see what I can find for B vitamins.
