Here we are, the last Friday funk of the year. What a funkin' year, eh?
Change? We could start with fixing what we funked up, and maybe preserving humanity for a bit longer.
If we don't end disposal consumerism and carbon fuel consumption (click this link; feel free to comment), we are funkin' doomed.
Hey flat earthers climate change deniers corporate shills, notice any funkin' thing?
I hope things don't get too funkin' horrible.
Everybody, have a funkin' great weekend and New Year!
The thread is funkin' OPEN.

Good last-Friday-of-the-year morning, Tim ~~~
2018 is finally almost over. It was a tough year for me. I hope I hold up better in 2019.
We are getting a great snow storm, right now. It's beautiful outside because I get to stay in.
Wishing you a peaceful 2019, Tim.
Have a beautiful day and weekend, folks!

Hola
If only the world would cooperate.
Raining, again. We only need 0.43" to set the annual record (since records). Due to get an inch today.

We’re expecting snow til 6am tomorrow!
We’ll see if it materializes.
Luckily, I have a defined benefit retirement. Unfortunately, since it’s controlled by the state, it could disappear at any whim. Same with SS. They’re all I got, so I’m in a race to pay off the house so I have a roof over my head. Then again, that could be taken away too. Nothing is certain in this wobbly world.
2019 - what will it bring??? Not holding my breath.
Play it again, Sam.

What a funking idea to ask for funky change
in a new funk year. I am so funked out. Sure didn't get the funk right about any funk thing.
Ok, all stay warm, survive, hold through, keep up the spirit and be kind to each other.
Thank You, NCTim.
Actually the song isn't bad. YMMV.

Hola, Tim! Friday Funk! How about that "Fixing what we funked
up" - riiiight. Time to unfuck things, but something I've never seen our politicians even try to do. Each time the Dems sweep into office on promises of righteousness they never once stop to take a few months to undo all the horrible shit that was done while they were out. The cynic in me thinks he understands why. Of course, we can all holler at them to do so, I've been hollering less and less vociferously, loudly and prolongedly for decades. Either crickets or "sorry, we've go to go do this other thing".
Zo, writing off the bullshitting class and their bailiwick, 'twould appear that is up to us hoi and polloi to go to work on that. Don't burn carbon, bury it, revitalize and re-vegetate. I'm getting real close to seed bombing sterile areas.

cover crop mix, White Dutch Clover, medium red clover and annual rye grass. I plan to follow up with a shade Fescue out back, a turf rye out front and Strawberry Clover Palestine for the wet spots, nearer to Spring.
I finally raked up the pine needles. It had been a couple of years, before Sue got sick. This week, I spread aI found a place: https://www.outsidepride.com/

Clovers and rye grass, way cool. Fescue I know as turf, but
it's maybe worth a second look for our tiny patch of grass. Cool looking site for seeds and such. I've just been thinking of finding a locally native clover for a couple of areas that I could maybe get it to take off in as bee food. Good luck with your plantings.

Could this be why people are upset?
Could be

Hi, NCTim. I imagine you've already wisely cut out for today,
but I thought I'd check in anyway. Not much to say about Mother Earth. I kind of wince and shudder just thinking about the old Gal these days.
Time to get rid of the old things that are not serving us well and make room for things that may serve us better. At least, that is the hope of New Year.
During the last couple of weeks, without planning to, I shed some relationships that had not been working for me. I just finally got taken advantage of too much to keep on keeping on. I cannot say that I miss the relationships, but nor can I say that I am relieved to have shed them. I just feel that it's too bad and it's too sad that that I could not make them better. I sure don't want them back, though!
BTW, these were people who theoretically worked for me, whom I had started out liking very much, not love relationships. Nonetheless, the love songs posted below are the song that came to mind. Maybe that's because there is an element of love of a kind in every relationship for which we have hope? (As an aside, if ever I pride myself on my knowledge of doo wop or any form of music really, joe shikspak humbles me anew, simply by posting song after song and artist after I've never heard of.)
I hope 2019 is a better year for you, Tim, for all of us, and for all the world.
Guess I'll stop talking to myself now.

I'm glad you didn't say, "Simplify, simplify, simplify."
Discarding bad to make room for good at least sounds simple. But, when relationships with people are involved, nothing seems simple. It doesn't even have to be people. We get attached to things and some of those attachments are not positive forces in our lives.
You, however, are very wise and insightful. I think you can and will simplify productively. And you have a whole three days to think about it!
How does one cook the earth for break-fast?
Heat oil. Extract eggs. Break shells. Mix up with media. Spice with GMO. Burn pot. Smoke out room. Toast politicians. Bomb the little brown bits. Deglaze with truth serum. Ignore the recipe for disaster. Feed the rich, starve the poor. Serve on a false platter. Garnish with poison.

Tap's no snap, but I think beautiful ballroom dancing is more difficult. Best ballroom dancer I ever saw up close and personal? My father in law. Hi Tim, nice to see you.
From my small taste of commentary and music here I look forward to reading more and listening when I get the next chance. Stay cool and well.

Apropos of nothing, there's a Parakeet on my shoulder
I could be wrong but we seem to have adopted a bird from a friend. I never intended to own a bird and this is my first time and oh man... is this ever different than owning a dog or cat (or any other animal mind I've ever dealt with). It's rather astonishing to have almost no problem communicating with your pet. Instead, the only question is whether the pet wants to play along or not.
Specifically, we seem to have accumulated a green cheeked conure over the holidays. It's utterly astonishing to see her learn things on the first try with no particular training method or anything. For the most part I just make it plain what I want to have happen and she either goes along or she doesn't. Like, for instance, taking a shower together. You'd think that would be a fairly complicated procedure between me and the bird and chemicals like shampoo and bare skin and bird claws. Nope... all handled totally gracefully and she really liked bathing with me.
It's easy to see why people love them though. It's also easy to see why they get rid of them. I'm dealing with possessiveness right now. The bird does NOT like Carol (my wife) and bites are easy to come by. It is clear that it's ME that she has bonded to and she sees Carol as competition. That needs working on. Still though... it's been less than 24 hours and changes in her behavior are already dramatic.
So there's a little story from "that frozen narco-tundra to the North" (in the immortal words of Stephen Colbert).

I'm actually learning that she's quite communicative
No words for this one. But she's pretty adept at getting her meaning across. My suspicion is that as we both learn each other better the communication will be mostly rock solid.
She has been (up until a few hours ago -- MAN she learns fast) pretty bitey with Carol. I should've thought to blame it on Putin. *face palm*
