These songs are more soul that funk but they were definitely some of Tim's favorite performers. Back in the day, at DKos, I did the Evening Blues Weekend Edition. Tim and I alternated on the featured music. I got to know his favorites very well.

There was a really great live version of that song but I haven't been able to find it in a long time. But there is this one that's half way decent.
By the way, Sarah is from Texas.
Good on ya, JtC.
Who is singing with Her? Viola/fiddle player?
Edit: to fix spellings and to say he was and is shooting at us.
I have to spend a good chunk of the day driving...will grab some music and go (thanks for some good music ideas). I'm afraid my mood is running along the way of the Raconteurs to the White Stripes. Is that bad? Yes it is but it will get me through bad traffic
Speaking of Jack White and the White Stripes, here's an excellent interview with Jack. I especially like the part towards the end when he discusses the difference between digital and analog music. He explains it simply and succinctly.
Here's an approved NCTim tune for your Funk Friday:

Full disclosure: I smoked about a half of a cigarette that I stole from my dad back when I was 10. That cured me of ever wanting to smoke again (well, cigarettes anyway).
already with mentions of NC Tim and Tejas and Funk Freitag and the legendary Weekend Evening Blues, just might go into overload or overdrive:
One of Tim's groups, as i recall:
Some Blues fer y'all
And it ain't funk without:
be well and have a good one

Pretty funny not so much about Biden but on the media attempting to change obvious reality. Well Biden also. Pundits believe the pandemic sunk Trump's proverbial boat. The pandemic will do the same to dems and Biden.,
Hey JtC! Great sounds man! Love that Ry Cooder, what a player he was...
Re: What is Obama shooting at?
In the first pic, that was when he shot down any raise for social security for four years in a row whilst inflation was out of control.
In the second two pics in the first was when he shot down prosecution of war and Wall St. criminals, the second when he shot down the public option and medicare negotiating any discount whatsoever from high retail on drug costs.
Hope all are well!

A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit. Allegedly Greek, but more possibly fairly modern quote.

Here in the USA arming and funding Israeli genocide and mass murder is perfectly OK, but objecting to it will get you expelled, arrested or deported.
