Now We Enter The Manipulation Phase
Many Hillary supporters may be outraged at the reach around being carried out on Bernie supporters by the Democratic Party.
I expect this humid and somewhat glutinous embrace to continue well into November; so Hillary Supporters better get used to it, but don't worry, if things go as planned it will end sometime in January 2017 when positions in the administration are doled out.
They want our votes and are money even more so, how quickly they can end the embrace will depend upon the VP candidate selected. The Democratic Convention should be fascinating to judge just how far they are willing to go to enlarge the tent before they all retire to the spa once more and leave us to clear up the trash.
This time is different! I'll believe that when I see it, I've been fed this drivel for too long.
I believe their candidate expressed disapproval of current campaign financing whilst at the same maintaining both hands wide open to those with the vast amounts of cash. I did have to laugh out loud, a pretty bitter and disbelieving laugh though it was.
Campaign Finance reform, oh puh-leez, it's the one thing that maintains the status quo so effectively, you'll hear plenty of that until an at an opportune time the conversation will cease. The next election cycle will start with we are taking the cash because the other side is doing it, but we don't like it and we put a stop it when we can! Rinse and repeat.
I believe both major parties are incapable of change, the Republican Party is a fine example of this head in the sand they still believe they can live with the result of their primary, they still think they can suck the blood out of the rabid right and thrive at least until they can cash the checks. The Democratic Party will try another tactic by being nice and listening up to the point where they believe it is safe to become deaf once more. We listened, but it's just not feasible, be reasonable, oh do grow up.
Sadly Hillary expressed their real views of voter immaturity during the campaign up to the point where they actually got worried, now it's all nicey nicey.
I'll take all this nice with a truck full of salt if you don't mind thank you.

The only thing that will pass campaign finance reform
Will be a number of prominent politicians losing races they should have won because of campaign finance scandals. When people get fed up enough that they vote out the crooks, then we might finally see some reforms pass. And then we'll have to keep voting out the crooks until they pass some real reforms.
I can think of one very prominent candidate who deserves to wind up with her head on a pike because of campaign finance practices and assorted other corruptions.

but, but it's all legal!
Corruption is now legalized aint it grand.
Slavery was legal.
And EVERYTHING the Nazis did in Germany was legal.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
Actually
a lot of stuff the Nazis didd was against German law, just there was no one who could do anything about it.
On to Biden since 1973
Our invasions and coups are against
The Nuremberg principles too, but unfortunately, any country that could do anything about is helping us, especially after they formed NATO.
The US has been torturing and murdering innocent civilians since before the Vietnam war. But what happened during that war should have gotten everyone involved in those heinous acts sent to The Hague for war crimes.
Slaughtering whole villages, the use of agent orange that not only killed the Vietnam population, but our troops too. I'm on the fence about having sympathy for the troops that engaged in war crimes.
And all the illegal invasions after that were also war crimes. And how many of the troops committed war crimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the uncountable countries where the JSOC troops are in in Africa?
This is a scary article about what not only our government is doing, but also the many countries in NATO. And it fits in well with gulfgal's excellent essays on neoliberalism.
http://www.globalresearch.ca/neoliberalism-and-the-globalization-of-war-...
Our leaders in our government are fucking insane if they think that the world can survive a war with Russia.
The US is creating mini nukes that won't cause as much damage as our bigger ones. And remember that Obama is spending over a trillion dollars to upgrade our nuclear arsenal.
Yep
But that doesn't mean we have to accept it. Weaponizing corruption as a political issue is the necessary first step to ending it. It's not enough to claim, as Hillariacs do, that everything is fine because you don't have a quid pro quo conversation on tape. Due process of law does not apply to voters' decisions of what is acceptable behavior and what is not.

It amazes me what people are ready to accept
especially when a candidate claims it has no influence upon them and they still win the popular vote. We were broke and got bailed out by the corporations, but we did have to give them a few minutes of our time before we got the checks, no you cant read what we said. It's amazing, astounding even, not bought oh no. no. noes, fucking hell, that's some sweet BS.
You got a checK?
I never did. I have much memory to be angry, ignored, dissed now. No happy camper here. I do not accept the media-shoved lunch tray before me. I remember the smell of old milk from my elementary school.

we get, well we get....um...dammit...jack shit
we got the fucking debt.

Obama showed us the quid pro quo
Obviously Hillary hasn't done big favors for her contributors yet. Like Obama, she'll wait until she's president.
In Obama's case, well, it's immaculate corruption, isn't it? The doctrine that while the banks committed crimes, no people should be prosecuted.
What will Hillary do to pay back the malefactors of great wealth? I don't know. TPP? KXL? Soft-pedaling regulations on Wall Street? Whatever it is, it's coming later.

WHAT? "Obviously Hillary hasn't done big favors for her

They're the same Wall Street thugs she's been covering for. They're the same morons who got 'special appointments' to sensitive intelligence committees. They're they same ones that got weapons deal, both as buyers and sellers.
Go look at the Clinton Family Slush Fund, find their list of donors, and compare them to the people footing her campaign bills. They're the same people.

Expat, Hillary did lots of favors
For many banks and other organizations during her time as SOS. There was a bank in Europe (I have forgotten which one since there were so many in trouble) and after she fixed their little problem of having to pay huge fees, of course that bank made a huge donation to her fucking, money laundering, illegal foundation.
And her supporters kept asking for proof of her doing something in return for money.
Is this what you're thinking of?
Hillary Helps a Bank—and Then It Funnels Millions to the Clintons
The Wall Street Journal’s eyebrow-raising story of how the presidential candidate and her husband accepted cash from UBS without any regard for the appearance of impropriety that it created.
The Swiss bank UBS is one of the biggest, most powerful financial institutions in the world. As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton intervened to help it out with the IRS. And after that, the Swiss bank paid Bill Clinton $1.5 million for speaking gigs. The Wall Street Journal reported all that and more Thursday in an article that highlights huge conflicts of interest that the Clintons have created in the recent past.

Hi Dallasdoc,
I'm late coming into this post, but I wanted to let folks here at caucus99percent know about this great symposium happening this coming Friday in Santa Fe. Here's a link to the poster.FDR seminar in Santa Fe, Nm If anyone is in SF on the 24th with free time, this should be wonderful. In 1935, over half of all New Mexicans were employed within the New Deal.
Also check out an interview with Executive Director of the Association; www.ksfr.org, click on podcasts, then click Living on the Edge and you'll see it.

There are some who enjoy being whipped.
They hang out at DKos.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Whipping
A lot of people who hang out at TOP enjoy doing the whipping too. I know longer get near the place, but if what I read elsewhere is accurate they may soon have a victim shortage.
yup
They have fewer and fewer live targets for their vitriol every day. If Hillary wins, those who are left after the paid shills depart will spend the next 4 years bemoaning their fate. If she loses they blame Bernie. Either way I am out of f--ks to give.
And KOS is out a big chunk of pocket change.

I also mentioned that this site was created years before Markos made his silly decree, but no one read my comment as I wrote it, but as they wished to read it.
The return comments were the same asinine comments that they always make.
It was in tapu duli' diary last night where the Hillarybots hid the tip jar as usual.

The VP matters when the president dies. Until then, zilch.
I think the USA would have been a better place if FDR had kept Wallace as VP instead of dumping him for Truman. Wallace was a progressive voice in the administration, Truman was a rather conservative MO senator.

Which would seem to be inevitable in Hillary's case.
Hillary: Making sure women get a bigger piece of the middle-class pie that her neoliberal, DLC, pro-Wall Street, pro-Pentagon, pro-TPP, Republican-lite economic policies are designed to shrink.
I don't think that the republicans will try to
impeach her. Why would they when she is going to be working with them to privatize social security and the other bills that she w'will work with the republicans' to get passed? Especially the TPP if Obama doesn't get it passed before he leaves office.

Hillary's promise to go after campaign financing
Got blown to hell when she, DWS and the DNC rolled back Obama's rules on lobbyists and organizations financing the shindig in Philadelphia.
I have questioned why people believe what she says she is going to do after she is elected president, but then I remember how many people believe that Obama has been the greatest president since FDR.
After all he ended two wars (except he hasn't) and he hasn't started any new ones (except for Libya, Syria, pissing off China with the navy patrols just off China's waters, and putting troops in over 20 countries that surround Russia) and has saved the economy and has added so many(low paying jobs), and passed the best health care plan in decades (except people can hardly afford to pay their premiums and have such high deductibles that they can't afford to see a doctor) and everything he's accomplished (while the middle class is collapsing and income inequality is as bad as it was in 1928).
These are the people who believe that Hillary will be as great a president as Obama because she has said that she is going to continue his legacy.
tapu duli got HR'd last night when he wrote that Hillary will work with the republicans and privatize social security.
I don't know how many times I put a link to the article about how Monica Lewinsky saved social security because the scandal happened while Clinton was in the final phase of privatizing it.

https://www.euronews.com/live
Great Hedges piece, mimi, thanks. Imagine how different
things would be if his byline was prominent in the NY Times, a regular guest on cable pundit shows or could be heard on dozens and dozens of radio stations across America?
The cold stark reality is he was summarily dismissed by the Times after given a warning following a college commencement speech in which he criticized Bush during those dark days of media silence and intimidation post 9/11, is never invited on the big reach shows and only gets heard on independent radio and news.
Which is why it is critical to support and help amplify courageous truth-tellers like him, especially now, when some in the MSM (i.e. RT, , Democracy Now, the Real News, Best of the Left, TYT) are holding the torch forward to expose the fraud and depravity.
It's wonderful he has a show on RT now. My cynical side is skeptical of the PTB there just wanting to cash in on all the rampant disenfranchisement leading to an opportunity to bring those people to their station. But overall I believe this to be a very good development.
The moral is clearly that, if you're watching media and they only want to focus on the horse race and sensationalism and aren't asking hard or substantive questions, then turn your backs on them. And tell them you're doing so, and others that you did.
This year was a major eye-opener and confirmation of a lot of beliefs and philosophies about the media and its relationship to shaping conversation we have with folks only paying attention on the surface.
I changed my party membership to unaffiliated, stopped going to TOP, cancelled PBS tv/NPR radio and haven't had cable tv or picked up daily newspapers in years.

Ha-ha reach around on the Dems LOL
And I laugh when it gets under their skin. I mean, I pop in to DKos, open a Bernie diary and there come the trolls, spouting the same old David Brock garbage they used in the campaign. They just can't pivot from "Crush 'em! Make 'em lick Hillary's boots!" to "Worry about party unity, with flowers, and Kumbaya, and kitty cats, and inedible organic pasture diets (Kale was originally grown as livestock fodder) later."
No, Bernie. Don't drop out and and endorse Hillary yet--isn't it fun to watch the veins pop out on wax museum escapee David Brock's face? And putting your fund raising machine behind non-DWS progressive candidates? Oh do keep it up. Less than an hour after the Kumbaya first meeting of the NJ Delegation to the Democratic Convention, the pretty speeches about unity, and State Chair John Currie’s flattering words for Bernie Sanders’ NJ chair John Wisniewski, Wisniewski was summarily removed as a Jersey member of the DNC. This was by vote of the state committee, which met as soon as the delegates left the room; one meeting over, the next beginning.

You can tell that they're not serious about trying to do something about it. What reason was there to take advantage of that ruling during the primary, if not to scare away potential rivals and to bury the ones you already have under a pile of cash.
