My mother in law is Faux addicted

We live together. She is 85, lovable and nuts.

So we eat dinner watching O'Riley after the friggin wheel.

Anyway, last night the O man had the T man on for an "in-depth" post debate interview.

It was the saddest thing I have seen. The O man, might have well had a ring in the nose of the T Man.

Important issues?

Howard Stern. Fat women. You name it, O man raised everything of no substance.

Was T man smart enough to say, "Bill, that's bullshit." Did you know what HRC did/supports ?

T man is the only politician in my lifetime that cannot non-answer the question he doesn't want to answer and turns the response on the opponent.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Oops, I'm conflating stupid....

the other day. I was walking up and saw her struggling to get her groceries out of the cart. It was at Costco and some of the things were heavy. I noticed many just look away as they got into their cars. I stopped and helped.

I carefully approached her, old people are startled easily... and I asked if I could help. She first declined and I said it was no problem. I helped get her stuff in the trunk that she wanted there and then helped her put her really big purse near her console and put her other items behind her seat. All the time she's saying how nice it was to have someone actually stop and help.

Then I saw the O'Reilly book. Not one, but two. One is a gift for her granddaughter...

I said, he's an awful man.
She said, "oh he's wonderful!"
I said
He's a vile and disgusting person and it's shameful anyone would read let alone buy his trash.

I then smiled and returned her cart and left. No ill feelings but damn... such a waste of money for two damn books.

for decades, along with the Faux but not so much of an O'Reilly fan, more into El Rushbo. I still have a box full of her books that I will one day burn. I tried everything with her to get her back out of Faux land, to no avail. But I did tell her many times I was burning those books after she was gone.... I will not disseminate that garbage throughout the world. And I'll find a place to burn them, eventually. Not so easy to do and one friend even declined to participate saying they're books, after all. They're not books but trash and lies.

We had a deal with the Faux and any RWNJ radio when I went there to move her out of her house and into Assisted Living - she was not allowed to turn any of that on in any room I was in while in that house. And she did do abide by that, mostly because I promised her that I would scream back to it, which I always used to do. I could never sit in front of the Faux and not say something back to the TV. I'm just not strong enough!

She has only seen my two kids twice in 24 years. She won't fly out here to the "left coast" because of all the hippies and liberals. She moved from Boston to SC because she liked the hate laws they were making there.

She couldn't come out to Oregon or Calif, but she made it to Arizona to tour the many mansions of John McCain.

It's her loss because our kids are wonderful.

My husband can barely call her anymore because you can't even talk about the bloody weather with Faux News assholes.

I read somewhere that right-wing think tanks buy up those foul books by the Fox News clowns with the sole intent of driving them up the New York Times bestseller list. I'm sure they get bundles full at places like Costco because they get reduced rate incentives. And that's how propaganda works. They can then point out to all and sundry, "look there are so many conservative people who will buy books from these authors."

They then turn around, and when they can't give them away because they're so bad, they infest places like old age homes and church basements with this garbage. Ever notice how so soon after they're released they're in the 50% off bins? I went to a senior citizen place in CT fairly recently with in-laws and saw a slew of books by Fox News buffoons and other RW conservative garbage. Easy pickings. Plus, they reliably vote. Snakes...of course I didn't leave without defacing a few.

Same scenario at the airport, in NY anyway. Run by an apparent right-wing cabal called Hudson News, the offerings are overwhelmingly nauseating display of right-wing garbage and dumbed-down stuff. All throughout the South I've seen Fox News on throughout the terminal. Same for radio. Scan the dial and it's all Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck - on multiple stations! Next to of course conservative Christian fundamentalist doomsday preachers.

This is how propaganda works, folks.

You're a sport EM for watching. Thanks for the vignette reminding us how truly demented Faux News is.

How so many people are so fucking gullible and fall for this shit. I too am constantly at odds with my Mother in-law and other family members over this, to no avail. They think I'm a radical nut, but I refuse to bite my tongue for the sake of family. "Well I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge TO BOAST OF, but he thinks he KNOWS something that he does NOT KNOW, whereas I am quite conscious of my own ignorance. Socrates
