Monday OT: May 25 is Towel Day
Setting Orange, Discord 72, 3186 YOLD (Discordian)
And let us not forget 13.0.7.9.12 by the Mayan Long Count
This is something of a Red-Letter day for Christians. Toledo fell to Alfonso VI of Castile on this day in 1085. The reconquista paved the way for Toledo's infamous inquisition as well as the multiple persecutions, stake burnings, forced conversions, expulsins and mass murders of Jews which preceded it. Then, on this day in 1521, Holy Roman Emperor Charles the Fifth closed out the Diet of Worms by issuing the Edict of Worms, declaring Martin Luther to be an outlaw for wrong thinking and criticising some church practices. Lastly, on 5/25/1895, Oscar Wilde was thrown in the slammer for two years for having a relationship that was frowned upon by the religionistas.
On this day in history:
240 BCE – Was the first known recorded perihelion passage of Halley's Comet.

1914 – The "Liberal" UK House of Commons passed the Home Rule Bill for Ireland, to replace direct rule with some sort of satellite rule. It never came into force because of WW I. That was probably just as well.
1925 – John T. Scopes was indicted for teaching evolution in Tennessee, perhaps appropriately.
1938 – The bombing of Alicante during the Spanish Civil War killed 313 people.
1953 – The first public TV station in the US officially began broadcasting as KUHT

Born this day in:
"It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents - except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness."

Good morning Lookout. Our worms have a fancy three
story apartment complex, separate from our regular compost which is in turn separate from our green-waste pick up bin from the waste removal service. We spend an undue amount of time processing garbage, as is appropriate for a politically aware family.
Thanks for the clip.

Good mornng RA. Nothing further from my mind. I husband
my towels and have, on occasion, used them for the purposes described in Dougs guide, warding off certain predatory avian marauders.

Wonder what German Protestants, historians, and the town council
of Worms will come up with next year, to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the famous diet where minions of
YouTube, Facebook, and Twitterthe pope and the emperor tried to shut down Martin Luther for spreading disinformation and stirring up trouble.Well, we can assume that an auto da fe is right out, but
maybe a comfy pillow fight in the town square. We'll just have to see.

Afternoon el
Et al
Had a fight with my bamboo and it won. Old Hamai clump bamboo, 30 years old and needed a trim. I am a lot older than I was when I planted it. Six hours of work later, I was down and I have been wasted for two days. Just back up and running. What fun. It needs another six hours of trimming. Some culms are 3 to 4 inches in diameter. She’s 40 feet high.
Thanks for the ot. Take good care and have a good one.

Good afternoon magi. I don't envy you at all. I know nothing
about the various bamboo cultivars, but I know that some are seemingly indestructible. I hae fought the stuff and lost more than once, and once had to resort to paving it over. Good luck.

Wounds need air to heal, most of the time, band aides don't help. Anyways, the thought of this afternoon along with one shared when this covid started building global stress, predictably, that truth will boil and unveil previously hidden motives, tartar and all and in reading history, a very expected outcome, sad to know, but, have known; so, best to be safe in community and being.
A shout out to those who perished in wars conscripted to by wills beyond their own.

We have a nudist camp about an hour away.
Like, people sometimes own a home in that place.
Nudity in all public commons is mandatory.
You must bring a towel, or else you can't sit on any public bench.
The place is always full in summer.
I bet towels are sold everywhere in that camp.

Good morning otc. Sounds like an interesting place,
though not some place I'd opt to live. Mandatory nudity would get to be a drag at times I'm certain.

It would make me nuts, and I would have to exercise a lot.
I have better uses for my towels!
