Little of the cruelty, injustice, and nefarious intent of those rigging our society is hidden at the bottom, and many of humanity’s biggest problems won’t be solved unless we undo the rigging.
Key points:

That's the crux of the matter right there. Unless we can change how we're governed, mitigate the power of the rich, we'll keep going downhill.
The rich want us all to be paupers. Debtors prisons exist.

I saw it on the local news and they made more of the fact that the BGA better govt. assoc.? got it's wish, with much less emphasis on the emails themselves, sound familiar?

Also read an article in Texas Monthly about prison labor used in the sugar cane fields of Sugar Land, Texas. The prison is literally just up the road from me. I've known it was there since moving here the first time several decades ago, but until the article, was oblivious to the fact that the prisoners provided slave labor for the sugar industry in a brutally harsh environment - worse than cotton, by far.
Here's a link, if anyone is interested. It seems an ex prison guard has become an advocate for the history of the dirty little secret to see the sun. Kudos to him!
