Let Me Catapult This Right Out There

Yesterday while reading, I ran across this little bit of widely accepted propaganda, to whit, "tax relief." Of course progressives will recognize this as the bullshit excuse for tax cuts.
As taxes are the price we pay for civilization and our civilization is deteriorating around us, I would like to propose the term "austerity relief" for raising taxes on those doing so very well in our terribly unequal economy/society. I suggest that my fellow progressives spread the term "austerity relief" far and wide, especially when "tax relief" is mentioned.
Austerity is the bane of our society and must and should be combatted. Let's catapult austerity relief right out there!

Love that!
And let's keep in mind the truth Leona Helmsley so candidly blurted out:
It's time we got some austerity relief, including tax relief, for the "little people". And the way to do that is make sure the Leona Helmsleys of this country pay their full, fair share of taxes now and henceforth!

It's time to push back against Frank Luntz, Grover Norquist
and their ilk who keep sticking it to the little guy. In GA, HOT toll lanes are very popular and the top toll rates keep rising, recently to nearly $14 for a 16 mile stretch. So while the masses are stuck in traffic, the well-heeled cruise by. It's just neo-feudal!

Taxes don't work the way most think. As a result of this lack of understanding "tax relief" sounds like a real thing.
They say "tax relief" every time they cut taxes for the
wealthy and corporations and cut programs for the poor and middle class because we just don't have the money. Then they find a way, often locally, to sneak in some regressive sales tax (Special Local Option Sales Taxes [SPLOST] are very popular in GA) to make up for the lack of state and local funds.
We need to start taxing the guys who've been Hoovering and hoarding all the money! They get the little guy who is increasingly feeling the pinch to support tax cut, ANY tax cuts, when what we need are targeted taxes at those who benefit most from the economy and can most afford to pay.
Acceptance of the term "tax relief" is how TPTB have been able to sell austerity to those who can least afford it. Austerity relief now!

I'm with you! Austerity relief now!!
This is no time for "belt-tightening" -- not with infrastructure crumbling and so many people in need, etc. etc. Anyway, since when are taxes the biggest problem average people are facing? Every time they cut taxes, I get an extra $4.50 and Warren Buffet gets an extra $44M or so. But I guess that's the point, right?

Yep."Tax relief" is for TPTB. Everyone gets screwed. We
need austerity relief before things get even worse.
