Lambda Legal sues DoJ and Education

DOJ and the Education Department under President Trump claimed the Obama administration had failed to explain how transgender protections are consistent with the express language of Title IX.

Lambda Legal argues in the court filing that the new administration's decision creates confusion for schools across the country and eliminates an important resource for ensuring that schools meet their Title IX obligations.

An estimated 150,000 youth between ages 13 and 17 are transgender. These transgender students, along with younger transgender children, experience alarming rates of harassment, bullying, and discrimination in their schools, which often goes unaddressed by school administrators. Many are denied access to sex-segregated facilities, such as school restrooms and locker rooms, in accordance with their gender identities.

Is that the same as Title 9? Those Roman Numerals are so confusing! When you add numbers and gender together it gets as confusing as particle physics. What color is a quark?

How can a quark have a flavor and why are some quarks strange?

Looking forward to Lambda getting the Trump DOJ straightened out. Maybe Trump's Dept. of Education can help educate the DOJ and go forward together.

For reference, here's what Title IX says:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Title IX of the United States Education Amendments of 1972, Public Law No. 92‑318, 86 Stat. 235 (June 23, 1972), codified at 20 U.S.C. Sections 1681–1688.
