Kamala: Where have I seen this movie before?
You would think that way that the Democratic establishment has viciously smeared the progressive left when they've dared to question Kamala Harris' bona fides, that she would be a shoo-in to win in 2020.
Guess what? There's already been a match-up poll, and Harris didn't impress.
According to the poll:Former Vice President Joe Biden defeats Trump 54 percent to 39 percent
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders defeats Trump 52 percent to 39 percent
Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren defeats Trump 49 percent to 42 percent
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker defeats Trump 45 percent to 40 percent
California Senator Kamala Harris defeats Trump 41 percent to 40 percentThe poll's margin for error is 3.4 percentage points, meaning that Harris is the only Democrat whose victory is within the margin of error.
The sample group itself leans Democratic.
Harris is virtually tied with one of the most unpopular men in the country.
And this is our saviour? This is the candidate that you want shame progressives into meekly accepting?
Why am I getting a flashback to 2016?
Maybe it's because all the establishment Dems that drove the Democratic Party into the ditch want to remind us that it is 2016 all over again, and the lesson to be learned is that progressives need to STFU!

What Kamala Harris' Critics Don't Understand About Female Politicians
Trump’s re-election campaign has already kicked off, the Bernie 2020 crowd is gearing up for another go, and another prominent female politician is getting dragged over social media for being a “neoliberal corporatist” who’s more interested in “identity politics” than economic justice. Only this time, that woman is Kamala Harris, a senator from California who – like Hillary Rodham Clinton before her – seems doomed to fail a variety of punishing ideology tests put forth by the American left.
Based on everything we (and Clinton) saw in 2016, the slams against Harris seem like obvious sexism.

Why Bernie Sanders Supporters Have Been Going After Kamala Harris on Twitter
Others on Twitter are calling harsh far left criticism of Harris gendered, and a reflection of some Bernie supporters’ flat unwillingness to support a woman. Harris is imperfect, but perhaps on some level it’s fair to say that the only reason this imperfection matters is that we demand the perfection of and allow no room for mistakes for women in positions of power.
Surprisingly only Salon points out the obvious truth.
There seem to be two possible explanations for this line of attack on progressives: Either certain liberals have made the cynical decision to smear their opponents instead of engaging in honest debate, or there is genuine confusion about why politicians like Booker and Harris — and Clinton, for that matter — are distrusted by people on the left. One suspects that a large percentage of Clinton loyalists are indeed acting in bad faith, and would rather try to discredit their critics — many of whom are women and people of color — than engage in a debate. But there’s no doubt that some are genuinely bewildered by progressive criticisms of the Democratic Party.
Uh, yup.
And that doesn't even factor in the reality that her poll numbers suck even before the GOP pulls out there big guns on her.
The big donors have anointed another loser candidate and progressives are supposed to shut the f*ck up and fall into line. And we'll rig the primary if we have to.
If the loser candidate loses to a hopeless moron, it's the fault of the Left for not being enthusiastic about a candidate that didn't represent them.
Rinse, repeat.
Sequels are never as good as the original, and the original sucked.

What if
Bernie Sanders really wasn't the most popular pol in this country?
That's the part they're not getting--IMO, his "about-face" after the primaries hurt him quite a bit. The way the MSM continues to point out how popular he is masks that notion--although if I had a choice between him and anybody else, I'd vote Sanders all the way. But that doesn't change my opinion of "Kamala Harris"--I don't give a flying fuck what the Democratic Hoi Polloi on Twitter has to say about "Kamala Harris" because she's just another cookie-cutter Clintonite. And yes, indeed, Salon nails exactly why there's this reaction:
because THEY GOT NOTHIN' TO DEBATE WITH.

Something happened to Bernie in June 2016. Either he suddenly became super patriotic to Hillary, DWS and the DNC /party, or... or somebody "got to him." It's Door One or Door Two. Now, maybe he did say, "what the hell... Hillary and these DNC fucks have been fucking me for a year, but... I'll just turn the other cheek, let bygones be bygones, and do all I can to support Hillary down the home stretch!" (fat chance in my view), or... or... somebody tapped Bernie on the shoulder. Becuz, you don't just come away from a hard fought Primary and, without concessions from the winner, wholeheartedly support your opponent. Or maybe you do. But, from what I saw at the Convention, there was no way he was going to support Hillary during the GE, and did as little as he could to make it look like he was "supporting" her. When, in fact, all he was doing on that GE campaign was giving the same stump speech he had been giving for a year. The exact same one. Which fried Hillarys bunns to say the least. So... so, my money is on that tap on the shoulder.

I can't imagine it happening any other way
Bernie Sanders--the Senator guy with the unblemished, lengthy, actually-progressive, publicly-available voting record going back 30-some odd years for that and other elected offices--is not the same guy who emerged after that farce of a nominating convention. He got Zaprudered at the end. I've always believed that, and always will, much as it can never be publicly proven.

Really?
Doesn't make sense to me, nor does it sound like the guy that busted his ass for a year. I knew Bernie was in it to win it when he made three stump speech appearances here in NY state on the same day(s). You don't do 3-a-days three months before the Convention becuz you're faking it. Not at 74 years old. Bernie was in it to win it. The aftermath boiled down to the options left on the table. Door #1 or Door #2. I believe he "chose" Door #2. The aftermath boiled down to what he could do, given the $h!tty cards he'd been dealt, to maintain what he could maintain. It worked. He still is the most popular "Dem" of the sorry bunch, still has enough cred to raise a crowd of 5,000 to 10,000 within hours, still in the game. We can whine that he didn't just flip off the Dem party last July with double middle fingers, go rogue and take his thousands with him to... to... to do something, maybe start a third party, but he opted not to go that route, opted to live to fight another day. If some feel betrayed by that...

I've looked at Bernie's
"about face" as more of Bernie playing the cards dealt, doing what he could to maintain what he could, rather than sticking a knife in the back of supporters.
It worked. He's Still regarded as the most popular Dem, and he's still actively in the game. Hillary, meanwhile, has been reduced to a has-been.
Bernie is Far from over, and it remains to be seen what role he plays in 2018 and 2020. I Do Not expect him to run for prez, but I fully expect he'll be fully engaged in the process.

@Wink
Bernie's also keeping the notion of a truly democratic government working for the people alive in the minds of that huge section of the American people restricted to the corporate media, in that very corporate media which had previously blacked him out - and showing up the corporate Dems by contrast also not otherwise presented.
Who else could have achieved this, and how else could he have done it except by sacrificing himself in this manner to retain this chance for the people to realize what he kept telling them throughout his campaign; that it wasn't about him; that no single person could make this better; that change had to come from the bottom up?
It surprises me (and, I suspect, likely you as well,) that so many people, even some with access to sufficient information to form a good idea, still don't apply what they know to realize at least something about what the global monster is that we're all up against and where publicly spitting defiance and starting a 3rd party, as though America was a democracy or at least a country of law, gets anyone or any movement.

He may have "fucked his supporters" (in the minds of some) at the Convention, and afterwards, but he still remains the best option progressives have, like him or not. Ain't nobody else getting it done, or carrying Bernie's load, so... until somebody steps up Bernie is what we got. Or not. Your mileage may vary. For me, he's Way better than whoever might be option 2.

Keep giving me warmed-over neo-liberals who care nothing for the economically downtrodden--which is now about half the freaking country!!!--who are a lot more like Carly Fiorina or Meg Whitman than anyone else--and, no, I'll decline to support them.
I'd even consider supporting Elizabeth Warren, who disappointed me tremendously last election. At the very least she does have a good handle on the economics of the situation going on today, and she did make a decent effort at helping people out with the amount of power she had.

bit there is that Sanders only wins 52 - 39.
It's possible (like dkmich said) that progressives have become disenchanted with Sanders, but frankly, I doubt that. Sure a lot may like him a bit less but they would still vote for him in a heartbeat, especially over Trump.
I think it's far more likely that smears (pushed mostly by Dems) have (a) hurt him with independents and (b) pushed a lot of Clintonites into Never-Bernie.
