(Joke article of the day): Obama to black voters: Trump would undo my legacy

SNIPPET FROM CNN ARTICLE ABOUT OBAMA'S INSANE PARTISAN REMARKS:

"And I know that there are a lot of people in barbershops and beauty salons, you know, in the neighborhoods who are saying to themselves, 'We love Barack, we love -- we especially love Michelle, and so, you know, it was exciting and now we're not as excited as much.' You know what? I need everybody to understand that everything we've done is dependent on me being able to pass the baton to somebody who believes in the same things I believe in," Obama said.

The pitch was similar to remarks Obama made in September at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner, when he said that he would consider a Trump victory to be "an insult to my legacy."

In an attempt to drive home the point that the black community could be particularly affected by a Clinton loss, the President said Wednesday the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, support for historically black colleges and universities, civil rights, voting right and even the first lady's garden would be at risk under a Trump presidency.

He said progress made on criminal justice reform could also be stalled, citing the case of the Central Park Five, a group of black and Hispanic youths whose wrongful conviction in a 1989 New York rape was later overturned.

What can you even say about this guy that even comes close to describing his hypocrisy? He's ignored the plight of the black community for 8 years, now he cares? He came into office during a time we needed a jobs program, not the fraud that goes by the acronym ACA. All Americans were desperate to try to claw their way back from the destruction heaped on the half the world's economies, but blacks were especially hurt.

Back when the crash hit, I was working at a foam fabricating plant in North Omaha. North Omaha is end of town where the majority of blacks in Omaha reside. North Central and North East Omaha. At least two days a week (usually more), before the reality of the massive rape of the world's economies by Wall Street finally hit, we would have maybe one or two black men coming in wanting to know if we were hiring and this is the God's TRUTH, almost to a man they used some form of the phrase "I'll do anything". There were times when I actually had to struggle not to cry. After 2008, it was a hundred times worse. Suddenly it's an everyday thing. I would sometimes have two or three guys at a time in there filling out apps. If Obama had given a damn about the black community, he would have initiated a jobs program. Black men and women still have the highest rate of unemployment in this country by a long ways, even by the Department of Labor's own juggled and tweaked numbers. Please see:

So, where has this jackass been the last 8 years? In Bizarro World? He's been at the heart of causing MORE damage to the rights and protections of ALL Americans, let alone black Americans, than any other president in my lifetime, and that includes Chimpy McSmirkster. WTF legacy is he talking about? This is the guy that put the safety net up for cuts. He gave us the Austerity Program that cut WIC and Head Start. The ACA was a fraud perpetrated on the American people to give Big Pharma and the healthcare insurance industry a captive customer base and he made damn sure we won't get any cut in the cost of our drugs. Look at what's happened since his great scheme. The predators have come out of the woodwork.

What push has this guy made to ensure that voting rights are fair for all? I don't see him too worried about the black community unless you call this Judas Goat act of his 'being worried'. All he wants is their votes. His 'legacy' trade deals will hurt all of us, but from what I saw working out in North O (the O stands for 'Orifice'), the people he's wagging his finger at are the people who will be hurt the most.

Have I mentioned lately that I'm really starting to hate this guy?

NOTE: Don't care about that damn garden either, but it was a cute, disingenuous touch.

The people who run our country as so far removed from the rest of us. They're too good to drive for themselves (precious minutes on the phone lost to the world-OMG!!!), too good to fly commercial (even First Class), too good to shop for their own groceries (my chef does that), too good to rub shoulders with them (what do you think luxury boxes are for?), too good to have their kids go to school with ours.

No wonder they do such an awful job of running the country.

As far as Barack and what he's saying on the campaign trail, this struck me:

The pitch was similar to remarks Obama made in September at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner, when he said that he would consider a Trump victory to be "an insult to my legacy."

It's good to know that we're beginning to get through to him.

and it did have bus service. Once in a while someone would pull in the lot with an old beater and those were the times I'd usually get multiple guys wanting to fill out apps. Sometimes someone else would drive them. The guys who took the bus walked the entire neighborhood and hit every business. The people that were saving their gas would park in our lot first (it wasn't behind a gate) and I'd see them walk across the street to the place that cut and sold marble and rock then they would disappear for a while and when they were done they came back for the car (I would let them do that). The lucky ones with a car AND gas would drive from one place to the next. (1 had big windows that faced part of the lot and I'd watch this stuff saying a little prayer in thanks that I did have a job.). It was all so soul suckingly DEPRESSING to watch. I have since become reacquainted with what it's like to live that way.

When I was young we had nothing We lived in the projects and walked everywhere we ever went. We were hungry all the time, and we got Salvation Army presents at Christmas and donated turkeys at Thanksgiving. I may be a pasty white poor old woman, but I understand what poverty and want and need are. Way more than that jug-earred Mo Fo in the White House. He's never had to do without a damn thing. His legacy is a joke. A pathetic, sick joke. And to toss this guilt grenade in the laps of those among us who are living with pain and want every day really really pisses me off.

Wouldn't it be nice to hear what Killer Mike, or Nina Turner, or Harry Belafonte, or Cornel West think about Obama's "legacy."

What an Ego!! Tragic. That "hopey/changey" thing didn't work out well for anyone. Almost ashamed of how optimistic I was eight years ago.

Sick about what the Clintons, DWS, DNC & all their cronies did to Bernie Sanders, and to all of us. We lost an opportunity we won't see again for a long, long time, if ever.

See President Trump, one term, as only option to get rid of Clintons and their corrupt friends. Shake up the Republican party, give the Democratic Party a chance to change. More than 5% for Green Party.

Almost ashamed of how optimistic I was eight years ago.

I am deeply ashamed.

I should have seen this shit coming a mile away.

I failed to learn from experience.

I woke up from the Republicans bullshit narrative and then immediately fell for the Democrats bullshit narrative.

With my previous experience I should have known better. I have absolutely ZERO excuse that I can make for it either.

Which leads me to the realization that I probably am no where near as smart as I like to think I am...

At least it didn't take me near as long to realize my foolishness this time, so I guess maybe I am getting a little better.

what I saw.

Obama was completely an corporate suit in my eyes. His oratory powers were lost on me. All I heard was "Baseball... Apple Pie... God Bless America!".

I thought he was a corporate suit, and it scared me because we have so little time.

I hope I am not as right about Hillary as I was with Obama. If I am, we're fucked.

believe in something good, and believe that something good was actually achievable that I subconsciously left my blinders on.

I realized my mistake about 5 or 6 weeks in though.

Then during his re-election I held my nose, but I also pledged that it would be the last time I would hold my nose for either fucking party.

I am sticking to that pledge.

Even if I decide to vote for Trump over Stein in Florida if it looks like a real tight race I will do so without holding my nose because I will know that that vote will be cast as an effort to destroy both these corrupt parties and weaken them for a new third party challenge in 2018.

My vote will be a vote to burn the fucker down.

Sometimes real change requires real pain, and I am one of those that is in the position to feel that pain first, and I am doing it anyway.

Short term pain for myself is acceptable if the long term results lead to a more open, free and less corrupt warlike nation in the long term.

And a double fuck you to both parties for putting me in the position where I have to make this decision in the first place.

None of them will ever see my vote again, both parties are completely toxic and I will have none of it.

I didn't see this before. I was all flipped out about the nuts in the Tea Party, doing what I thought was right to keep them the hell out. Even in 2012 I was still rooting for Obummer, still thought he was better than the Mittens, still defended the ACA sometimes rabidly. Makes me cringe now. I blame myself for some of it, but not all of it.

I know I've harped on this theme many times, but that whole Tea Party sham worked far too well for ConservaDems with people like me. And that I will never forgive the right for, or the left either now. I almost wonder if there wasn't some complicity in that - make these lefties think the Baggers are public enemy number 1, they are the ones who'd destroy democracy, they are the war mongers, they are the terminally stupid. And look how well that worked? And all the racism directed at Obama really got me going too, I believed that SOB and our media that it was all just Repuke obstruction and racism, if ONLY he could get around that then we'd get traction. Huh, yeah. We were played beautifully.

Elsewhere, a poster with the handle “subir” who has been urging readers to vote for Hillary, said this:

Unfortunately, identity politics works with humans, especially when they feel threatened. And that's what we've seen play out over the past few cycles. I think for the left to succeed, we have to recognize that and find our own way to leverage it.

And that’s just what the ConservaDems successfully did and have done — leverage identity politics.

Think defeating Clintons, DNC, DLC, all the cronies in their cult, is the most important thing we can do. A one term President Trump, upending the Republicans and breaking the hold the Clintons have on the Democratic Party is a start.
AND, way more than 5% for the Green Party.
We must, must, must have more than "two" political parties.

This clearly illustrates how wrapped in the blanket of privilege and surrounded by a bubble of like thinking individuals can quickly change a person.

I believe that Obama probably went into politics initially with good intentions.

But then somewhere along the way he made one compromise and opened the door. That inevitably leads to more and more "compromise" of your core beliefs and principles, because you have just undermined the very foundation of them.

It's kind of like how people gradually get into the world of crime. They almost universally start with small things, but progressively engage in more intense crimes as they go because they have already crossed the previous bridge.

I don't think I am expressing properly what I am trying to impart, so I am gonna go dig up a couple fence posts (or as much of it as my back will allow) and clear my head with something funny like the Weird Medicine podcast. Smile

See you folks soon! o7

1. First African-American President in U.S. history

2. First President to get a national health care plan passed (through both Congress and the Supreme Court, no less).

3. President under whom the economy turned around from the cataclysmic crash of 2008. (Thank you, Bill Clinton and Alan Greenspan--but most will blame Bush the Lesser.) And without all that costly and rabble-rousing New Deal stuff, too!

(The spots of 2 and 3 might switch for some people.)

4. Opposed invading Iraq (but, alas, inherited it).

5. Blocked at every turn by Congressional Republicans.

If even a little of the truth seeps through to the majority of historians and the general population, "perhaps not quite ready for prime time," will make the list, but I think 1 through 3 will prevent that.

The effectiveness of the propaganda machine is hard to overestimate, as is the power of number 1, above, including on historians of all hues. And, of course, no one, especially a serious U.S. historian, wants to be charged with "the subtle racism of too low expectations" as Americans were initially, or with "the subtle racism of too high expectations," as Americans were by 2010.

Well-informed leftists, of course, may have a different list, but it will not be the list that prevails fifty years from now.

Yesterday, I said in this Comment:

Had he simply left healthcare alone in his first term, and stuck to delivering on his principal campaign promises:

  • closing Guantanamo Bay
  • getting us completely and permanently out of Iraq
  • getting us completely and permanently out of Afghanistan

the 2010 elections would have returned a Democratic Senate and House to power and he would have had a refreshed store of political capital to pass real healthcare reform (read: single public payer no opt-out).

Instead, we know what had actually taken place: he flushed his accumulated political capital down the toilet on a less-than-worthless healthcare non-reform bill, the completely justified nationwide hatred of which triggered massive Republican victories in the 2010, 2012, and 2014 Congressional and Senate elections. Meanwhile, Guantanamo's still open for business, and we're going back into Iraq and Afghanistan, with Syria assuredly not far behind.

And Perpetual Goldwater Girl Hillary Clinton as the "Democrat" running to succeed him.

Some legacy.

There's Obummer's "legacy" for you.....

Glen Ford article: Hillary’s “Big Tent” is Obama’s “Grand Bargain” on Steroids. He argues that Clinton will take on Obama's legacy and succeed where he failed, all the while making it bigger and worse for people.

Barack Obama tried to woo Republicans into a “Grand Bargain” that would have gutted Social Security. Bill Clinton let loose the banks. But Donald Trump’s destruction of the Republican Party will allow Hillary Clinton to “gather the whole of the ruling class under the same party banner, in one Big Tent, where the grandest of bargains can be conceived and achieved without crossing an aisle.” The rich are about to get their best deal yet.
