Jill Stein, Green Party POTUS candidate, needs help (donations) to get on the ballot in Illinois (deadline - June 27th) and many other states (updated)

I am a long time lurker at TOS since the Dean days. Favorite writers include FishOutofWater, Pluto, Meteor Blades, and Cassiodorus. Now I come here and go to Naked Capitalism. Hoping to stir up a little interest in Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate for POTUS. In case you didn't know, Hillary has been going around saying good things about Bush I and Bush II....

To move the Overton Window, I think we need to raise the profile of the Green Party. This means ballot access for the Green Party and its presidential candidate. Hopefully, it will make the Democrats sweat a little. We need the Green Party on as many state ballots as possible.

If you would like to know more about Jill Stein/The Green Party's platform. See here:

Here is her wikipedia page:

Now, regarding Illinois, Jill Stein/the Green Party has until June 27th to get enough signatures in order to be on that state ballot for the November elections. Right now, they need money to pay a professional firm to collect the needed signatures by June 27th.

If you want to donate to her/the Green Party to the help them be on the ballot in November, go to:

How many do they already have?

Is there someone from the state party who can answer these questions from you (I presume you're from Illinois) and then you get back to us?

The GP has been on the ballot in my state since 2002. It's a completely Republican Deep South state using 10-year-old machines, so don't see any chance of the Greens picking up electors here.

One of the emails said 10,000 signatures for $30,000. That's about all I know. I'm not from Illinois. I just signed up to be on Jill Stein's email list, and have been getting notices for a few weeks about Illinois and their need for help.

As for being in a deep red state, same here, that being said being on the ballot has many advantages and if nothing else, helps push the Democratic Party a little.

I believe many Bernie supporters and independents in non-swing states may vote for Jill (she seems to be the presumptive nominee). Illinois is not considered a swing state. I wonder how many would vote for her and how it may affect the winner take all nature of the Electoral College.

There is one Green candidate I would vote for Senate if I lived in Maryland, Margaret Flowers.

I met Jill Stein and Margaret Flowers Friday evening. They are both wonderful. Very real and down to earth.
