I've never seen a politician sell-out so fast

Andrew Gillum won the nomination as a progressive just five weeks ago.
Normally Democrats wait until after the general election to sell-out to big money, but Gillum just couldn't wait.

Hillary Clinton is expected to campaign next month alongside Andrew Gillum, the Democratic nominee for Florida governor, sources told The Hill on Wednesday.

With Hillary's seal of approval, the establishment came calling.

Obama's endorsement gives Gillum, the 39-year-old mayor of Tallahassee, support from the trifecta of top-level Democratic party leaders as he campaigns to succeed term-limited Gov. Rick Scott in a hard-fought race against Ron DeSantis, a Trump-endorsed former congressman.
Gillum campaigned during the primary with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and later this month will bring former First Lady Hillary Clinton to South Florida.

Now this is Florida, and nothing says Florida better than DWS.

Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York and a possible 2020 presidential candidate, plans a long weekend of political activity in South Florida.
...On Sunday, he’ll join Gillum and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, at an event in her district.

Debbie F*ckin Wasserman Schultz. Nothing says corporate like DWS.
So with Hillary, Obama, and DWS comes big, big money.

Young, charismatic and describing himself as “unapologetically progressive” — with the potential to become Florida’s first African-American governor and one of only a few black governors ever — Gillum represents to left-leaning donors everything that the White House doesn’t, making him a pitch-perfect candidate for 2018 in the eyes of the uber-wealthy left, starting with Soros, donors and strategists told POLITICO.
...
Heading into the final weeks of Florida’s gubernatorial election, Gillum has attracted a flock of billionaires. His political committee has brought in $3.8 million from people affiliated with the Democracy Alliance of big donors, out of a total of $9.6 million. And the money is still coming in: California billionaire Tom Steyer pledged $5.2 million to Gillum on Wednesday.
Six of the 10 biggest individual donors to Gillum’s campaign and political committee — including hedge fund magnate Donald Sussman, software founder Stephen Silberstein, San Francisco donor-activist Phillips and social justice advocate Quinn Delaney — have either self-identified or been publicly identified as members of the progressive donor circle, according to a POLITICO analysis.

This will be the last time I write about this phony.

I would imagine our dear friend Aspie is busy in the bathroom at the moment. Doubtless the induced nausea was overwhelming.

@lotlizard and knew him personally as a result. I worked for the City of Tallahassee and regularly attended a number of Commission meetings. I actually saw Gillum in his first meeting as a City Commissioner.

My feelings about Gillum are very mixed. Before I retired, I had the chance to work with Andrew Gillum and was extremely impressed with him from day one. He came to his first meeting completely prepared and ready to ask well thought questions that showed his knowledge of his agenda materials and the reports we provided for him. Gillum is not just charismatic, but he is very intelligent and always showed a good understanding of the issues before him. Compared to some Commissioners that I have met in my 30 plus years career Gillum was extremely easy to work with.

Since then, some things have changed and I do have some concerns about Gillum. I outlined my concerns in this comment that I recently made.

I want to be clear. I never saw Andrew Gillum as a Berniecrat. From his earliest days as youngest person ever elected to the City of Tallahassee Commission, Gillum has been heavily involved with the Democratic party of Florida. He is a product of that party and the fact that the big wigs of the party are endorsing him is no surprise to me.

What bothers me is that Gillum does not need "help" from Clinton, Booker, or Obama. He is one of the best campaigners I have ever met and can do this on his own. It appears to me that the Democratic party wants to ensure he tows the party line which means he is changing some of his stands. And that is disturbing to see.

As billionaires go, Bloomberg may be an even bigger tell than Hillary.

I'm sure once he does win then he'll start working on ways to get money out of politics. Wasn't that what we were told when Hillary was taking big money while she was saying that we needed to get it out of politics?

Kinda reminds me of Obama's having to vote for the FISA bill so that he could win the presidency, but once he did he would then reverse the FISA bill because spying on us is unconstitutional.

I'm sure that I can find someone saying that's why Gilligan has to fundrais with the big dawgs.

Hillary's approval rating is in the 30s.

Very likely Her endorsement turns off more voters than it turns out.

@Not Henry Kissinger

Exactly. Kinda like throwing a drowning person a boat anchor. If I were Gillum's opponent, my ads would run pictures of Gillum and Hillary together all day, every day, until the election. You wouldn't even have to have anyone speaking, no music, nothing but the pictures of those two arm-in-arm. Surefire win. Especially in Flaw-dah.

Hillary Clinton Causes Cracks in the Gillum Coalition

Hillary is coming to campaign with Andrew Gillum.

Uh-oh!

There were already some rumblings in the progressive community that Andrew Gillum was moving to the center.

Those rumblings are now a roar. Social media is abuzz with progressives threatening to pull support from Gillum because of Hillary Clinton.

History has shown us the two groups that “brought it home” for Gillum in the primary, will “stay home” if things aren’t right in the General.

They are not exactly the “hold your nose” types.

And the icing on the cake:

I think the only other person that would piss progressives off more WOULD be Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

any possible shift to left. I guess she’s still a Goldwater Girl at heart. She certainly has done nothing to push the Democratic Party back to FDR’s social programs. She looks more like a neoconservative to me. She knows she’s toxic to supporters on the left, and she isn’t stupid. Evil, perhaps.

Either:

1. Gillum wins and then owes Her a Florida primary favor in 2020, or

2. Gillum loses and Her helps a reliable Establishmentarian hold the seat.

No downside for Her (although I think Her would prefer 1.)

There's a lesson here for "my" Texas senator Ted Cruz, who is running against Democrat Beto O'Rourke. Were I Ted Cruz, I would immediately provide free air fare, lodging, and marching bands for Hillary Clinton so that she could share a podium with Mr. O'Rourke. Once the pictures of Her with Beto hit all the Texas papers, Beto O'Rourke's chances would quickly move from slim to none.

It wouldn't take even 24 hours.

Here’s hoping HER campaigns for all the faux-progressives running. Makes it easiest to ferret them out. Call me the purity police, but you can’t be a progressive and accept an endorsement from HER. Just doesn’t work and here’s Exibit A.

And here’s also an excellent example of the Dems baffling ignorance. At this point, HER’s appeal has to be down to true believer dead Enders who would vote for a Hilter/Pol Pot ticket if there was a D next to it. Yet “she persists”. Expect to see more as we get closer to 2020. (I’m still not ruling out it being HER turn yet again.)
