I find it unacceptable that Americans can talk about universal health care...

No one from either wing of the Democratic Party is even mentioning an end to slimy subversion of our countries around the world, a removal of military bases occupying our soils, or an end to perpetual war.

Personally I find it unacceptable that Americans can talk about universal health care, paid family leave, free college tuition and such programs while bombing us into endless misery and stealing our resources to pay for it. I find it unacceptable that the Clintons (and Bushes et al) were responsible for wasting or stealing billions of dollars of aid to Haiti. I find it unacceptable that Puerto Rico is still being looted by the same hedge funds who have bought the Democratic Party. I find it unacceptable that people in Venezuela are blamed for the results of American embargoes and subversion. I find it unacceptable that I wake up each morning to more children murdered by bombs in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. I find it unacceptable that Brasil, Argentina, Greece and others to numerous to remember are looted to the point where we have to live without social programs. I find it unacceptable that America can ruin our countries in Central America so you can have a huge pool of undocumented slave labor to pick GMO tomatoes $ GMO corn and wash your gas guzzling SUV's. I find it unacceptable that America can spew out CO2, methane and other toxic wastes and planet destroying gases, and leave us to try and fix the resultant destroyed farms, towns and cities through high interest bonds.

And I think you all Americans know that the only way to pay for all your social programs is cutting your military budget down to some humane level. I will stand here and tell you you have no right to fuck us over so you can have free tuition etc. Not one peep out of anyone at either convention... its all flag waving and patriotic America first nationalism from both "sides".

My country, Bolivia, passed a new constitution a coupe years back (2009)... something we gained through years of non-violent (on our side except for some property damage) street protests and blockades and voting. Yes, the USA puppet neoliberal government murdered us with their pre-WW2 weapons. We still got rid of them with massive demonstrations of more than a million people (10% of the population), led by our miners union, surrounded La Paz and marched in mass to the government palace.

Here are two of articles from our fundamental rights section:

ARTICLE 10º. —

I. Bolivia is a pacifist state that promotes the culture of peace and the right to peace, as well as cooperation among the peoples of the region and the world, in order to contribute to mutual understanding, equitable development, and the promotion of interculturalism, with full respect for the sovereignty.

II. Bolivia rejects any war of aggression as an instrument of solution to disputes and conflicts between States and reserves the right to self-defence in the event of aggression involving the independence and integrity of the State.

III. It is prohibited the installation of foreign military bases in Bolivian territory.

ARTICLE 14º .—

I. Everyone has legal personality and capacity in accordance with the laws and enjoy the rights recognized by this Constitution, without distinction.

II. The State prohibits and punishes all forms of discrimination based on sex, color, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, origin, culture, nationality, citizenship, language, religion, ideology, political or philosophical affiliation, marital status, economic or social, occupation, education level, disability, pregnancy, or that have the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on equal rights of all people.

The USA has been trying to destroy our constitution every day in every way from the time we elected our constitutional delegates to the present moment. Clinton? Bush? Obama? All the same corporate subversion attempting and mostly succeeding in the destruction of our revolutions

There were only two speeches that I actually "enjoyed" last night. One was the young disabled woman. The other was the little girl, Karla Ortiz, and her mom who spoke real Spanish. They both brought me to tears and an immense feeling of frustration and anger. Because, at least as far as the girl and her mom goes, I get it. Its personal. (Note: No one in my family has any disabilities). I saw the clip of the girl when it first appeared on YT and always wondered what happened to her after that horrid pandering by Clinton (I certainly wouldn't have allowed any Clinton to touch my grandkids). Her speech was so good (right up there with Rachel Corrie's speech when she was a kid) that I am wondering where they found her. Geez, I wonder if she is listed on imdb.

“[Clinton] wants me to have the worries of an 11-year-old, not the weight of the world on my shoulders,” Karla Ortiz said.

Whatever. I can get how an eleven year old can live in fear and believe that corporate Clinton can save her and be grateful. I can get she has no clue of the roots of her fear. She is only eleven. Fooling an eleven year old is unacceptable, making her believe her torturer is her savior is unacceptable. Being used to emotionally blackmail us is unacceptable. I am shocked that thirty or forty political speakers from liberal to "progressive" can get on stage and never once mention perpetual looting and war against the world. They all the wrong diagnosis and thus the wrong cure.

I have posted the video.

Not to get away from the main topic of the essay, allow me to be emotionally blackmailed for a bit. I can find no reference to Karla Ortiz or her mom doing any TV commercials, or even winning a speech contest at her school. I am glad for that, they seem to be real people.

The Clinton ad was released on February 19, 2016.

Supreme Court ruling expected soon on Obama immigration plan. June 18, 2016

Francisca Sanchez, 41, knows firsthand how the program could benefit her family. At a park near her home, with her daughter in tow, Sanchez described the day a few years ago when her husband left for work, but didn’t come home for nearly a month after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained him. "I was suffering because I didn’t know what to do,” Sanchez said in Spanish

Karla and her mom were at the Clinton victory rally on February 20, 2016.

Speaking publicly for the first time through a friend, immigration reform activist Astrid Silva, who runs the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada https://www.facebook.com/PLANevada/ at whose headquarters the event that led to Clinton’s encounter with Karla was held last weekend, Francisca said: ‘I’m very proud of my daughter for being brave and asking a question that a lot of people have on their minds.’

Mrs Ortiz, who works as a cleaner in Las Vegas, revealed that she had met Clinton earlier that day and thanked her for coming and sharing her time but said that Clinton had not discussed the details of her and her husband’s case.

Instead, she said: ‘I just hope to God that DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans) goes through.’

As of this date, four months later, the Sanchez family still doesn't have their undocumented status solved.

Added Later, concerning PLAN, Karla and the other speaker, and the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada:

Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada: I went through their facebook (see above for link) back to January and can find no Clinton event sponsored by them, nor a single post concerning Karla Ortiz and her mom or Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. In fact the PLAN are up front with #BlackLivesMatter, anti-fracking, and other progressive immigration issues.

I then went to the Hillary events page for Nevada in February

http://blog.4president.org/2016/2016/02/hillary-clinton-to-get-out-the-c...

and found no event being held at "Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada"

Added even later:

PLAN responded to my query almost instantly, that there has never been a candidate for President in their offices. They are not associated with any campaign. The Mail article contains many inaccuracies. Their staff is free to support who they wish on their own time.

My own bit of investigation show the meeting to have been on

Sunday, February 14
Meeting with Nevada DREAMer Families
WHEN: 1:30PM
WHERE: 4250 E Bonanza Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89110

A blog post shows photos of the meeting here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511237692

NBC, http://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/clinton-appeals-dreamers-sanders-rall... said of the meeting:

"After her introductory remarks, the press was asked to leave so Clinton could have a private discussion with the Dreamers and their families.

After the press had left, Clinton wrapped up her remarks and asked for questions, which none of the attendees had at first. But then three young children sitting in the circle of people who met with her raised their hands.

One of them was Karla Ortiz, 10, of Las Vegas who came with her parents, who are not legally here. She told NBC News she had brought up to Clinton that her parents had deportation orders.

"I'm scared because I have asthma and my dad has gout and my mom has diabetes and it's more scary for me that my parents are gonna go somewhere else," said Ortiz. "I'm scared they are going to be suffering over there and it's going to be more hard for me," she said.

And last I embed a video of the real Hillary Clinton "Hillary Clinton Brags About Voting For A Border Fence To Keep Out Illegal Immigrants"

I should make this a separate essay??? This is probably not of great interest to anyone except me.

On the contrary, it's proof positive of something I've been saying for quite some time now:

"Clinton is Trump."

Donald J. Trump in a pantsuit. Thinks it's "her turn" because she's female and her otherwise-clone Trump isn't.

And you're right: the only way we're going to get a livable life for most ordinary Americans is to get that Cat-awful military budget down to reasonable levels, i.e., roughly 30% of current ones or less. And eliminate the ghastly costs of interventionist foreign policy, too.

I note with considerable disgust how quickly the only Presidential candidate we had who ever mentioned any of this found himself neutralized.

Alex, please remember that here on c99p, we realize that your enemies and ours are the same: the Wall Street firms who both ravage your countries abroad and suck us dry at home. Hillary Clinton's bosses.

and an evil empire. I find our actions unacceptable too, and I thought your words were both accurate and powerful.

Thankfully countries like Ecuador are fighting back. Congratulation to Bolivia for their work too.

For the first time ever, progress is being made at the United Nations for a binging legal instrument that would hold corporations accountable for human rights violations. Transnational corporations--many with larger economies than the countries they operate in--have enjoyed immunity from charges for destroying the environment and taking human lives. But Ecuador is leading a fight in the UN to create an international treaty and standards that can change this equation. At teleSUR's studios in Quito, Abby Martin interviews Ecuador's Permanent Representative to the UN and Chair of the negotiations for the binging instrument, María Fernanda Espinosa, about the need for this step.

Plenty of people on the streets in the USA are with us. Ecuador and Bolivia are the only two countries in South America with a socialist/human rights government still free to act. Venezuela is being torn apart. Paraguay, Brasil, Argentina have fallen to corporate greed but the fight goes on in the streets.

self described progressive left, the lack of a strong push to end U.S. imperialism. The damage and destruction it does around the planet is off the charts and yet it hardly merits a mention at the Dem party convention. I've long maintained that if we could focus on one thing, ending imperialism, it could serve to knock the entire house of cards down.

Could have fooled me. The closest thing to a widely established progressive left we have in this country exists in the Green Party and a small handful of activist groups (BLM, CodePink--sometimes). Together that seems to be accounting for about 10% of the voting public. That isn't anything either Democrats or Republicans have to worry about.

The progressive left in America is too fearful and just as enamoured of powerful elites to be anything worth paying attention to. Or at least it has been in the past. Is that changing? I'm skeptical. I think about 95% of the folks in Bernie's "revolution" are gonna vote for Hillary. I'd love very much to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

As long as we keep saying things like "Progressive Leader X deserves our respect, but this movement is bigger that him" instead of "Progressive Leader X deserves our respect, but he's working against us now, and it's time for us to act" things aren't gonna change. The "left" in America is too fragmented and afraid of appearing harsh or mean to get anything done.

The "left" in America by and large has no fight in it; it's all gun-grabbers, Gandhi worshippers (but an idealized, sanitized, children's story Gandhi, not the warrior Gandhi) and bleeding hearts of various stripes, all without a hint of realpolitik.

studiously kept off the public airwaves and for-profit print media.

The Socialist Equality Party takes their inspiration from Trotsky and though few share that stance, I think it's a positive that they exist. Working with Marxist analysis, those international scholars who publish at The Monthly Review and Monthly Review Press are also determined anti-imperialists as well as students of how monopoly capital came to exist, why it emerged, and where it is going.

MR published an issue mainly devoted to the American colony, Puerto Rico.

Larry Summers(boo, hiss) noted that stagnation - low growth in capitalistspeech - is an inevitable result of corporate globalization.
Authors at the MR had been pointing this out, and predicting it before it became reality, for a few decades. Naturally no establishmentarian like Summers would acknowledge the source of his remarks.

Obama still regards the government of Venezuela as a threat to the national interests of the USA. Incredible! Also incredible that no one with a forum will point out the absurdity of this stance.

The world is on fire. In both the literal and the figurative, it is burning all around us.

A few of the nations such as yours are trying to do better by being better, but the truth is that the powerful nations cannot be powerful nations without stealing everything from the weak, so they ail do all they can to stop it. It's easy for the American press to talk about the advanced/liberal Europe or Japan and the wonderful/terrible world they live in, but that world exists in exactly the same way we made ours, by creating a global system of looting resources from those without the power to stop them.

The old model of power has run up against entropy, and while it cannot win, it can take us all down by trying.

I suppose I went on and on (researching) about the Ortiz girl because she and her Mom got me emotionally involved. Even made me cry. Here is a kid looks like my daughter and grandchildren speaking about a situation I know first hand in my family. They are even real people with verifiable problems. I hope that their efforts will result in a positive outcome, for themselves and all the other DREAMers and other immigrants.

I feel bad though that they were hijacked by a candidate who could give a shit less about immigrants to help that person win an election and whose stated policies are about on the same level as her opponents.

The extreme right uses the same tactics in Bolivia and elsewhere. They hire disabled people to demonstrate against the government and block roads. Really, are we supposed to allow a couple dozen paid agitators block our downtown streets just because they are in wheelchairs? (We do let them most of the time). Do we bankrupt the state giving them pensions that are more than the salary of a college professor? Day after day its suggested by corporate media how "unfair the revolution is to disabled people"... this along with phony sex scandals, unfounded corruption accusations (in spite of the fact that we have a highly effective independent anti-corruption ministry) and attempts to destroy our economy one way or another. Day after day... it is plain old mass brainwashing. Lucky for us that most of our people spend more time working, partying and attending union meetings than watching or reading corporate news.
