@apenultimate The way I explain this situation to myself: Moral development is a complex human behavior that is normally distributed, just as other behaviors. Most people are in the middle and a small number at each end of the curve. It's rare for an individual to possess high moral development. Most people "fold".

It's kind of frightening how people turn so readily. Does nobody have honor or integrity? It seems very, very few actually do. This is actually understandable to an extent--because their paychecks depend on it.

But, these are typically not poor people. Most could probably retire with what they have now. Most have a lot of contacts in and outside of the industry. Why not go outside the industry and start your own network or internet channel or write great books like Naomi Klein or something!

Just thinking of all those I used to respect--Olbermann, Madow, Stewart, Colbert, etc. They all turned into raging neoliberals.

The people I still really respect and who have not bought into the bullshit--Naomi Klein, Noam Chomsky, Jimmy Dore, Lee Camp, and others. These folks have integrity and a true belief in doing the right thing and caring about people. As do the people here.

How do we help provide an area for progressive or left discussion? That video channel we were talking about, or a new political party, or a network for *real* news and information?

seems to swallow them up. There must be a lot of ego involved in becoming a teevee celebrity, and fierce competition for the top spots. Once you're on top of that dogpile, the paychecks are simply grand. I think for most of these network stars, it's a career, not a calling. They either pull in the ratings, or they're gone.
