I see some irony in our losing independence on the day everyone else is celebrating their gain of same!
Still, when you are old, anniversary dates need to be easy to remember.

Hubby and I's unofficial anniversary, when we got together for 20 years before getting married, is New Year's Eve!
Have a happy anniversary!

@QMS
on the celebration by going away for the weekend to catch a good band in concert.
Had it not been for the easy drive, the lovely accommodations, fantastic neighbors at the ranch, the pleasure of each other's company, the trip would have been a bust. The front man in the band was violently ill, had great difficulty singing and playing. People were leaving the dance hall early in droves. We stuck it out to the last song out of courtesy and great respect for the man's effort to entertain us.
Music, conversation, atmosphere, cold beer...time to reflect on our journey together.
QMS, it is often the little things that enrich us enormously.

in this house!
Cha cha is literally walking in a pattern. 2 big, 3 small steps. Waltzing is as well. Big step, 2 in place.
Texas Two Step requires a foot resting twice, then stepping under weight. Quick quick slow are left right left, resting the right on toe on the first slow, step backwards on that right foot, resting the left toe for the second slow, then repeat quick quick, etc...
Amazing how many drunks can pull it off with the right music playing!
you might be the first to demonstrate true Texas two-step. It may already have immigrated here, but not that I know of. I am very familiar with the steps of the cha-cha having grown up with parents who constantly danced that or the rhumba. The rhumba was harder to follow, even though they did it well.

chica! I have lost count of how many people I have taught to dance the two step and waltz. Not much cha cha, no rhumba at all, but if I see it, I can do it, then teach it.

Same steps, different patterns, but all patterns and fancy moves are done within the frame work of left right left, pause, right left right, pause.
Interesting! Thanks!

Happy Anniversary you two!
I knew there'd have to be a Mavericks song for you to dance to in celebration.
Is the two-step similar to the cha-cha ; ).
Enjoy!
Any day I get to listen to Raul
Cha cha: one, two, step step step
Texas two step: quick quick slow, slow

That's a great clarification for the uninitiated, thank you.
With just a few words and a song I have a clear idea of the difference, now. Thanks again, and celebrate like every day is your anniversary!

Looks like rhumba is 3 walking steps, then pause.
