A Friend Crosses the Rainbow Bridge

One of my cats has been having problems with his teeth and his left eye for the last few weeks. Today we brought him in for surgery this morning thinking a few teeth had to be removed and maybe he needed a shot of antibiotics for what we thought was pink eye that we tried to treat a couple weeks before with some ointment.
Well, it turned out to be something much worse. There was a large mass by his eye that was likely cancerous and given how much pain he was in, the vet told us it was best to put him to sleep. Given that he could barely eat wet food and spent most of the day sleeping I could see why.

Looks a lot like Teers Cat.
Gone but never forgotten. Lots of "I remember when ..." and smiles now.
We had to say goodbye to our kitty Annie whose
health had been declining for some time. After she was put to sleep by the vet (the kids and I were with her) he noted that she had had a large tumor in her mouth making it hard for her to eat. It had been time to let her go, but it was still sad.
This was over 20 years ago, but I still remember how hard it was. I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to Pumpkin, H, but there will be lovely memories.

The sad part is he was only just over 10 years old.
The problems began a few weeks ago when his respiratory problems just escalated more. Then he had the redness and the clear stuff from his eyes. By the time he was put to sleep his right eye was swollen shut and he couldn't even eat.

It's a huge shock to take in an ill animal and then discover
that it's much, much worse. I feel your sadness, has happened to me twice or more. You had no kind choice but that. Try to forget today with amnesia for a bit. Hugs.
