This white pigeon has been hanging around by the pond in town where I work for a couple of weeks now:
I don't see any leg bands on it, and someone else said it's just a white rock pigeon.
My coworker saw my camera yesterday and asked "Are you going to take a picture of me?" I said I don't take pictures of humans. That's one way to get them to stop asking!
We were able to start digging in the garden the other day, pulling out last year's stuff at least; now is a good time because the ground is still wet and soft. We have some old dog kennel pannels by one shed I want to tear out and put around the garden; that will keep the critters out of it! (Someone saw a cougar ~15-20 miles from here one day last week )
@Daenerys
I've seen lots of pigeons but never a white pigeon. Thanks for the experience.
Got my first loon of the year today.

In 60 years of hardcore birding, this was a first, right off the back porch the other morning, a dead Black-chinned Hummingbird, male, locked on to the stem it was on. Don't ask me how it died.
Here is a closeup of some of the gorget feathers in the throat. The color is iridescence which is made by refraction, and due to structure, not pigment.
Claretcup Cactus is in bloom now, btw, I hate autofocus.

Seeing that hummingbird for the first time 60 years of hard core birding hanging dead must have been a shock.
I love the colour you caught in its feathers, refracted in that singular light and environment.

Thank you. It was a fun place to draw. Beautiful butterfly shots. You are lucky to have so many kinds. We only have three right near my house.

While San Diego does have a good variety of butterfly's, these shots were all taken at the annual spring butterfly exhibit at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
