Friday Night Photos Small World Vol 3 Edition

Happy Friday everyone. As always, post any photos you like.

I was a little under the weather this week so I didn't get out with the camera, but I do have some more shots of my tiny friends from the last time I was out with the macro lens a few weeks ago.

What colourful and intriguing bugs. The tiny orange spider is so sweet looking. Do you think that's an egg sac she is carrying?

Finally some sunny, dry weather. I can hear people celebrating in the distance.

Fantastic video imagery.

Feel better soon.

@janis b
Glad to hear your getting some nice weather. Temps here in San Diego county have been lower than normal for this time of year which has been real nice.

I don't know if the spider has an egg sack or a meal. I'm guessing a meal.

I woke up this morning determined to drink less, eat right, and exercise.
But that was four hours ago when I was younger and full of hope.

@Socialprogressive

is not as hot as normal, both for you and my daughter visiting family in SD next week.

@janis b Hi Janis, GREAT picture. Even your trunks are the greenest of greens. I keep thinking, for years it seems now, well, she couldn't possibly get any greener than that, and BAM! Greener still! Wonderful work.
Wink

If you are referring to the large round area rearward on the spider, that is the abdomen.

take care and keep shootin' those greens!

@dystopian

I was wondering what that black, shiny mass was at the front?

@janis b the black shiny is a partial exoskeleton of something being eaten. A prey item. The egg sacs are spun of silk and sorta look like a small cotton ball.

I'll send it back soon, as I'm now finished with it. I needed it in the process of setting up a new CD player and speakers, but it's done now. Thanks for letting me borrow it.

Outstanding photos SP! Awesome work man! 'Bugs' are great subjects, virtually endless diversity. I love that leafhopper, there are lots of awesome ones. Related to cicadas. With the flying stuff, one quick easy way to start to sort them is 'fly or not fly'. Flies are Diptera, as in TWO-winged insects. All the bees and wasps, etc. (Hymenoptera) are FOUR winged. GREAT pix man! Thanks! I gotta fly though...

happy pixels!
