SF is truly a beautiful and vibrant city.

Here's a flower for your ear ...

Changing seasonal light in black and white ...

The most obvious sign during this transitional time is noticed in the light. Auckland doesn't have the striking seasonal changes many of you in america have. The native bush doesn’t change colour or drop its leaves. We don’t have the thrill of new leaf buds forming and opening to a Spring green and turning bold colours in Autumn. The changes are subtle but still apparent. Even though the days are still intensely hot and dry, the nights are getting cooler as the days shorten, and the sun lowers.

Be well and enjoy everyone.

@janis b Very nice pixels Janis. The black and white is neat. Nice contrast with the bright spot. Wish I could smell that Plumeria. My wife and I gave a big one away when we left L.A. A wonderful scent to waft into the house.

Kept a boat there in your third to last photo.
Worked all the time, so didn't see much of the sights
but the bay is beautiful.

Thanks for the memories

They had just finished building the new water-front stadium.
We were berthed at the Municipal Marina. On the land side,
The Pickled Ginger was a favorite dinner haunt.
Staffed by ex-cons in a work release / job development program.
Excellent service. Also a great little breakfast joint at the head of
the docks. Best sourdough toast ever!

Lots more miles north of SF. I went up north up by Eureka to escape the heat of the Central Valley and it too was having a heatwave. Big bummer. But boy were the sunsets incredible! I had just gotten my 1st digital camera and went nuts taking pictures cuz I didn’t have to pay for developing them. On film I’d get maybe 5 pictures that were worth saving. Not anymore.

Thanks for the pictures that reminds me of when I could spend the day over there. Fun place to visit. I wouldn’t care to live there tho cuz it’s so noisy.

Tule fog. I couldn’t believe how much it moved the 1st time I saw it. Dense too. Some times I could barely see the hood of my car when driving. I’m sure that you are familiar with it too. I was wondering if the drought affected it much or will it continue because of all the canals in the area? But it’s great for photos.

The sunset is from Patrick's point just outside Eureka. Have you been there? The redwoods! Love to get back there too.

The whole damn coast is great for sunsets. Have you been to Wrights beach just 6 miles north of Bodega Bay? That’s were I spent many weekends trying to find my mind after I lost it. Th only thing separating you from the beach is a e rail wooden fence so not much really. Back then I could stay in the parking lot for $5 a night and I was usually the only one there. Heaven. Here’s one when the wind was blowing off the shore instead of in.

I hope you can see the wind blowing the spray back over the waves. I was there during a high wave storm and boy that was loud. And incredible.

I know the video doesn't work here, but does the YouTube link not work either?

Bay Area. It's from one of three webcams, this one facing North/East (toward the hills) from the top of the Cal Campanile. But, you do get great views of the Bay and the city at night from the one facing South/West if you go grab that You Tube feed.

This one is cool because a cooper's hawk suddenly blasts through the frame, even though it is out in the open and in the territory of a mated, nesting pair of peregrines, one of which (Annie) is otherwise the focus of the shot.

You can get access to all 3 cams history and live feeds via calfalcons.berkeley.edu or by going to you tube and entering calfalcons in the you tube search box.

Here's the South/West live feed

The falcons are nesting in the Campanile, and the Coop was kind of playing with fire because they'd be quite happy to eat him. That was the female sitting there and when she dove off she was probably going off to make sure he kept his distance.

Hate the useless suicide barrier they've added to it.
If somebody wants to dive I say let them. Instead of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on barriers, spend hundreds of millions on mental health care.
Nope. No grift in that.

@Pricknick @Socialprogressive An anti-suicide net is crude and perhaps even cynical, but depending on who's trying to accomplish what, it may well be more reliable.

Any time I hear/read someone say "solve the problem by throwing money at mental healthcare", I have to think, 'have you seen mental healthcare from the inside? Even when money's not an obstacle, it's not very effective.'

There are those who believe mental healthcare is itself a "grift" (or worse), and while I wouldn't go that far...it's been a (maybe even the) staple of my life since I was 7, and I understand why some would reach that conclusion.
