Friday Night Photos - Off for a Cycle Edition

Just before I leave, here's a shot I took just outside Hobbiton, The Shire, last year, whilst on a wander around Eriador. Interesting place, and the beers are great. The Golden Perch is recommended.

Great pic BR! Beautiful. Bet there are some good birds there... Is the golden perch the fish, or a beer they make? I'd be interested in either... We have a yellow perch here, a fish, said to be excellent fare. I think mostly northward it is found. I have seen them (in Mass.), they are beautiful fish.

A couple bad pix of one of your great the world's greatest ever planes... long distance shots from when my neighbor takes his toys out... I was just thrilled to see the real deal in the air in person. And to hear it. What a wing shape.

@dystopian

regularly fly over my parents' house. You can't miss the sound of a Spitfire.

Do you know the mark of you neighbour's version? For some reason, the cannon look very long.

Anyway, the later versions are my favourites. Mark XIV with tear drop canopy, etc.

@Bollox Ref Here is his page on it... https://lewisairlegends.com/mk-vb-spitfire
Says MK-VB. So 5, an early one. Says one of 7 flying MK-V's. I can't believe that MK XI did over 600 mph in 1943! That was insane. What a plane. How cool that flight goes over your folks house! I'd love to see and hear a Lancaster in person. Now that I have ticked off Mosquito and Spitfire. His airstrip is a mile down the road. So sometimes when I hear warbirds I make a run for it in the car to get there by time they are landing... but more often just get distant air shots...

@dystopian

Where would we be without birds and their offspring.

Thank you for the beautiful flying forms and shapes.

I love how this looks in black and white. Cool pictures of the plane. What year was it built? And is there a story on the design?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg yeah, BR's b&w looks great. I think the plane was built early 40's I think. the elliptical wing was pretty rad, and it was fast fast fast in the day. Spitfire. Check out the link above, it tells a bit about them... wiki has lots too. It was one of several Brit tech revolutions that saved them in WWII. One of the most famous planes in history.

Thank you for hosting tonight's photography salon.

Your photo of the river and path is bizarre. I don’t know whether I’m looking at flooding in bright light, or snow or ice on the path, but cool that there are steps down to the river.

How about spoons ...
