The leftover impression of mushrooms
after cooking and caramelizing (a little too long) in soy sauce, water and sesame oil.
Sesame oil was a wonder when I discovered it.
And still is. Umami? That's when I discovered that.

This is my favorite photo of a local community garden (Eastbay) taken with a Nikon EM film camera around 1997.
By a year or two later, it wasn't this pretty. Vegetables and weeds replaced many of the flowers seen in the pic.
Shame the garden isn't what it was
I like the greens in the foreground and the mauves, etc., in the background.

Depends on how much sand is dragged up on the beach. Now yes. The surfers go through there to the river and then out to the ocean. At the worst of the storm it was all covered with water.

Fascinating ...
the snake is. I always find animal and plant camouflage captivating; like how specific weeds plant themselves next to similarly looking vegetables or cultivated plants. The snake 'passing' coordinates with the succulent he passes by. How long does it take for him to shed his skin, I wonder?

I relocated this rattler ten years previously, down to my wood pile when it was just a bit more than 1 foot long. While doing so, it did attempt to bite me, but only got through a bit of skin on my finger.
Then 10 years later my wife Teri, thinking that for some reason my beret was left down in the lower field & went to retrieve it, only to find our old friend was not a 'beret".
She came & got me to show me how big our relocated friend was & made sure I brought my camera.
Here I`m standing right above him straddling this big boy while Teri watches out to the side, to advise me if it makes any suspicious moves.
Oh, and my beret was safe at home.

I was thinking Manuka honey would be ideal for a sore throat.
Airborne sounds perfect to take at the first inkling that you might be coming down with something. I take something with high strength olive leaf and zinc, and it is very effective. Echinacea and Vit. C are also invaluable.

This is the female. There were a pair of them; hopefully I can get them both in one photo sometime. I really like how sharp this photo turned out as it was so far away. I keep forgetting to take a zoomed-out photo of that utility line thing so you can all see how far away it was.

I am having seller's regret, selling my place on the St Lawrence Seaway. The little ducks were always a treat there ( Goldeneyes and Buffleheads). No real shore for the shorebirds. Just slags of limestone tipping from the shoreline.

River property is hard
to come by (as it's being "rediscovered"). Is amazing (and calming) to watch the monster ships pass by as silently as a canoe. A magical place, I've been on the river since my teen days. It never gets old. Sadly, I can't say the same.

My Cairn terrier(ist) is going rasta on me.
And she is a squirmy 20 lb and I can't get the mats out by myself. And prefer her being done by That Bad Woman. I just did not know that her hard coat could mat. And now me, with broken foot, is way disabled. I may start cutting. Her, not me. Just mats. None under her legs, TG.

Hi, RL--I can sympathize with you
since I had a Miniature Schnauzer who was not the most compliant dog when it came to grooming. I have two dematting rakes which are helpful, especially for untangling leg featherings. If I can find a photo of my favorite one--which I've had for over twenty years--I'll post it. It not only does the best job (of detangling), its design is such that it doesn't cause discomfort for the dog.
Best of luck to you as you undergo surgery. I have fractured both ankles (3 years apart)--one was a straight fracture, one a spiral fracture--but luckily, surgery was not required. So, I can empathize with your pain and your frustration.
(BTW, the USPS will deliver mail to one's door, upon receipt of a letter from one's physician.)

Experiments sounds so scientific. I like to think of it as just playing around. These shots were taken while playing around at a black light and tabletop workshop one of the camera clubs I'm in has every year.
