Forget the stock market. We are all getting poorer under Trump
Most of us have very little in the stock market.
However, what little we have is priced in dollars. So what has happened to the dollar since Trump took over?
Ever since President Trump entered office, the world has sold bonds and dollars. Lol, this is not what you want if you're in the business of selling US debt. pic.twitter.com/xlcOL1A9Pw

Those dollars in your savings account are shrinking.
Meanwhile, check out what has happened to the measuring stick of all interest rates, the 10-year treasury bond, since Trump's election.
Do you have any debt? Then that chart matters.
can you guess what happens to consumer sentiment when interest rates rise? pic.twitter.com/iPO96bMBaL

You know who has lots of debt? Washington.
It's no surprise this wasn't mentioned during the SOTU, but you would think the Dems might notice.

fiat money
Here's where MMT (Modern Money Theory) smacks into the brick wall at high speed.
With no defined price, a unit of fiat money can take any value it wants to -- and does.
Regardless of how carefully the creators of a currency work to keep its value reasonably stable, the real world only offers strong inflation or strong deflation unless the price of at least one commodity in that currency is set by said creators and backed up by enough of the commodity to be credible.
Those who doubt me here can provide me with a real reason the US dollar should behave differently from Zimbabwe's dollar -- without involving oil or military force.

@thanatokephaloides MMT is completely sound.
Totally OT
Paul Robeson Rocks!
Sounds like nothing much has changed in 70 years.
"They'll say we're disturbing the peace, but there is no peace. What really bothers them is that we are disturbing the war." Howard Zinn
That testimony was hilarious
I especially like how it ended. With a "you can't silence me, so F' you" moment.
Holy, cow, this guy is one of the greats!
I stand in awe.
1 million such courageous patriots standing on their rights and refusing to be intimidated or shouted down could nip this whole McCarthyist revival in the bud...
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
Why would anyone think
that the dems would notice anything? Or even care if they noticed anything? They are too busy trying to overthrow the president.
The dems, like the repubs, don't care about anyone's wealth and well-being but their own.
dfarrah
Amen!
That was my thought exactly. Why would the Dems notice? They're cheering it on. The Dems are like a pendulum. They swing between supporting their friends in the stock market and supporting their friends in the bond market. The only "friends" they don't support is their voters.
