I just signed the petition myself. M4A is 50 years overdue, and I said so.

From the petition site:

Political comedian Jimmy Dore launched the initiative and NFL Chargers running back Justin Jackson kicked off a public discussion with AOC about it on Twitter. Many other movement figures have expressed support for the idea including Aaron Maté, Briahna Joy Gray, Caitlin Johnstone, Cornel West, Graham Elwood, Katie Halper, Krystal Ball, Kyle Kulinski, Marianne Williamson, Max Blumenthal, Nick Brana, Ron Placone, Ryan Knight, Sam Seder, Stef Zamorano, and Susan Sarandon.

I'm gratified to see that Susan Sarandon didn't allow herself to be veal-penned. Smile

except for career oriented politicians who have disingenuously used the popularity of M4A to get themselves elected. AOC’s contention that we need guaranteed passage before a floor vote is pure self-serving bullshit. The people deserve to know where their representatives actually stand on this issue.

AOC didn't get her desired committee appointment, so maybe she will be more open to the idea. Whatta a disappointment she has been.

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

@Lookout One of the excuses AOC had given against this was that they were negotiating other things in private like committee appointments. Guess that part of the negotiations isn’t going so hot.

It’s frustrating that this is even a debate. The so called Squad has acquiesced to the mainstream Dems over and over and gotten nothing but kicked in the teeth for their trouble. Because of Pelosi’s misleadership, they have a position and yet they are reluctant to use it. I have tried to keep up, and I’ve yet to hear a compelling argument against.

Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.

@Lookout to vote against Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House now.

That should tell AOC something about wielding influence, AOC said she'd 'probably' vote for Pelosi and got the shaft, the woman openly willing to vote against Pelosi gets the appointment.Nancy will undoubtedly get that vote now.

My comment on his video

Consider this Ben, when discussing "strategy". 1st, the Tea Party took over congress in 2 years while Nancy was speaker and the democrats lost over 1,000 democratic state legislators and governorship's. Bill Clinton's 1st Democratic Party platform contain the word "revolution" I think 7 or 8 times. I've been hearing people "talk" about "revolution" all my 56 yrs on this planet.

A recent example might include AOC voted on the 1st round of the NDAA in 2019. Her "progressive" principles, went out the window. She withheld her vote on the 2nd round because she didn't get her "amendment", or at least it looks that way, BECAUSE, she voted easy peasy in the 1st round. Ya feel me? Imho, withholding her vote on the 1st round, on principle, and make a ruckus about it, make the "establishment uncomfortable", as she campaigned on, as loud as she could, along with Bernie's so called million strong army of volunteers, could have raised the issue of obscene levels of defense spending to a much higher profile than it is, but she just voted to get along and have the option to add amendments.

Also consider in the same context, where was Bernie's "amendment king" amendments to the NDAA? MIA...

Great strategy, voted for it, then voted against because she didn't get her immigration amendment included and the "Amendment king" in the senate was, well MIA. But hey, the budget amount wasn't even a real concern. The "Democrats" certainly got what they wanted. And the American public is none the wiser.

I won't go so far as to say that's gas lighting, but, I would say it displays a complete lack of conviction to their principles, something the Tea Party have in spades, even when they are totally fucking nutz, you know their convictions are for real. They will literally shut down the government over stupid shit. Just ask Ted Cruz, the fucking grand poobah of the Texas Taliban Tea Party. (OMG he's my senator!!!)

The left, doesn't the have the conviction of their principles, which means, no matter what "strategy" they deploy, it's going to fail. 12 yrs ago we had "hope and change". How'd that work out?

You have to be willing to make sacrifices and kicking over the coffee table every now and then is actually what is called for, considering the genocide level of death we are experiencing as a nation, right now!

Jimmy is a pot smoking jack-off comedian, just trying to make a buck in this capitalistic shit show we call America. He's in the midst of a career change from comedian to political youtube commentator. Instead of the "drama", help him focus his disdain and polemic ire, while educating AOC, (and all progressives) that voting against the party just 5.6% of the time, is not a ruckus or causing the establishment to be uncomfortable as she campaign on.

The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists. (Dr. King) Working within the system, isn't revolution, it's reform. And reform is incrementalism. As Dr. King asked, if not now, when?

Thinking with Dr. King in mind, how quick would America shit a ton of gold bricks, if major sports athletes refused to play (withhold their labor power), until we had a national healthcare system like Bernie has advocated for? Imagine if these "progressives" got together with these athletes and shut down all pro sports? Spread that to college and highschool sport? Are they willing to sacrifice for the good of the country? For all of us to get quality healthcare, not some stupid ACA crap that sucks up all "disposal" income of most Americans.

Working within the system, isn't revolution, it's reform. And reform is incrementalism. As Dr. King asked, if not now, when?

I wrote about taking over the Democratic Party, Tea Party style back in 2016.

The video embedded in that link, by Thom Hartmann:

What have "progressives" been doing since Trump was elected? Imagine if they had followed the Tea Party strategy, taking over local precincts, how many more progressives would be both in congress and most importantly, in control of local elections and local agendas.

You don't even have to kick over coffee tables.
