an example of what a non-Clinton dem would be up against in the primaries.

Remember: the media keeps telling us that Trump is polling at 2% with African-American voters. 2%! His Hispanic numbers aren't nearly as bad, but from what I've seen, Hillary has a significant lead. Just found: Hillary has a 50 point lead with people of color.

Yet, we find this headline in the Washington Post: Pro-Clinton Super Pac to invest in ground operations to mobilize people of color.

The article starts out OK, setting aside our opposition to Super Pacs:

Priorities USA Action, the super PAC that has helped Hillary Clinton dominate the airwaves with political ads, will put up money to bolster the work of some grass-roots political groups to mobilize Latino, Asian American and black voters in several swing states.

priorities USA is one of the Hillary campaign's super pacs. For 2016 it has raised over $100M and spent over $70M. We know that as a Super Pac it isn't supposed to coordinate with the Hillary campaign, but when you have Jennifer Granholm, former gov. Of Michigan and noted Hillary supporter/surrogate, Ann Caprara from Emily's list, we know who they supported, and Paul Bagala, from Bill's White House, on the board and/or advising, who needs coordinating.

The super PAC has pledged $3.5 million to the Center for Community Change Action and Immigrant Voters Win, which is focused on boosting turnout among Latino and Asian Americans in Florida, Nevada and Colorado. A third group, BlackPAC, will focus on millennials and hopes to maintain the historically high level of turnout among African American voters during the past two presidential elections.

Wow! priorities USA isn't doing the work. they're contracting it out. Who's going to benefit from that?

Center for Community Change Action executives, etc. http://www.cccaction.org/our-story/people/staff/#team3

Can't find a web page for Immigrant Voters Win, but hey! Here's a ny times article saying that it's a $15M organization specifically formed for this election and funded by our good buddy, George Soros. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/10/us/politics/george-soros-and-other-lib...

I can't find Anything on Black Pac, but it's executive director is quoted in the article:

[Adrienne] Shropshire said BlackPAC, a new group, will initially focus on voters in Florida, with plans to expand to other battleground states, using both face-to-face contact and a national digital strategy.

Looks to me like one hell of a lot of political patronage jobs. Compare it to what we know of Bernie's campaign organization & volunteers.

You have to wonder, with all the money that Hillary's campaign committee spent on the primaries and now the general, what priorities USA is spending, what ctr is spending, and I'm sure there are more entities out there, exactly what is each vote for Hillary costing her? And as I once commented, Hillary has a payroll to meet, just like SMU football. And just like SMU football, that payroll is expected to produce.

raise money for candidates the "revolutionary's leaders" have accepted as their future representatives ...

Claire sandberg et al left our revolution was because the way it is structured it can't raise money for candidates. (Although that hasn't stopped them from sending fund raising emails where the link goes to another fund.)

What troubles me about the negative comments re bernie, our revolution, etc is what else are the complainers doing? Hopefully something more constructive than bitching on the Internet.

For example, don't like or? Have you considered bnc? Are you independently supporting other candidates, of whatever party, that you prefer?

I have no intentions to donate more to OR until I know more. The board members were announced yesterday, which is a start. But that won't stop me from taking part in the anti TPP events it has planned, such as the call your rep day on 9/14. I won't donate to any of the 4 senatorial candidates Bernie sent an email about tomorrow, but I have donated directly to Tim canova (fingers crossed for today) & zephyr teachout (whose latest poll has her training 46-41. That's doable, especially with phone banking help). I never would have known or gotten involved with these 2 campaigns but for getting involved with Bernie's campaign. That's a positive , and Bernie deserves credit for it.

exactly why.

What I can't understand is why we get already money begging emails from Bernie Sanders. I guess he is speaking for "Our Revolution" to support some candidates. I see nothing "revolutionary" in that approach.

I think the team there underestimates the people's disappointment and sometimes disgust about what has happened during the primaries and the democratic convention. The transition from the Sanders presidential primary campaign to this "our revolution.com" fundraising is just too much for me to swallow.

Never mind what other candidates do, like HRC.

I feel disengaged and estranged from Sanders activities right now. I am feel like "Enough is enough".

I agree with you about OR, and Bernie post-, say, mid-June.

We know what a Trojan horse looks like. Watch the media and how they react. That's the easiest way to tell how a given political undertaking relates to the powers that be.

Compare the way the media reacted to Barack Obama--whom we now know to have been a Trojan horse--to how they reacted to Bernie.

Now compare the way the media reacted to the Occupy movement--whom we know NOT to have been a Trojan horse--to how they reacted to Bernie.

an ill-advised waste of time, but I'd like to put a word in here for doublechecking data--because it looks like the counterpunch article was wrong. Still digging, but haven't yet found any evidence that OR sponsored that event. It appears, so far, to be an event sponsored by a different group of Bernie supporters who apparently have confused the word "progressive" with the word "Democrat."

I know people that live in that district that are definitely not pretend progressives, and would vote Green, but they think that Funiciello is a pompous fake.

It probably doesn't help that he didn't commit to running until almost April of this year. That's pretty half-assed, and doesn't help with his image as being half-assed.

A bit of Googling discredits your comment. Funiciello first announced he would run in 2016 on election night 2014 -- two years ago. He formalized that announcement in conjunction with a Green Gala on March 12, 2016.

"I officially announced on election night in 2014," Funiciello said Friday. "My intent all along has been to run again. I am fully intending to run, just wanted to make sure there was an official time and date for (the announcement of the Green Party's) state candidates." -- Funiciello to announce run during 'Green Gala'

After the 2014 election, Funiciello continued in grass roots politics, helping reorganize the Warren County Green Party organization, which had been dormant for several years. -- It's 'official': Funiciello will run again

That mouth full of gibberish he uttered is why so many don't take him seriously.

He was certainly less committal in the months leading up to his 'official' announcement, and that's well documented both in local press and among people I know that live in that community.

I believe the word used should be 'political gadfly'.

If he was serious about winning, he wouldn't let the opposition have a 6 month head start.

Compare it to what we know of Bernie's campaign organization & volunteers.

“As the only progressive in the NY-21 race, I had hoped to be given a chance to talk about my campaign to other progressives and the Capital District Bernie Sanders network, especially since so many people in my district who had backed Senator Sanders have voiced support for my campaign,” Funiciello said. “Many of them have asked me why someone who has spoken out consistently in favor of a $15-an-hour living wage, single-payer health care, a 100 percent renewable energy grid, a massive government public works program to get us to full employment, and the need to end our imperial wars overseas, would be excluded from such an event and not be given an opportunity to speak to the rank-and-file of this group. But the leadership of this informal group has firmly decided to invite only the Republican-turned-Democrat, Mike Derrick to speak.”

“And if this ‘progressive’ group is willing to stretch the definition of ‘progressive’ to include Mike Derrick, they may as well invite Elise Stefanik to speak, as well.”

In a speech on Aug. 25 that flayed the Republican nominee as an outlier channeling the views of white supremacists and courting the "fringe element" of his party, Clinton invoked the names of former President George W. Bush, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Arizona Senator John McCain and former Senator Bob Dole, the 1996 Republican nominee, to set up the contrast with Trump.

Republicans who've already voiced their opposition to Trump welcomed having the Democratic presidential nominee make their argument—that he doesn't represent the party or mainstream conservatism.

"I'm glad that even Hillary Clinton recognizes that this isn't our whole party," Katie Packer, a former adviser to Mitt Romney's 2012 campaign, wrote on Twitter. "This is strong," Republican strategist Ana Navarro said of Clinton's praise for past Republican nominees. "It's easily the best speech of any candidate this year," Tony Fratto, a former spokesman for Bush, tweeted.

it was sponsored by a group called Progressive Revolution who define themselves as Bernie followers.

The Counterpunch article repeatedly and incorrectly calls the sponsor "Our Revolution" and links it to Bernie

Turns out that Bernie Sanders’ successor organization – Our Revolution – was holding an “Meet Your Progressive Candidates” Forum in Albany August 25.

This is misrepresentation, intended to smear Bernie's Our Revolution and, I guess, to support Funiciello. It's counterproductive on both counts, imo.

I live in NY 21 and I will vote for Matt Funiciello, despite differences, because the other 2 candidates--one a Koch brothers funded Repub and the other a corporate Dem--are so awful.

debunking squad here at C99? Because I agree, in general, that OR is a wash and that Bernie is basically compromised (which makes me sad rather than angry). So I'd be totally inclined to agree with the Counterpunch article--but it looks like it's not actually true.

It doesn't look to me like a "hit piece," but rather a careless effort by somebody who had my same ideas about OR, and a much worse opinion of Bernie than I do, who saw something that appeared to confirm those ideas, and grabbed it without checking to see if it really was what they thought it was.

I called it a 'hit piece' because the effect of the piece was to discredit OR based on false assertions/implications.

If people distrust OR, I get that, but that piece stinks of the type of well-timed smear that's so effective when people are angry and hurt and willing to accept information that supports their feelings.

I've become used to reading shit like that, usually on facebook, and usually with the strong suspicion of Brockian meddling.
