I got some stuff fer y'all.
Glen Ford at Black Agenda Report: Why the Rich Want to Bury Bernie, the Not-Really-Socialist

Yet, Sanders is the only Democrat besides Joe Biden who polls well enough to decisively beat Trump – and even Biden’s handlers know that he will soon disintegrate into a puddle of befuddlement. The corporate media and the rigged pollsters put their thumbs on the scale for Warren in order to split the anti-austerity vote. But, whatever happens in the primaries, the corporate rulers will not allow opponents of their billionaire-creating austerity machine to seize control of what has become the most important half of the electoral duopoly. (Trump’s Republican Party now lacks sufficient legitimacy for stable corporate governance, due both to Trump himself, and the Democrat-corporate-spooks semi-coup called Russiagate.) They would rather the Democrats lose to Trump than win with Bernie. Should Sanders secure the nomination, the moneyed classes will immediately set about creating a “centrist” party to preserve the austerity regime, “grandfathering” in current “moderate” Democrats, en mass.

Norman Solomon at Common Dreams: Why Bernie Sanders Is Absolutely Correct About the Washington Post—and Corporate Media Overall

"The corporate-owned and corporate-advertiser-funded media of this country are the biggest barriers between Bernie Sanders and the Oval Office," I wrote five months ago. "Often functioning as propaganda outlets, the major news media serve as an amplification system for corporate power that has long shielded the Democratic Party from the combined 'threats' of social movements and progressive populist candidates." (I continue to actively support Sanders.)
Journalists who have staked their careers on remaining in the good graces of corporate employers are certainly inclined to say in public that billionaire owners and huge corporations don't constrain their journalistic work. And in their minds, they might be telling the truth. As George Orwell wrote, "Circus dogs jump when the trainer cracks his whip, but the really well-trained dog is the one that turns his somersault when there is no whip."

this Epstein fellow who got killed....autopsy shows broken neck bones consistent with manual strangulation and extremely rare in suicides. The press consensus? What a mystery! That yelling that came from his cell? Must have been guards who were concerned about what they found.

We can conclude this is not the Age of Enlightenment.

@Shahryar

Epstein's cell wasn't working right? I'm sure that the other video cameras in the vicinity were and they caught anyone who wasn't supposed to be in the prison if he was in fact killed. The media jumped right to he died by suicide when the justice department was saying 'apparent' suicide. It's almost like the media wants people to believe that there is no other option for how he died. Then there's all the reports of people hearing him screaming during the time he was killing himself. I want to see the video logs.

Just too many different stories coming out which seems like they want people baffled. The most important prisoner in prison at the time got guarded by a temp? Sure... and if prisons don't have enough guards to keep them safe then stop adding people.

This is why no nation with any decency or respect for humanity should extradite a prisoner back to the United States, regardless of the crime. US prisons are murder palaces — no different than Israel or Saudi Arabia. These nations have out-of-control psychopaths in charge of their governments.

A solemn sight. Sheesh! What's next a state funeral? BTW. Maxwell has been found staying with some rich dude here in the states so why hasn't she been arrested yet? I would think that people have a few questions that they might want to ask her.

Sure, Chris. This is why Bill Clinton flew on his plane 25 times. He said that he used Epstein's plane to fly to the Clinton foundation events because he was trying to save money even though the foundation is probably worth billions.

From way of the bern...good comment.

Here is a comment I found on a Yahoo board referring to the WaPO article that told this same story, raising several additional, highly troubling issues:

"The case just isn’t cooperating with the whole “suicide” narrative. – The Washington Post reported last night that the autopsy of human trafficking pedophile Jeffrey Epstein found “multiple broken bones” in his neck.

That was revealed in the story’s opening paragraph. The Post of course spends the rest of this 25-paragraph piece doing everything it can to continue to prop up the “suicide” narrative. The fake newspaper’s writers and editors do this by carefully focusing only on the broken hyoid bone, which is a part of a man’s Adam’s Apple. The piece never again even mentions the fact that “multiple” bones were broken, nor does it specify which bones those might be. It’s as if that word, “multiple”, has no meaning and is to be ignored.

The writers and editors focus on the hyoid bone because it has been found to have been broken in a small percentage of actual, real hanging cases. The problem here is that, even if the official narrative is to be believed, Epstein could not have really “hanged” himself in the traditional sense of that word. In an actual hanging, the victim would be found dangling with his feet off the ground from a rope that had been strung through a light fixture or otherwise attached to the ceiling of the cell.

Big problem: Epstein’s cell had no means of doing that. The official narrative claims he hanged himself using a sheet he strung through the rail of the top bunk, which sits barely 5 feet off the floor. The narrative contends he then got on his knees and slowly strangled himself using that sheet around his neck. Now, the Washington Post wants you to believe that he was able to kneel forward with such force that he not only strangled to death, but he also broke not only his hyoid bone, but also “multiple” bones in his neck in doing so.

How did he do all of that? How did he maintain that intense pressure on his neck – which would have required an intense physical effort – without the human “will to live” impulse kicking in? Did he somehow bind his hands to prevent that from happening? If not, how did he maintain that intense effort until he actually expired?

The most unintentionally hilarious part of the Post’s article is the claim that the autopsy report has created “deepening questions around his death.” The problem our society has is that no one at the Washington Post or 99% of our mainstream news media is asking those questions.

There is no demand emanating from the halls of the Post or the New York Times or CNN or MSNBC or any other major “news” organ in America for Attorney General William Barr or FBI Director Christopher Wray or even for whatever moron heads up the Bureau of Prisons to hold a press conference and give our intrepid public watchdogs in the press a full accounting of the progress of the case. They’re all too busy obsessing over Beto O’Rourke’s latest re-boot of his campaign and Bernie Sanders’ interview with Cardi B to be worried about any of that.

The problem, of course, is that our fake news media organs have invested the last three years covering up for the seditious actions of the Obama-era FBI and DOJ, in the process building a narrative that these federal agencies are to always be trusted and can do no wrong. They’ve spent the last three years trying to brainwash the public to take whatever the likes of James Comey and Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe and Rod Rosenstein have to say as the gospel truth – even going so far as to hire the disgraced McCabe as a paid contributor at CNN – and as a result, it has become incredibly hard to now just turn on a dime and express some healthy skepticism about the veracity of the official narrative."

In other words, once a news agency has willingly turned itself into a government lapdog, it’s pretty hard to un-train that behavior. Maybe impossible.

And so we get reports like this one from the Washington Post.

The only way that congress could be more shameless than posing in front of missiles would be for them to pose in front of some hospital to rub it in that we give Israel $3.8 billion a year and they have decent health care while we are stuck with junk insurance. Or something.

He said that Israel should ban them from entering the country because of their hatred for Jews. Neither woman has said anything close to that, but that won't matter to people who believe him and don't like her. AOC has gotten death threats because of what Trump has said. I think Omar has too. Ha..Trump told Talib to go back to her country, but Bibi won't let her.

That the president of the USA saying the things he does about people in congress has to be ____fill in the blank because I can't come up with the right thing to say about it. Just imagine Obama saying things like that about republicans. People would be all over him like white on rice. But then there's Nancy calling McConnell Moscow Mitch... SMDH over what has happened since Trump became president. It's like watching a bunch of kindergarten kids calling each other names.

The Dembots hate them, too. You won't see Biden defending them.
And the White Supremacists also hate the Jews.

The US is a 24/7 hate fest. We hate the Russians, the Venezuelans, the Mexican, the Chinese, the Cubans, the French, the Dutch, the Malaysians, the Hawaiians, the New Yorkers, the immigrants, the Canadians, the Iranians, the Saudis, the rest of the Middle East and Africa, any country with national health care, and all the shithole countries, too. We hate the Nazis, the Commies, the Socialists, and anyone who is not a Christian.

We should have a nationwide street fair. We have so much in common

@Pluto's Republic

During National Brotherhood Week various special events are arranged to drive home the message of brotherhood.
This year, for example, on the first day of the week Malcolm X was killed which gives you an idea of how effective the whole thing is.
I’m sure we all agree that we ought to love one another and I know there are people in the world that do not love their fellow human beings and I hate people like that.
Here’s a song about National Brotherhood Week.

Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek.
It’s fun to eulogize
The people you despise,
As long as you don’t let ’em in your school.

Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It’s American as apple pie.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans ’cause it’s very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can’t stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Muslims,
And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
It’s national everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It’s only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn’t last all year!

Nowadays one could add the verse,

Oh, the Democrats hate Republicans
And Republicans hate the Democrats
The establishment hates progressives
But everyone votes for war

And a timely version of the last line could be

Be grateful you’re not living in Kashmir

I don’t know if anyone has written a book about him, but it seems there should be. He was massively important to the story of R&B and rock and roll but I think people don’t realize how much he did until he got famous in the 60s and 70s.

I also grew up with the Ike and Tina Proud Mary. It was a long time before I heard CCR’s original. We had the Turner’s record in the house, but my parents had a different CCR album.

But Ike did not have a flattering role, which tended to focus on his abuse of Tina. I didn't realize that his blues influence was so wide.

@Pluto's Republic That’s why it gets kind of tough to talk about him. I’d never defend that kind of behavior but it does seem like he kind of became a scapegoat as there are (sadly) many other artists equally bad or worse who didn’t receive the same tarnished reputation for their misdeeds. That movie came out when I was growing up and for a long time, all I really knew about Ike was that he was terrible to Tina. There was a major reevaluating of his career when he died that opened my eyes to his positive accomplishments.

and actually very progressive and I might dare say ahead of his time. Good songwriting, arrangements, singing, he was really talented, just bad with women apparently... and bizness. He had more troubles than ... Thanks for the tunes!
