For years it was a Christmas season custom to see the
Trail Band with guest artist Linda Hornbuckle. She had a signature song for this time of the year:

She was really good bluesy singer.
Happy Christmas Joe and JtC. May this be a good one for us, one and all.

"Christmas Eve" Storyline - The greedy nephew of eccentric Matilda Reed seeks to have her judged incompetent so he can administer her wealth; but she will be saved if her three long-lost adopted sons appear for a Christmas Eve reunion. Separate stories reveal Michael as a bankrupt playboy loved by loyal Ann; Mario as a seemingly shady character tangling with a Nazi war criminal in South America; Jonathan as a hard-drinking rodeo rider intent on a flirtatious social worker. Is there hope for Matilda?

thanks for the movie recommendation. perhaps we'll get to it after ms shikspack gets through her traditional set of xmas movies.
have a wonderful christmas eve!
We made it a nice Christmas Eve
with candles, three old American movies, (shown on German TV) and the easiest Christmas Eve dinner there is (I did not even know that this was a custom in the northern parts of Germany), potato salad with Wiener Würstchen, something like hotdogs. Boy it was so good to do something so easy and relaxing, after all the stress to do something nice to neighbors and friends.
I always wondered why is it that there have been so many good musicians in the US and with some deep thinking (and some liquor) I came to the conclusion that is because the good people of this country suffered a lot and out of that suffering the most beautiful songs and music arose to overcome the pain.
Thank God for American movies and American Blues. I am happy now and that's good so.
Cheers to you all.

heh, when you compress a lump of coal enough, you get a diamond. when you compress a soul enough, you get the blues.
glad to hear that you decompressed with a nice, easy dinner.
have a great christmas eve!
Ahh, Christmas cookies
A new tradition.
Baked up a batch of Nantucket Salted Peanut cookies
from somebody's great-grandmother. Funny thing,
there is no salt in it. MMM good!
This is close to the recipe I used...

howdy bluesters
Hey Joe, and all,
Thanks for the great Santa numbers, bunch of great stuff. I saw you did Mike Bloomfield last night... he was revered in 1970 in my circle of 15 yr. old hippies in high school in Hunt. Bch., CA. Super Sessions was at 2 of 3 houses. Even before Peter Green, there was Mike Bloomfield. He was an unbelievable guitarist, he had the feel to the bone.
Here is one of my favorite customary Christmas numbers.
Christmas Balls - Ben Light & His Hollywood Surf Club Boys - 1936
Nice to have the blues without the news!
Thanks again Joe, I appreciate your work here.
Have a great one all!

Thanks for the great Gary Coleman, I like his version better than the Stevie Ray popular one.

Silent night ... not
Showing up here late as usual. Hope everyone has had, or is having, a great Christmas eve. Around here, all the Texans are firing off their best fireworks. Sounds like a war. Just something wrong about shooting fireworks on Christmas eve...
Wish it would snow. But it won't.
