Election Fraud Lies: The Kraken Hath Kroaketh

Kraken.jpg

Legenday legal eagle Sidney Powell's Kraken lawsuits have sunk in Georgia and Michigan. While Trump and his minions can and will keep bleating allegations and filing lawsuits, the thrill is gone and the election is pretty much a done deal. There's no way Republican legislatures (now Covid-19 exposed. Thanks, Rudy!!) can overturn the election despite Trumpeteers' wet and wishful thinking.

Michigan

Federal judges delivered blistering rejections on Monday to a pair of last-ditch lawsuits by allies of President Donald Trump seeking to overturn election results in Michigan and Georgia, describing the legal efforts as undemocratic.

“In fact, this lawsuit seems to be less about achieving the relief Plaintiffs seek—as much of that relief is beyond the power of this Court— and more about the impact of their allegations on People’s faith in the democratic process and their trust in our government,” Detroit-based U.S. District Court Judge Linda Parker said in a written ruling.

Georgia

After hearing about an hour of arguments from various sides, George W. Bush appointee U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Batten issued a rare ruling from the bench dismissing the case outright. Batten said the electors there lacked standing to sue and were seeking an outcome that he is not empowered to provide: decertifying Biden’s victory.

Judge Batten said "They want this court to substitute its judgment for two-and-a-half million voters who voted for Joe Biden. And this I am unwilling to do."

Sidney Powell, stung by the Judge Batten's reasoned and magisterial ruling, wailed "This is a massive case and of great concern not just to Georgia, but the entire world!!"

[EdG Note: It's not reported in the article, but I wouldn't be surprised if the entire courtroom broke into derisive laughter at Powell's proclamation.]

Medicare for All and real money in peoples' bank accounts for rent, mortgage payments: cycle through the end use customer first to get money to the owners, and the banks who get paid either way. But in this scenario everybody gets paid.

work for a new party, see if the squad will come along. Create an actual alternative that frightens them so much they start doing good things.

I put the chances on that as pretty slim, though.

The purpose of the filing is to get an open hearing under oath of the very substantial allegations of fraud. The judges waved a convenient fig leaf and kept the evidence out of court (so far). It is understandable; who wants to be in the middle of a serious controversy? Winter vacations disrupted, disapproval of one's friends, etc.

I think that a demonstrably fair election, trusted by the public, is more important than who wins. If half the people don't trust elections, in a short time there won't be any. If fraud is proven, why not have another election with full security ensured? It would take a few months and be tiring, but the winner would be accepted by all, and the country could move on with a cleaned up system.

Perhaps Sydney Powell (the "legal eagle") will appeal and prevail. It would be fun to see EdG sputtering, enveloped in snark.

@edg I'm sorry to waste your time, EdG. I used that as a virtual studio for years when I was on the move. I gave it up a while back. I couldn't seem to get it off this comment site the one time I tried. Kept forgetting to go back and try again to delete it. The books I've written are on Amazon, if you are curious. Search on "John Moncure Wetterau"

If so, I'll video myself sputtering and enveloped in snark and post it on c99. In the meantime, back in the real world, I'll keep debunking her phony claims.

Powell can certainly appeal. However, the appellate courts and the Supreme Court do not retry cases or hear new evidence. They do not hear witnesses testify. There is no jury. Appellate courts review the procedures and the decisions in the trial court to make sure that the proceedings were fair and that the proper law was applied correctly. So don't expect a blockbuster 10 day trial with guilty verdicts at the end.

There are no substantial instances of fraud. Yes, there are allegations, but allegations without proof carry no weight. I've examined most of the allegations and all of Sidney's filings. None of her pleadings are factual and none of her witnesses are credible. There's a reason Republican and Democratic judges have thrown Trump's cases out of court, and it ain't Christmas vacation. It's because they lack merit.

Since I voted for Jo Jorgensen, I don't care if Biden wins. I don't even like him. He's smarmy and creepy, and his support for punitive bankruptcy law and lax bank oversight is outrageous. He's no "friend of the people".

We'll see what happens, but I stand by my assessment: It's over. If election reform is needed, Congress has 4 years to work on it before the next presidential election is held.

@edg It's possible that we are both right. Legal means of getting the evidence proven or disproved may be closed. Election reform will not be undertaken under a Biden administration that (IMO) benefited from a corrupted system.
We are in agreement about Biden, Mr. Empathy. His record of empathetic legislation is, to say the least, lacking. I voted for Tulsi.
I disagree with your conclusions about the evidence and the witnesses. If they never get to court, it is moot; we'll never know. But, I'm afraid, we'll see a rapid slide away from democracy, open discussion, and a concensus that truth matters more than power. I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right, it's everyone for him/herself and devil take the hindmost, not a feeling I want to share with my granddaughters.

I've published multiple essays examining and refuting the "evidence". My background includes 45+ years in the computer industry, so I do have a bit of knowledge regarding technology. None of the witness statements I've read have technical merit. Real-life computers don't work the way these people claim they do. Real-life software doesn't work the way these people claim they do.
