Ding Dong DWS is no longer in charge at DNC!

Yes, this link is from Kos - overlook the source, but the only other place I found the news was CNN breaking news.

If I'm violating some unwritten rule, by sourcing from Kos, I'm certain it shall be written several times.

Anyway, this is great news! Brandon Davis, Head of the SEIU, is an excellent choice given the controversy over the lack of labor reps on the platform committee.

Yes, I know it's not enough. But it is at least a show of good faith.

Anyway. I laughed when I read about this... Timed perfectly to go out BEFORE Bernie's livestream. Seemed a bit to staged/coordinated to tell the Bernie wing "we listened to you and kind of sort of removed DWS as DNC chair (without a actually really removing her) " for me to take this seriously.

BTW anyone know how tonight's livestream works? I don't ever do livestream so I don't know how to participate. I did register but haven't received a txt about anything but getting more txts in the future I should respond Y.

what's to stop Bernie from taking over the DNC? (that's the Democratic National Committee for anyone who doesn't like acronyms)

This, by the way, proves that something could have been done earlier. There was all this talk about how no one could remove Debbie because she was elected. I notice that she retains the title of chairwoman but has lost control.

did the right thing in removing Debbie Wasserman Schultz (DWS) from power (yes, I accept the tacit rebuke for posting acronyms, yet criticizing your acronym use).

We know that Bernie wouldn't have been able to work with DWS - who took away his campaign's access to their own data for a week, who continually undermined and dismissed Sanders' campaign.

At least, Brandon Davis is considered to be an honest broker, and this is a fresh start. Incurable optimist that I am, I think that this is a good sign.

Of course, you're right, this is premature, again. Clinton does not have the required votes to be the nominee - so this "traditional" replacement of the old party chair by the presumptive nominee's chair should have waited until the convention.

But as a practical reality, we really didn't want Wasserman Schultz in power until the convention. She was known to be hostile to Bernie's campaign, policies, and political goals. I say we give the new guy a chance to show where he's coming from.

The plan to roll out the Hillary coronation I mean campaign began 3 years ago with the letter, written by Barbara Boxer, from. The women of congress "urging" HRC to run for the presidency was "signed sealed and delivered.

We starting hearing about this letter a year,ago.... It's interesting NOW how many times it was pointed out to Bernie supporters that ELIZABETH. WARREN. Signed that letter. I dismissed that as congressional comity. But now I kick myself for not connecting that dot correctly.

I now think EW was always on board the Clinton bus... It's why she has remained so silent. She couldn't openly support hillary once Bernie entered the race but she refused to endorse Bernie because her endorsement was going to be used to convince BERNERS to back HRC

Anyone know WHO began the draft Warren petition campaign?? Was it a party person ? Was that just a way to get progressive wing email addresses??

an act of good faith has me wondering about this place now.

*
From KOS:

"Now the way this works is that DWS will keep her title. You can’t just fire the party chair on a whim."

*

That may be true but calling this an 'act of good faith'? No, not really. It's a way to get Sanders voters votes. DWS isn't losing a damn thing. And considering the relationship between Shills and DWS, she'll come out smelling like a rose anyway. Who know, she too can be Secretary of State with the right connections. and she certainly has those.

Yeah Sanders demanded this but don't act like this is some big concession. Like KOS says:

""Now the way this works is that DWS will keep her title.

She should have been gone long ago for her shennanigans. This isn't a freaking 'concession'. This is righting an egregious wrong. Her actions all through this primary have been on a par with David Brock's.

Corruption is a consistent theme in politics, but for some of us who lived thru Bill Clinton's administration, we understand well that the Clinton machine is little more than a very well organized and enormously-monied international mafia ring.

As an older American, I am really just dumbfounded at the way ANYONE in this country would want the Clintons (and they are a "two for one") back in the White House.

Don't wonder about "this place". If you disagree, post your own diary, or comment, as you've done. I'm new here, but this really does appear to be a place which encourages discourse.

I'm not afraid of people disagreeing with me. I'm going to post another version of my Bernie speech diary from last night back on Kos. It will get a huge number of negative comments and probably get me flagged or banned. So f__ing what?

Don't be askeered of disagreement.

I told no one where to post. I told you what I'm doing. I did go ahead and revise my Bernie speech diary, posted it at Kos, with predictable results: mostly negative comments and nobody reads it after the first hour. I also crossposted it on coloradpols.com, where I've been writing forever.

Turns out that coloradopols admins are all Hillary fans, but it did get some good responses.

I guess I'm trying to say that disagreement is a good thing, and healthy, as long as people are civil to each other. It's fine that we don't agree about whether replacing DWS shows a "good faith effort". You don't have to "wonder about this place" or leave, just because I am posting something you disagree with.

Wasserman Schultz welcomed Mook and Davis to party headquarters on Thursday morning. While she will remain in her position as the party's chairwoman, at least through the convention next month in Philadelphia, her role diminishes with the Clinton campaign's takeover of the committee.

It is a standard transition, as Clinton becomes the presumptive Democratic nominee.

In an interview on Thursday, Dean recalled how he transitioned immediately to simply raising money and campaigning for Barack Obama in 2008 after Paul Tewes, a trusted Obama aide, stepped in to lead the committee.
"We basically just turned it over to him and I left the building to him. He ran the DNC," Dean said.

I think not. This is a sacrificial head being rolled, that's it and that's all.

The KOS framing makes me laugh out loud, though--"Clinton Takes Control of DNC, DWS is Out". What a ludicrous presentation of this. No, it's not "all better" at all, if this is how it's being spun, it means they're doing damage control. Period. I'm glad she's "gone", but this is about as worthy as a bucket of warm spit, given all the other machinations that we see--and have had demonstrated--are in place.

You'll know how coddled DWS will remain, depending on how she does against Tim Canova in the FL primary in August.

I despise DWS and what she's done to assist Clinton's ascension to the nomination. But when you start attacking people for physical characteristics, you are degrading and minimalizing your policy views and perpetuating the idea that how someone looks has some effect on policy. Please don't conflate the two. Because Progressives don't want H.
