Dennis Kucinich running for governor

One of my favorite politicians of all time is attempting a comeback.

Capping off two weeks of turnover and upheaval in the gubernatorial race, former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich on Wednesday announced he would run for governor in a crowded Democratic primary.
Months of speculation surrounded Kucinich's name, who in 2017 said he was considering a run. He becomes the fifth Democrat to seek the nomination to succeed outgoing term-limited Republican Gov. John Kasich.
Kucinich, a longtime progressive and populist, struck much of the same tone he is famous for, calling for the people to "take back" their government.
"This is the moment when the people must take back their government," Kucinich said during his announcement at the Middleburg Heights Community Center. "This is the moment when there must be a shift of power from an uncaring, unresponsive state government in Columbus to where the power of 'We the People' is claimed and expressed with strength, with experience and with fearlessness."

Sounds vaguely like Bernie Sanders.
He's also picked a running mate.

Let's not forget about another progressive that the establishment hates.

Alan Grayson has been out of office for more than a year, but his fundraising emails keep coming.
Soon, the Florida Democratic Party could find out on which race all that money could be spent. And it may not like the answer.
One expert said a scenario that worries party leaders is a primary battle against U.S. Rep. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee, who succeeded Grayson in District 9 in Osceola County and southern Orange County.
“He doesn’t care what people think, including his own party,” said Aubrey Jewett, a professor of political science at the University of Central Florida who closely follows local politics. “That endears himself to some people and drives some people crazy. That’s the nature of Alan Grayson.”
In an interview Thursday, Grayson, 59, wouldn’t say definitively if he was running or which seat he might choose to contest. He said he doesn’t have to make a decision until qualifying ends in June.
But when asked if he was considering challenging an incumbent Democrat such as Soto, he responded, “I think that in that circumstance, it would a Democrat challenging me.”

I confused governor with president in my hasty reading and irrelevant comment. Sorry.

will both try to squash his campaign before it ever gains steam. After all, the Dems and Repigs both hate the left.

I should've known better since I read them on DKOS. But that was back when I still thought they might be a liberal or progressive site.

A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

Grayson wrote a diary there a few months ago and he got hammered by the kos kids. It should have been embarrassing for them to treat him like that, but decorum left ToP with the ides of March decree.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I remember that diary. But he got discussed on several occasions and people said ?bad things? about him. That was back before I really understood how corrupt the Democratic party was and how thoroughly it had infiltrated everywhere like.... say.... DKOS. I can honestly say "Thank you" to Hillary for truly and fully opening my eyes.

Henry Fucking Kissinger? Really? And Trump is the bad guy?

I wonder what took so many of us to open our eyes to what they really were. Other people knew this and some of them tried to tell me about who Obama was, but I didn't listen. I just saw his rhetoric and wanted to believe that what he was saying was true. Now I can see the pattern. Bush was so crappy and I hated the things he did as many others did, so the PTB gave us the Obama spiel. This is going to be repeated after Trump ruins everything. They will again run someone who will tell us fairytales and many will believe them.

Bernie was Toto and he exposed the wizard behind the curtain. I don't understand how others didn't see what we did. They think that if they elected the right people to congress they will do what we want them to. The shutdown is just another game between the Washington Generals and the Harlem Globetrotters. The Generals just stole the ball and going in for an easy layup. "Oh no, here comes the Turtle and he blocks the shot."

It took time to reach critical mass. It started with a bit of awareness from some #Occupy dude camping in front of an apple store which the tech reviewer I was reading commented on. I had to google to find out what the hell the word "occupy" was doing in that spot in the sentence. Then came my awareness of Obama's cabinet. Then, of course, the bail out of Wall Street. From there I started looking very closely and... well... you know what you find when you look closely.

It just took critical mass. And I'm willing to bet that poor guy sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the Apple store in New York who inconveniences that tech writer probably wonders if he achieved anything. Too bad. He did.

*** EDITED TO ADD ***
Insofar as Bernie, what blows me away is how many ardent Bernie supporters completely did not listen to him. He told us flat out it was all corrupt. We watched the DNC rig the election in numerous ways. Yet still, they don't understand. I'm guessing the reason for that is that if you actually understand it's pretty depressing. That's a truly bitter pill to swallow... the realization that the entire globe is being run into the ground by a global elite who don't give a rat's ass about anyone but themselves.

And Bernie likely knew what was coming and, I suspect, evidently had a longer-term plan to try to get around an impossible situation, this explaining his warning not to listen to him if he was forced to tell people - whom he knew darned well knew better and could mostly be trusted not to - to vote for Hillary.

(If only everyone had more sensibly voted for Jill, against both evils, as a landslide win might have been too hard to hide... 'Gee, we have two rabid cats running for office, and a fellow-mouse which the cats say can't win because nobody will vote for her. But if we all voted for her, wouldn't she win? I wonder how much pain and bloodshed could be avoided if we all voted for one of us over a heartless predator? No, we'll go with a devil-party we know, maybe even the one who pretends he won't start clawing us as soon as he's in office...')

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

They don't understand why we'd say Hillary was a "rabid cat" because that information simply isn't allowed in the liberal bubble. Note how antiwar talk has gone by the wayside. Wikileaks became the enemy. Whistleblowers needed to be prosecuted and sentenced... harshly. The only topics allowed within the liberal bubble are a very limited segment of racial and social justice issues.

Not even global warming can be seriously discussed because to do so you'd need to ask why we're taking still more oil out of the ground when we know we cannot burn it. From there you'd need to ask questions about the people authorizing that extraction (Obama). You'd need to look at fracking... and Hillary's stance on it. As I remember she was for localized control over a global problem. Yes, that's going to work.

Let's be crystal clear here. 4000+ cities across America have water similar to Flint's and the "liberal base" doesn't give a rat's ass about it. How much more graphic can you get really?

All excellent points, unfortunately. But aren't/weren't about half of all US voters Indies, with close to half of the eligible voting population not voting at all for whatever reason? No idea what it's like now...

Drat it, there has to be a way to get enough Americans awake and informed and voting against all evil and for non-psychopathic candidates!

Where's my unicorn-tail-hair wand when I need it?

Listened to the video and the NPR don't-even-know-what-to-call-her.

Apart from the tone of absolute and insulting distaste in which she dismissed Dennis, she had the identically flat, unhuman sort of voice for which Hillary is known, that being part of what makes her uncoached voice so irritating. Must be a psychopath neolib thing.

How can that repulsive and annoying a speaking voice be on radio? The same way the Clintons and Bushs got to be in politics?
